    Have SJE101. Former owner of bb58. This fits better. It’s definitely my exit seiko diver, diver, and maybe even sports watch. I like that the bezel isn’t ceramic. Watch wears thin all round, which is why in this case i like they dont have a thick on the fly clasp adjustment

      @@kylechow6072 One of my tests for comfort is being on the keyboard. The SJE is ok, not as comfortable as my stamped, friction clasp Tudor Date Day, but definitely my most comfortable diver. If I had a wish it's that Seiko would do a micro extension like Rolex's Easylink, but even better is Formex's 4mm micro extension. The Formex bracelet is so comfortable you can be on the keyboard all day. This should replace the ugly dive extension imo.

    I hate ceramic bezel inserts. They are sterile, develop no life, and in most cases they are too shiny. I will pay more money for a watch as long as it does not have a ceramic bezel. So anodised aluminium or coated aluminium for the win. I would hope it fades a bit, I would hope it scoffs a bit. That makes it your watch, and that makes it a tool watch.
    But what I'm wondering about... Can you expand on the "other regards" in which the Tudor will be better? I'm geniunely curious, aside from the T-fit clasp.
    Regarding the movement, if you leave aside the finishing, they made a movement with the same specs and thinness as the venerable ETA 289x series movements, which are fantastic. In fact, I'd be hard pressed to understand the benefits of a Kenissi versus a good old fashioned ETA289x. I have two watches with a 6L movement (limited KS and Alpinist), and they are cracking.

    The "should you buy " question is very easy to answer: you should buy what you like. I own an SPB143 and an SPB 297 because I like the looks of them. That's all what really counts for use desk-divers ;-)
    And even if you are a snorkler of a scuba diver, any depth rating above 50 m is ok. Yes, for scuba diving too, because you don't dive deeper than 50 m anyway.

    I like the 6L movement. Hoping for an SJE version of the 1968 diver that the MM300 is based on since it’s my favorite Seiko diver design and will be more wearable as a daily driver than my SBDX017. Just hope they put the damn date at 3 (or gasp…a no date) but most likely they will put it at 430 like all their new divers. That clasp does suck ass but I’d wear it on a rubber strap. No ceramic bezel for me. I’m on team aluminum bezel.

    I’ve always been of the opinion the 62MAS was boring as hell considering what followed. It a a run if the mill skin diver case with nothing original or to be proud of. The 6215, 6159, 6305 etc just changed the game and are really great watches. My favorite being the 6159-7001. The markers. The movement and the case are all incredible.

    *Based ONLY on videos & photos (in person could be another impression) the dial color strikes me (my opinion, yours could be much different) as too dressy, even dainty, for a diver. This could be a prudent, even savvy strategy to capture sales from customers who dislike chunky wrist bricks masquerading as watches, who perceive the color as enhancing daily wear suitability.*

  • @Ae073001
    @Ae073001 4 месяца назад +1

    It looks fine and has Seiko charm, but in my opinion, Seiko is falling behind in various areas, especially value for money. Not only have many microbrands caught up with Seiko, but they've surpassed them in many areas.
    1. At this point, there is no excuse for not having any microadjustment on their clasps. Every microbrand I have not only have microadjustment in their clasp but also quick release bracelets. Erebus and Zelos, for under $500, has both, and they're pretty dang good. It seems Seiko is just being stubborn, as this is something thats been expressed for years. What a disappointment.
    2. There is no excuse for anything over 1k to not have ceramic bezels. Seiko keeps doing this coating over steel to give the illusion of ceramic without giving ceramic. Again, microbrands give ceramics at less cost than Seiko. I have 2 brands, Nodus and Ginault, that have fully lumed sapphire bezels, which, to me, is better than ceramic. The Nodus is $825, and the Ginault is $1400, but a 2k Seiko still has a steel bezel, which "seems" to be a cost cutting measure. Come on Seiko!
    3. The movements are behind and have always been behind. Unless one moves upmarket a few k to a GS or a top tier 3k and above watch, the movement is going to be subpar. A SW300 in watches at or below Seikos 2k offerings far outpreform what Seiko offers. I had a Monta Skyquest-Coke, and out the box, it was guaranteed COSC levels, not this wide range of deviation that may or may not be the case in Seiko's.
    The place in my heart that used to be occupied by seiko has now been replaced with microbrands. They may not have the name or heritage, but they will definitely push the envelope to get customers what they want without the shell game or breaking open the bank. I truly do hope they start listening and responding or they will lose more and more customers to brands that will give us what we are looking for. If Seiko just implements the few things I and others are and have been asking for...game over.
    Anyway, apologies on length. Lol
