As a Texan, I appreciate no-cook meals this time of year. And...I love that you just let the tofu stand more on it's own with just a sauce. @@u.twinston2343 Between Derek and Nard Dog Cooks the selection of good recipes is not challenging. I'm actually enjoying it so far. But I've just started so I can't talk about long term.
@@u.twinston2343 I've been vegan for about 6 years now and also wish I'd started much sooner. I have gone from 230lbs with no muscle to maintaining around 170lbs for a while, but I don't know if I would necessarily say that this change was because of the switch to being plant-based. There was a slight weight drop to like 215 after I switched, but nothing crazy because I initially did the switch for the animal and didn't care about my own health. I was the vegan living mostly off of vegan junkfood and shoving Oreos in my face all the time. It was only when I started also caring more about my own health and focused more on eating more wholefoods and fitting regular exercise into my days when I started noticing the bigger long-lasting health change. I guess the long-story-short here is I think on both ends of the meat-vegan spectrum there are ways that you can make a diet healthy or unhealthy. If you think simply switching an unhealthy omnivore diet to an unhealthy plantbased diet, I can't guarantee that you'll notice that massive of a difference weight-wise. However, if you're thinking about going vegan for the animals or the environment and are worried about it negatively impacting your health, then I would highly encourage you to go for it, do some research on how to do it right, and be smart about it (but hell, you can still let yourself enjoy Oreos too from time to time). 💚🤘

Thanks for making an easier meal to make! It’s helpful for people like me who are not advanced cooks, at least not yet. I also appreciate your kindness towards Frankie 🐶. They are precious beings.
Here in NZ we call them filled rolls, the rolls are usually about 15cm long, although in cafes they can be like yours. Love Frankie, she reminds me of our family dog when I was growing up - Cas. That simple salad is a great thing to show in a video. Simple to you but not a known method for many people at home. The dressing looks awesome too. Waiting for summer time so I can make some of these meals....
Derek, thank you so so much for listing the full recipe out in all your videos. It makes following your recipes so much easier when it comes to cooking. Your videos are so relaxing to watch, recipes are amazing, music is so soothing (love the classical). This channel is the best vegan channel in all the years I have seen. Thank you again.
So refreshing that you share the loving relationship between you and your big fur baby 🥹🥰 Thank you for creating these videos and awesome simple recipes. Know that the message of compassion shines though! Happy summer cheers to you and Frankie 💙
Wowie Zowie Spłat Pow Derek!!! Another amazing meal with healthy and yummy in the combination! Thank you for being soooo very delightful, thoughtful and compassionate! I look forward to making this! Blessings for your generous love of food you bring to us to make the world a better place!
My dog LOVES cheese...she can even smell it from outside in the garden. As soon as the ch....(I daren't even say the word within fifty paces of her) is out the fridge, she's there, bum planted on the floor, goofy grin on her face. When I make maccy or caulie ch..., I have to grate the ch... and hide it in a cupboard....but she knows. Oh, she knows! LOVE your videos and your enthusiasm. Thank you ☺
I spoil my animals too! I have 2 adorable Havanese who love tofu. I just had to tell you it is lunchtime and I went right in and used the 1/2 block of extra firm I had left and made that tofu salad. I used jared pepperacini instead of the pepper you use but just 1 Tbs vegan mayo, some mustard & a sliced up pickle spear and OMGoodness - it was DELICIOUS!!! The nooch and mustard made all the difference and kicked up the flavor. I actually couldn't believe it. I put it over my salad that has red cabbage, arugula, lettuce, cucumber & carrot - and am ready to dig in now. I have to say I love your videos and the food is totally mouthwatering. I try not to use as much oil, as I am trying to lose weight but you are a wonderful chef, a great inspiration, and I so appreciate the help in being Vegan. Blessings to you. Oh, and I'm from NY where they call the sandwiches a hero, but I live in CT where they are called grinders...
I love your videos and the person you are. I love that you love your precious dog. I am not vegan, but introducing meatless meals to the family and they love them. Thank you for touching my life and changing it for the better.
Hi Derek, I’m originally from Switzerland but I now live in the USA. We call that bread baguette. I so enjoy your videos. The meals are so lovingly prepared and your interaction with your dog is so genuine (she is beautiful). Wish we could meet since I don’t have any friends that are as passionate about food as I am. All the best and keep up the good work.
I've been going through an exhaustion so intense that I can't cook, even though I love to. As a result, I haven't been eating as much as I need to. This sandwich looks delicious and like something I can manage making. I can't wait to try this. Thanks Derek 💚

I have an 6-8 hour convention for 3 days at the end of the week, this would be a perfect lunch to take. I appreciate your saying that it can be a salad too. Bread carbs might make me sleepy when I need to pay attention. Thanks again for making the video.

I Live in Arkansas now, but I grew up in Berkeley, CA. We called them Sub Sandwiches when I was growing up. In fact, we had a sub shop called Quizno's and one called Subway. Both sold subs
You just rocked my world w/ this salad and sandwich thank you and your dog so much!
Ours too! Loved this no cook content. Everything looks absolutely sooo yummmmm.
Heaps of best wishes!
Beautiful man! Beautiful Frankie! Beautiful sandwich!
Enjoyed every moment.
Glad you enjoyed it
This video honestly made me so happy❤️
Love your videos Derek! Simple recipes are great. I never learned how to cook so I’m really enjoying understanding the basics from you. Everything from clean up to layering flavor. And of course always love how you advocate for the animals. You are my hero!
In the Southeastern US we call the sandwich a sub. We're having a heat wave here. It's been in the 90s-100 for over a week, no rain for a month. These stove-free meals look awesome to me!! And BTW I just love your relationship with Frankie!
Actually living alone i absolutely love super simple recipes...yum!! Those seasoning mixes come in sooo handy...btw...Nevada is hot hot hot right now...this sandwich...perfect!!! Thx!
Colorado born and raised where we few natives call 'em subs (submarines). I'm definitely having one of your tofu subs very soon! Thank you.
Sub or salad this is a winner 🤌🙏
Cool....try maldon salt...also pretty good
You are also spoiling us with great recipes, love your simple veggie choices. Big kisses to Frankie, she is gorgeous and wise, much health much wealth💓
Oh how I love watching you …Frankie and your magical way with food…..it’s soothing to me
Love your channel. And, today, just what I needed! A simple, but delicious, sandwich recipe. So simple, but so delicious "it's almost embarrassing" how simple it is to make! Hahaha. Just what I've been wanting! So, thank you! Enjoy seeing Frankie in your videos. Your playfulness with her is fun to watch. Her cute face! I imagine she is gaining quite the fan club?!
While I love trying all your recipes , I greatly appreciate some simple and quick ones so much. I prep my breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for the week every weekend, along with making my own dog food once a month. I’m in the kitchen all weekend. Sometimes I just don’t have the energy for a complicated recipe. These are perfect!! ❤❤❤
This looks so so good yummy 😋
I like in the American Midwest. Im not vegan at all, I hunt for about eighty percent of the meat I consume. I LOVE this guys channel. The food looks great, the cooking technique and the recipes are amazing. Also the realism with how you engage with your beliefs and your philosophy. Fantastic. Much respect here from America.
Another delish Dagwood sammie! 😋 Never think any ‘recipe’ is too ‘simple’ to show us! We all need MORE ‘simple’ in our lives & super simple healthy eating is the BEST! ❤️
Thanks for making an easier meal to make! It’s helpful for people like me who are not advanced cooks, at least not yet. I also appreciate your kindness towards Frankie 🐶. They are precious beings.
Oh my goodness, that sub (Cleveland, Ohio here!) looks amazing! 😋 ALMOST as amazing as the beautiful Francesca America❤ 🐕
Here in NZ we call them filled rolls, the rolls are usually about 15cm long, although in cafes they can be like yours. Love Frankie, she reminds me of our family dog when I was growing up - Cas. Love your recipes, am new to plant based and I am so in love with your mushroom recipes! I think I will go out and buy some rolls and try the Cry Baby!
yep I grew up in NZ, now in Aus and still call them filled rolls :)
That simple salad is a great thing to show in a video. Simple to you but not a known method for many people at home. The dressing looks awesome too. Waiting for summer time so I can make some of these meals....
Hello 🙋♀️Appreciate you and I love your dog . Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
I'm in Tennessee and we call the subs (sub sandwiches). Love your channel, thanks for all your hard work in making these videos!
Just wanted to say thank you so much for your awesome videos .. when the world seems a little crazy I find them soothing … smooches to Frankie ❤
So refreshing that you share the loving relationship between you and your big fur baby 🥹🥰
Thank you for creating these videos and awesome simple recipes. Know that the message of compassion shines though!
Happy summer cheers to you and Frankie 💙
here in Massachusetts, we use sub and grinder interchangably. Great sandwhiches.
Wowie Zowie Spłat Pow Derek!!! Another amazing meal with healthy and yummy in the combination! Thank you for being soooo very delightful, thoughtful and compassionate! I look forward to making this! Blessings for your generous love of food you bring to us to make the world a better place!
Derek is Frankie on a veggie dog diet or combo?
Your dog is ADORABLE!
LOL!! A fellow towel eater... OMG!! I never dared tell anyone I did that, in bed... yet here you are posting it to the internet... I feel seen, and am no longer in fear of admitting I do that now LOL! Luv ya and Frankie! Btw... Those 'whiches would be a Torta here in Mexico City.
I have an 6-8 hour convention for 3 days at the end of the week, this would be a perfect lunch to take. I appreciate your saying that it can be a salad too. Bread carbs might make me sleepy when I need to pay attention. Thanks again for making the video.
Your love for your dog gets me every time ❤
🌿🌷🌿 Ohhhh! This looks so delicious and the crunch on the bread is everything! Thanks Derek & Frankie from Pacific Northwest Washington. 🌿🌷🌿
I absolutely love the simple recipes! When you share them, you’re not just showing us the recipe, you’re teaching us concepts that empower us in the kitchen. You are an extremely talented teacher! PS I’m making this tomorrow! ❤️
OMG…yummmmm!!! 🤩 I love tofu right out of the package!!
Having grown up in the Philly area, that’s a HOAGIE to me. I will be making this…I love your creations. I also will be trying that salad…I love all kinds of greens.
Frankie gets the best treats! And it’s a cool 81°F here…back in the 90s soon enough. Hoping you and Miss America stay cool! ✌🏻♥️ Also…there’s a guy that looks just like you lurking in your garden. LOL
Where are all the grinder peeps. lol thanks for watching
Grinda (Cape Cod here 😃)
Love this sandwich! Thanks for sharing 🎉
Thanks for watching
Love love this easy recipe. ❤ Frankie. Thank you for the effort and work you put into these videos to help us get healthier delicious nutrition instead of the typical SAD diet. 😊
I live in Australia and 26 deg is a perfect temperature for me! We go up to the low 40s sometimes in summer , so I guess it is all relative to the climate you live in :). Thanks for sharing this recipe! PS. we call them filled rolls here
Another Aussie here - oh I agree 26c is heavenly weather perfect for doing anything in - for us here 40c is hellish hot . Another vote for just a “roll” here. 🙌. Man I’m hungry now watching this super quick recipe!
I love your garlic + herb jar
Mini mason jars, love em
I love greens and will definitely be adding this salad to my meal prep! Looks amazing.
I’m new to you, but love your work. Bought your cookbook. Love it. But, one of my favorite things about your RUclipss is your dog. I grew up with a black lab and we always joked that the love of my Mom’s life was not her husband, not her kids, but our Lab😀. He was such a sweetheart!! Thanks so much.
I live in Spain so definitely appreciate some no cook recipe ideas. I get so stuck for what to eat in the summer.
Oh, and in Spanish it would be called a bocata or bocadillo.
We love simple. Hope to see more simple recepies. ❤️
I love how much personality you’ve put in your recent videos. It’s great to see your goofy (and serious) sides.
What a delicious sandwich for the summer. That’s next in my to do list. I love how you really enjoyed eating the sandwich. You are a real person and it’s so refreshing. Also loves Frankie. I am animal lover so I know how strong the bond is .
Thank you so much for this, Derek! Especially the boiling water over the greens!! So simple and yet so fantastic, and it's not something I would have thought of! Your food is awesome and you and Frankie are delightful! Thank you for sharing the love!!
That kale salad with the sesame oil dressing is sooooo good!! Thank you Derek!!
Chef, thank you so much for sharing your recipes and your beautiful dog. I really appreciate this recipe, even though it may feel like something not worth making a video for due to being on thr simpler end. Thanks again for helping me eat cleaner, and for showing me I can have mouth-watering food thats plant-based. Also, loving the editing!
Of course the recipe was great, as always! ☺ But what really warms my heart every time I watch your videos, is just how much you dote on Miss Frankie (seeing her warms my heart too)... Every animal deserves this much love 🥲💚
This sandwich and those greens 💥💥💥 Probably our favorite sandwich ever and the greens really are better the next day! Thanks for this!
Loved this! Great ideas for summer. I live in Oregon so it was cool to see Jacobsen Salt Co!!!
So cool!
The Derek and Frankie show!! Your food is so, so inspirational. Thank you 😍
Just discovered your channel- great vegan receipes! Love it!!
