  • This SIMPLE thing makes POWERFUL Ebikes Legal? ft. Crazybird Jumper
This is the Crazybird Jumper. A 750w ebike capable of reaching 30mph. Most would agree that this electric bike is not legal. But it comes without a throttle and is HARD limited to 15.5mph and therefore a much lower wattage. So does this mean the Crazybird jumper and other ebikes with similar features are also legal? Let's take a look.

I am 67 yrs old and if it wasn't for my beloved ebike I would hardly venture out, this thing is a new lease of life for me and must be for loads of others, yes the laws and Police can say and do what they want but I,m not giving my ebike up for no one.

  • @jediknight2350

your going to fast for a bike you should be made to have tax mot and insurance and a number plate its that simple that is a moped a motorbike not an assist electric bike this makes me angry because if i hit you off your bike and its your fault whos paying???????????????????????????????????

  • @derekblake9385

The 15.5mph limit is pathetic as we all pedal faster than that, Even a non ebike will ride faster so the law needs reviewing.

  • @SharonD369

I’ve got a Trek 2019 Powerfly 4 and what i’ve done is drilled a hole in the left hand pedal arm and fitted the magnet from the rear wheel to that pedal arm then move the speed sensor on the chain stay closer to the down tube so the magnet passes the sensor and boom there you have it, a genuine 40mph mountain bike that keeps up with traffic no problem 👌👌👌

Great review and reflection on the current ebike laws. Back in 1994 I reviewed the Sinclair Zike and I was then blown away by the potential... 30 years later and it's blatantly obvious that governments across the world do not want to promote anything that is a threat to their taxing revenue... although they have been increasing the cost of electricity to eventually bring it in line with potential lost fuel duty revenue. These past three years have proved the blatant contempt they have. They are now proposing a blitz on any ebike/escooter "law" breaker and once they have finalised the rental agreements for storage there will be mass seizures... Assuming the potential offender actually stops. Keep an eye on the media peddling criminal activities on ebikes as a justification.

  • @rambosausage8881

Im not saying everyone should go above the 250/15.5 rules with the Ebike but im sure if you do and apply a bit of common sense while riding you will be ok.... hooning down the road at 40mph using a throttle is asking for trouble, getting a bit of extra assistance upto the low 20s i cant see anyone batting an eyelid.

  • @nicksullivan2212

I’ve got 2 pedal assist. bikes and they are great at 60 years old. I get out and about up and down hills with the assistance of the motor. Great now we’ve got people delivering food on obviously illegal bikes no lights no helmet no insurance so what happens when I hit someone or something. if anything with amount of traffic that is on the roads, if you’re going to use a electric bike as you would call it, you should Curry minimum head and hand protection with insurance you thought

  • @lbenegas

Limitations to ebikes, scooters, etc are as stupid as pretending to limit car owners to drive up to 40mph… let people buy whatever they want, and use those within established limits for other trasnportation methods… aske them to get an insurance in case you want to protect third parties…

  • @DemiGod..

You do seem obsessed with speed. 250 gets you upto 15.5 mph fast , most cyclists being able to then manually travel on flats at 20mph. The assist also doubles your climbing speed. If you want to cruise at 30mph , get yourself a moped or electric maxi scooter if you like electric.

  • @phillipwilliams4674

Yeah... The law regarding e-bike regulations is a total mess. Motor classifications quote that a 250w motor should be capable of consistently outputting 250w of power over a 30 minute period, otherwise that motor is sub standard, and yet the e-bike regulations seem to point out an instantaneous power output of 250w. I agree that the law would be better worded if it stated that an e-bike is unable to power the cycle above 25 kph (15.5 mph). This would allow more suitable bicycles to be provided for shall we say... the more generously sized people living in hilly areas. I live in Wales, and the present law is a joke considering that the government want to encourage all people to take up cycling as a way of life. That simply doesn't work for overweight asthmatic (or post covid) individuals right now. 250w hub motors are just not suitable for these environments.

  • @garymurray5361

Im fortunately not bothered by the local police, they actually ask more questions out of curiosity than legality.

Hi I have a haoqi cheetah pro 1000 watt mid drive ebike. The bike is terrible slow. I'm using this bike only in closed course private land. Is there a way to ope. The bike up? It cuts off at 19.5 mph

  • @Conflictofinterest902

I must be the only person who thinks that 15mph on a bike is plenty.

    hi great breakdown,

  • @colinwhite144

The controller most have two blue wirea connect 15.5 mph I've got 1500wst on stand 50mph on road 42mph you run two blue wires through a switch 12 v so when on road or yes hide swich but so you can switch it when riding that restrict the bike it's better than stopping to connect the blue wires
