The only part of my seiko 5 that needed changing was the balance spring (1 time) and the magic lever (1 time) since the purchase. The watch have an accuracy -+10 s/day which imo quite remarkable.
Picked up the silver dial one for like $90. Swapped to a suede black strap and it’s like my everyday watch lol. Over my Longines, Christopher Ward, Tissot’s, and other Seikos. It’s just so simple and sleek. Goes with everything. Don’t have to worry about it getting banged up. And the Lume does a pretty good job as well. Love the red/blue colors on Sat/Sun day date too
The Lume was still visible after 30 Minutes , better than the lume of all other watches in my collection including Swiss Made watches which i paid more than 1000 Dollars .
This is precisely the kind of watch you should buy instead of buying a fake/clone of a super expensive brand watch. Personally I'd have way more pride in owning and wearing this than a fake Rolex.

I have a Seiko 5 SNXL72 , i really love the design , the case size , the weight and the powerful lume which was still visible after 30 minutes , incredible how they can do it better than more expensive watches and brands , but i had a big issue with the accuracy it was running 5 seconds to fast per hour , this is the third day and the watch is performing much better now , but the day and date didn't switch after midnight .
You measured the watch wrong. The 30 m water resistant thing is completely meaningless, and I think it’s always very important to emphasize than any video about watches, because the watch industry does not tell customers this fact upfront
This is where common sense comes in really handy. It is not a dive watch and it is inexpensive to expect too much out of it. For instance, I bought a $4.5k Tag Heuer calibre 16 link chronograph automatic with a screw down crown and rated 100m water resistant. I took it swimming many times and even took it down to 30 feet recreation diving with no problem. I recently acquired a 100m rated Omega Speedmaster broadarrow GMT with a push pull crown and 2 pushers. I would never dare take it swimming. Being it is not a screw down crown and far more expensive than my other watches to risk it. Love Seikos by the way. My favorite is my orange face SSK GMT.

I've been tracking the prices, and when they started selling oyster style bracelets, the SNXS in particular started going up in price. An original in very good condition could be worth up to $400, two years ago it was $50.

The watch is great, I got mine about 2 weeks ago... Why though don't Seiko get the bracelets right on these...? Just about everyone who can will swap the existing bracelet for something like a Jubilee, but here Seiko make it difficult because it needs a 19mm lug width, not 18, not 20 but 19mm. If they made and sold these on a decent Jubilee bracelet - Perfect Seiko 5.
Swiss movements are superior to Seiko movements with the Grand Seiko exception. Seiko automatics have balance issues whereas I seldom have to adjust the hair springs on a Swiss Automatic movement. dlcooper, master watchmaker.
Superior. Bulova has automatic watches with either Swiss movements or the Citizen Miyota automatic. Choose the Swiss movement it is superior to the Japanese movement.

That’s a SNXS79J1 you’ve got there, J1 means it’s made in Japan and also have 21 Jewels written under the Automatic whereas K1 were made in Malaysia and doesn’t have 21 Jewels under the Automatic. Quality is still the same so don’t worry about it

Seiko is the best brand in the world. But there are hundreds of good watches at this price and less. The best watch in the world for the money is a $65 Casio marlin.It’s not an automatic but you only have to change the battery once every two or three years. But Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
i think it's not the brand but the model , a brand can make boring watches and then boom something like this which becomes a best seller for different reasons .
As a watchmaker (certified master horologist) I find the Seiko 5 to be an okay watch, for the money. I am not impressed with the balance & suggest one step up to Swiss moments which have superior balances. Unless one is spending more for the Grand Seiko.
For japanese made watch...30 meters is just 'safe level'...it could go beyond that i believe...i had a Seiko 5 SNKL45K1 and i took a shower everyday with that watch...wash it with alot of soap...not even single drop of water went into the watch

Agree,I've seen this used on a shallow scuba dive (10/20 MTRS) so honestly it's good for anything you'll want it for.
