There is a feeling you get from a operating a vessel like this that no modern craft can offer. You instantly become a participant in her history. WWII was in full roar when she was first launched. Train was a common mode of transport, no TV's, no cell phones, no jet travel. At the helm your are immediately transported into a simpler time, that intensifies that natural feeling of wonder, whenever you head out into the chuck. What a simply gorgeous vessel that will always hold pride of ownership. I empathize with the current owner, who's time has come to pass her onto a new caretaker, that I can't help but envy. Now that's a boat.
Such a warm and inviting liveaboard, built from the bones of a powerful workhorse! Whoever buys this boat is going to have the utmost comfort and safety
That boat looks like it's built tough! What a cool vessel with an amazing history. This one is meant to turn heads for sure. And what a great conversation-starter! Great video Richard and team!
I have to say it’s been really well thought out and the details are evident, I would guess it has a water maker if you’re going 2000 miles or thereabouts. Somebody was right to convert this vessel and it works so well. Whoever is fortunate enough to own this will be certain to have a great time wherever they go.
You always find the most unique boats!! Love how you explain and make sure the boat has a well cared for engine. Yes, serious Boat , love your passion!!!
Once again, it is wonderful to see you Mr. Evans! What a great video and thorough showing of a very robust and sea-worthy vessel! Even though she id quite a bit older, i am willing to bet that she could handle almost anything Neptune could throw at her. A beautiful boat!!! That much boat for under $400,000 is a true bargin! Honestly.
Beautiful, I could very easily live on her. She's so well-found and solidly built I'd feel confident to take her anywhere in the Americas. At the same time, she's not overly fancy so easy to keep looking good. All she needs is a nice size RIB tender.
@@joesutherland225 I went onto the website and they had some more information. yes it is a wooden hull and the fuel consumption was there too, its not the best. That ole Deutz will be hungry and it is an old tug boat, so you just know it will be drinking the fuel. You would definitely want to move it to a bay some where and use as a mothership.
@@wornoutwrench8128 yeah great live aboard but expensive to do what it's meant for and wood boats are labor intensive to maintain properly in and outs can get expensive to lol .beauty though
Truly a boat out of our history books and we don't get to see many like her age in today's time of 82 years old. I'm so glad she's been taken great care of. Was it a 12,000 or 18,000 lb boat lift on her upper deck. You can have a huge fishing boat with anything you can fit or squeeze on the boat deck floor, but then you are just adding upper weight and we don't need that. So stay with a light 14 to 16 foot rib boat and 10 HP outboard. I love this boat an the history and the age makes it more valuable to us who truly love and appreciate old boats and today's boats. Another great boat video Mr. Richard. I don't know of anything about it I would want to change on her, maybe after living on it for a while I might come up with a idea. Not changing out the TV's to a bigger size or newer. No I don't watch TV anymore. I might make all bridge monitors all the same so they're bigger for us older people who have vision problems to see screams easier. Great boat and tell owner who's selling her, he took very good care of her for the past 20 years and who ever buys her will enjoy her as much as all the prior owners have. Take good care of her and she will take you out on a great adventure and bring you safely back home.
Thanks for your comments Terry. She certainly was a joy to video. To answer your question, the davit has a 20,000 capacity. More than enough for anything that you would want to lift.
Thank you so much for walk through. I was thinking that that FIRE pump could also be used for DEWATERING in a Emergency situation. Just my Humble opinion. What a beast on Deack crain & size of Hook to moor you in those fantastic inlets on inside passage of Vancouver mainland. The vessel you show just keep getting better. You are so lucky to cruise with these Fantastic vessels.
I just love these boat tours by Calibre - Very disappointing though that our old friend did NOT ring that ships bell. He opens all the cupboards, demonstrates the oven etc....But no bell!!! Only kidding pal!!
Fun work boat for Alaskan waters. She is a most practical vessel to convert into a small school ship for middle aged folks that need some movable deck space to move and develop balance and sea skills on. Renewable energy systems with some new deep cycle energy management would be welcome and a great contrast to the historic 32V dc system. SHe has been rewired and I would love to see the install. A tuff IT server for managing on board production and cinema work flow for the crew. ARCGIS & Lidar missions above sea, rov and auv below sea and ICE edge. I would love to learn the complete history of this vessel. She is big enough for a small 100 ton sea school, with mission connecting Alaskan and Canadian schools with progressive coastal programing during these challenging times ahead. What will the USCG suggest we do with this vessel to comply with the tuff Arctic brash navigation regulations. Was she built to ice standers?
A lovely, unique craft. My concern though, given her notably shallow draft, plus the addition of all that superstructure, is she not somewhat unstable, prone to roll?
No chrome or wood rails to take care of. All painted for easy maintenance. Not sure about the heat vent in the bottom of the wet locker with dripping equipment. Water would go into the vent. 2,000 nm range at 9kts which is pretty quick for that distance. Drop it to 7kts and get 3,100 miles. It's built like a tank and maintained very well.
There is a lot I like about this boat. I suspect there is not enough freeboard to get it safely across the Pacific to Japan and Korea let alone the Atlantic to the UK. It's very cottagey, which I usually like but not in this context. I think if I were to buy this boat, I would want to upgrade the interior significantly, and add AC. But a single engine and rudder means no redundancy.
Hi R. Sebottendorff - UPDATED: It is now available in 4K video! Check it out! Thanks again :) Yes - Thank you for that great question! Our videos are all shot in 4K video. RUclips has still not finished processing the 4K version today in 4K - so until its done they launch it in SD 360p only.. Please come back in a few hours when RUclips is done processing and see our video in it's full 4K glory! Thanks for watching and following us! :)
Nice boat but Richard is way out of his element on this one. This is a historical boat and should be talked about in a different way than his usual smooth salesman pitch. This boat appeals to a different set of buyers than most of the boats featured on this channel and needs no silly sales pitch. But hey, at least we got to see her!
My wife's uncle was captain of this boat for years in its tug days. I only wish I could bring back to the family.
Richard is incomparable, the best presenter of all.
Thank you Vince. I get good coaching

Wow. what a boat. imagine the head turns when you pull into an anchorage with this baby.
I haven't seen Richard this excited about a boat in a while. He even "got ahead of himself". Always fun!
WOW!! Such a cool boat! A real piece of history.
Grand ol boat . Someone Going to get a jewel.
What an amazing vessel! 😍
Beautiful.

This guy exudes positivity I love it!!
Fantastic! We’ll done Richard. Someone will keep her history going and I look forward to seeing her on the coast.
Thanks Ross. A beautiful piece of history here eh
These tugs are such jolly little vessels. Happily pushing and pulling and running around. They know how to be very physical, or use great finesse

Mr. Evans is the Mr. Rogers of boats! Awesome vessel.
Thank you David
What a cool piece of history! I can see myself running this amazing ship and circumnavigating the island!
You can always tell when an old boat was built well, its still floating!😊
And in remarkable condition too
Unusual boat! Shallow draft , 8'?
Nice historical boat along with the TVs.

your right Trey. the original tug was built to haul log booms across the Nitnat bar, which can be a very rough piece of water. Robust indeed
That's the coolest boat I've seen in your inventory so far ...well done Gordon...Australia...

Dang, that is nice. And even better, its in my home port.
I kept thinking things looked very familiar.

The website link states that it is 1000 lbs. Sooo some confusion here.

Wow what a classic. Hubby wants to know the brand of your hat. Great job love your videos.
Been waiting for a new video, this guy needs to move to Miami or Monaco and sell super yachts.
Awesome!
Great job Richard
Thank You Steven
@ 9:40 You are clearly having a good time with your presentation ... a diesel stove puts out warm quality heat. 🌅
Top Notch !!! never knew oak could stand up to sea salt air climates.
Always a great broker tour!
Extraordinary yacht. The Onassis yacht Christina is the same age, and was also Canadian built hull. Age is not an issue.
Cool boat man very beautiful boat
You guys need to make more reviews!
Very cool boaat
Tell us more about the windows Richard. Are they tempered? How thick are they? Can they withstand a rouge wave? Answer.
Thank you ..thank you....thank you....

Very lekker indeed
Well used but looks good..I would love to own..
what a beautiful boat. bigger fuel tanks for 3500nm and this would be the perfect explorer vessel. 300k usd july-23
My kids had to ask what’s with the little TV’s with a VHS tape. I told them when you’re on a boat like this you don’t need TV…enjoy the outside.

Some pretty creative ideas there Carl. Thanks for your thoughts.
Steel hull. Always ice cold in those lower berths. No centralized heat system. Looks great.
No...she's wooden hull.
Very nice!
A lovely, unique craft. My concern though, given her notably shallow draft, plus the addition of all that superstructure, is she not somewhat unstable, prone to roll?
She was always a great sea boat.
Large tankage and very heavy planking and framing gives it a very heavy hull.
She's still 8 feet deep.
Price ?
Love the boat and the history. But that old engine with 13,000. Hours on it scares me.
I'm in lust..... :-D That is my kind of boat.
Has a survey been done recently ?

Hello Sir. Kindly intimate the asking price
Incredible, what a conversion so nicely done. Freezer and W/D..............Damn 54" Prop. And yes love that compass.
Looks like a tough ol girl!
No thrusters on a 72’ yacht?
I don't get it. Is the hull now aluminum? It doesn't look like wood planks.
Aluminum wheelhouse on a wood hull.
10/10 asmr
Geographically, you are in Canada's, Pacific South-west.
Could have been said in half the time.
That’s not a boat that’s a ship a beautiful one
Outside cleaning will be easy. No Teak or stainless
The amount of commercials they cram into this video are ridiculous
Use an ad-blocker. Problem solved!
nice boat but would need a wee bit of cash spent on her.
OK Mr Bill where is your yoyo
24:47 .. Stevie Wonder welded that himself.
A great video of an historical boat to look at, but I sure wouldn't want to live their....
Not for me. Looks like a half thought out charter boat style interior someone tried to make homely.
A wooden boat isn't a bargain at free. Try insuring one for instances.
