- Recorded at home - with excellent processing/production from Dwyer Scullion. What a great job he did!
And for anyone wondering who the one with the angelic voice is - it's my partner, Linda Rasa.
People commenting on the “vocal effects” used need to understand that the original version of the tune had them AND EVEN MORE!!! These two NAILED this difficult tune precisely!!! Think about it…A man, a woman and a guitar…Vocal effects or not, these two did a REMARKABLE job on this tune, and they deserve the credit for doing so!!!
Exactly. Hundreds of overlays. They should watch the documentary short about how it was made. This couple do a remarkable job.
Amazing that anyone would criticize this amazing cover. The only thing I miss, is the "big boys don't cry" part.
10cc overdubed dozens of times.
Don't get wat you are saying all lots of x tra. Stuff going on.. besides girl.... guy.. guitar...and that's the rub.......
There is an ENORMOUS difference between using modern effects and using 1970s tech recording back ground vocals, and mixing it down on analog tape multiple times FOR EACH OF THE 12 NOTES. Then further mixing down by using the mixing board as a "keyboard" by sliding each channel level up and down in sequence with the chords / melody of the song. The "bah bah" you hear the woman singing is actually imitating the channel slide being moved up and down quickly. There are no pics, but they had to have 12 loops of tape running around the room at the same time the were at the console, shoulder to shoulder, eaxh having three faders. The cover is nice work, but comparison to the original is MS Paint vs something in a museum.
My father died. I was traveling to the funeral down I -55. I was an emotional wreck and then this song came on the radio . I knew all the lyrics. When it got to the point where they say BE QUIET, BIG BOYS DONT CRY. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND GATHER MYSELF. I COULDN'T CONTROL MY TEARS.
Grief takes time. Stay strong. Think of the good time and funny moments you had and hold it in your heart
You just now had me in tears. My dad died 2 mos ago…
@@cathyswanson6387 I wish you all the best. I'm so sorry for your loss. My father passed 49 years ago. I think of him often. I'm retired now and music has helped me get through many problems in my life. When I was young and dumb. I didn't realize how important people are. They say.....
Whoever " THEY " are. You don't know what you got till it's gone. How true.
So curious, why would this song remind you of your father?
Sorry for your loss...
Sometimes the classics should be left alone …. This is not that time ….. beautiful version , beautifully done by you both … thank you ❤
I totally agree!
Usually, in fact….
Your comment is the reason that I gave this a listen. Thank you!
yes thank you for this
I saw this performed in Armenia by the guy who actually wrote it. Brian May played the guitar
Anyone who truly appreciates this song realizes that the background vocals makes it so much more like the original. They did an amazing job… The best cover!!!!
As a 68 year old woman, this song brings a lot of bittersweet memories and associations c.1975 because I was in love and he wasn’t :) Beautiful song and brilliantly performed. Just amazing!
Sorry to hear Cindy, hopefully time has healed
Same! High school was hard in the love department! 😂
Truly sad for you...I was 19 myself when this came out...I hope he didn't break your heart...by your looks, you couldn't possibly stay alone too long.
It's okay Cindy!!
I'm 68 also, and this song also reminds me of unrequited love , still beautiful, though 😊
For anyone feeling the sad need to inject negativity, these are just two unknown but INSANELY talented musicians doing a cover of a song that is incredibly challenging to replicate - and they have done an amazing job!! Thanks for sharing 😊
They were fantastic. She was amazing. I've always wondered how that part of this song was done. I always figured it was a tape loop.
Negative feelings should be addressed along with great feelings after all we experienced both in life.
Learning how to deal with those feelings in life I think is the challenge of life. Your not always going to happy. Your not got always going to be sad. Learn to deal with it!
The whole by saying " I'm not in love is a lie" he's deeply in love. So don't forget it ! He's in love ITS A LOVE SONG NOT NEGATIVE AT ALL.
Just beautiful
One guitar, two voices... I'm blown away, it's so good!
Fantastic rendition. I lost my girlfriend in a horrific car crash when this song came out from 10cc. Haunting tune. She will always be young in my mind's eye, and this song brings back her image vividly. RIP Kim. Thanks for the song.
Does anybody understand how incredibly difficult it would be to make this song sing like this , beautiful and you have great guts too even attempt this version , pure music magic , thank you 🙏
Agree❤
I remember laying on the floor, near a heat vent, when my brother put this 8 track in. He played this song a lot. I didn't know it then because I am 5 years younger, but my bro was in love at 13. He and his sweetie married at 17 and stayed married for 40 years and in love until the day he died. Such a beautiful song and an amazing cover as well.
I'm simply dumbfounded. The original was an incredibly complex song to create and you guys knocked it out of the park!!! BRAVO!!!
if you saw the 10 cc behind-the-scenes video of how the song was produced, you would see that this is an incredible performance. 10 cc overdubbed maybe hundreds of vocals to give it that brilliant celestial massive choir sound.
both of these singers are doing a tremendous job .
I agree ❤❤
What a wonderful job! I'm enjoying every part of the song in my headphones, that's an excellent mixing. Congratulations
Perfection!!
Fantastic. I love this tune and super impressed by your version. I cant wait to try i myself. Applause!
@@kimjerkhagen6630I hate it. I was a 10 cc fan until this. I despise weird sounding songs.
What an awesome rendition. For about 4.5 minutes, I did not feel any pain from cancer. Thank you !
God loves you. I promise.
God bless you❤
The original soundtrack chorus was re recorded several hundred(?) times to produce the quality that made the song famous. And here you are both doing it as if that was a whole waste of time. I love this music and now i love you both. Thank you for sharing.
She has an angelic voice.
Outstanding! And yes... we older people can still make good music. 👍 Well done.
What a fantastic rendition of a pure Classic. Clean, pure and almost ethereal. Goes to show that it doesn't need a 16 track sequencer to make beautiful music. There'll never be a replacement for pure talent. Well done guys, simply beautiful to listen too.
There is some tracking actually but that doesn't matter, still an excellent version
É verdade. Parabéns.
No one commented on how well played that guitar is.
Not easy to keep it that clean.
Amazing.
61 years old, so I can say, that was fantastic, harmonious and perfect
Why mention age ? Strange
Well, as a musician for 51 years, I can give a qualifying opinion and compare it to decades of high quality instrumentation/vocalization. In contrast to being a basement keyboard warrior who has no class.
They sing beautifully together and her voice is like an angel. I love this cover.
Hello 👋 how're you doing?
Whoa! That woman pulled off some amazing effects. That was impressive to hear.
Best cover I’ve ever heard! It was one of my favorite songs when I was a teen in ‘75 - bought the album specifically because of this song, played the heck out of it……70s had the best music!!
Anyone who criticizes this song obviously wasn’t around in 1975, this version is spot on, when music was at its best!!
@@IMO0712 I was 8 when this was Out... It's was on radio everywhere... Top of the Pops every week... Massive Hit ... Godley and Cream.... Rubber Bullets another Massive hit...
I just spent the entirety of the song with a stupid grin on my face. So beautiful. "Big boys don't cry, big boys don't cry".
Ha! Me too. ❤
Silly boy 😭
Be poised, don't cry
With only two voices? What a great job!
Excellent! 10cc looped the original so that it gave them 624 voices to simulate a choir . I think the three members spent three weeks in a studio to get the effect they desired . They did 16 tracks and then just kept looping it . The female voice in the original was a secretary who interrupted the session to announce that someone had a phone call . When they heard her voice , she was chosen to be the background voice ! I’m remembering from a while back so don’t shoot me if I mixed up some of the details . No fake news was intended and no animals were harmed burning this comment!
Those who can perform do; those who can't - teach; and those who can do neither - critique. Martin & Lina - outstanding! Keep the covers coming.
This song both brings me joy and breaks my heart. This brings me back to my best friend's bedroom where we would listen to the song over and over again.
Thought I would just give the intro a quick listen. Found myself totally lost in the song and appreciating all 4 minutes and 39 seconds. I wish it never ended. Thank you so much !!!
Nailed it. Was my favorite song. Used to listen to it in the radio…. At night in the coast in California. Good memories…
Great cover!!! I would love too see more from you two. You harmonize beautifully.
It’s amazing what can be done with a guitar, a couple of exceptional voices and oodles of talent.
That backup is hauntingly beautiful. It’s from a time that that sound was so amazing.
The sound of the guitar, the great chorus from woman, the general feeling, wow all is incredible good, the best cover ever!!
Finding diamonds like this justifies the hours wasted on RUclips. Thanks! 🤗
I agree. They nailed this perfectly. Bravo. The older gentleman with the tenor voice is unreal. And her background vocals are spot on. Beautiful. Well done. Well done. Especially knowing how difficult the original, one of the masterpieces of the era, and how it was constructed. These two are phenomenal together. Again, congratulations. Well done.
I love it when something a beautiful as this just pops up on my feed… what an amazing cover, took back to my teenage years.
One of the greatest, under appreciated songs ever written. Poetry grandeur.
How you two can cover such a full, lush sounding song so beautifully just made my day.
Sat through the song with my mouth hanging wide open. Sounded mesmerizing.
Wonderful! My gosh this was a difficult song to cover! That is if you wish to replicate it’s sound. I am most blown away by the woman’s harmonizing. The original in studio laid over 48 voices for this sound and she did it alone! Beautiful and well done! ❤
Excellent. All these summer of 1975 songs are etched in my brain, this is one of the great ones.
One of the most hauntingly beautiful songs, ever. Great version.
A song that no bar band ever tries to pull off.....but these two could!! Great version of one of my all time favorites.
Would never have dreamed of even attempting this song given the technical complexity of the original vocal. Your courage paid off - well done!
Beautiful song and voice.
and The singers themselves are so beautiful. I feel their love. Thank you
As an older guy I enjoy seeing an older guy with some pipes.
I`ve watched this clip 4 or 5 times now. Enjoy it every time. Thank you.
An incredibly complex vocal arrangement of over a hundred voices handled ably by two. Well done!
Well let's be realistic they have a little help. But great job
Actually over 600 voices on the original for the background humming. Band members voices dubbed over and over. It was an experiment with wonderful result!
It doesn’t matter how they did it it sounded brilliant
@AlmostReady504 true. But still a great job. Question though: is the main help they are getting through turning up the echo very high on her microphone?
I didn't think this song could be done acousticly- I was wrong this is superb ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How perfect can you folks get into a cover that had so many voices, but you bring it out perfectly.
Loved it. His voice and guitar, and her haunting vocals. Both were outstanding. OMG! Wonderful.
I watched this a few days ago and was amazed. Now that song is in my head. I just showed it to my wife, who also loved it.
10cc would bow in praise I'm sure! So beautifully done on all levels.
Here I am again, dunno how many times this cover has brought me to tears 👍
This is a completely stripped down version of this song and it works. You both performed this beautifully, kudos.
Yep. This is the best cover ever ! I keep coming back to hear it again and again and it never gets old.
This popped up and I thought...no way could anyone do justice to that incredible song...but you got me - it was just as incredible as the original and more so in it's purity! Amazing - thank you for doing credit to this beautiful song.
There’s a RUclips video of 10cc putting this song together Genius
Finally, a title that isn’t just click-bait! Great job Martin &Linda, angelic voice indeed. I find myself listening to this often.
CONGRATULATIONS! NICE VERSION, ONLY TWO PEOPLE DOING A WHOLE BAND WORK, INCREDIBLE!
Well damn, don't stop now! Give us more!
So good. She's excellent . Love this song.!!!!!!
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. This performance just became another reason why. Bravo! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
When the guitarist starts bobbing his head helplessly, 3/4 of the way through the song, you know they’ve both fxxxxxx nailed it.
Yeah, when you’re in the zone, your body jams along.
Very clever way to cover this song! Love the harmonies, the playing, the singing. All great!
That song had such resonance and meaning for me growing up in the 70s that I was leary to hear this. But you both nailed it! Awesome job!
to say "GOOD" would be a supreme understatement; SUPERB, and yes, ANGELIC. thank you!!👍👍👍
So I had to listen to this again because of the cryticism I got from my first remarks.
This rendition remains brilliant, it's beautiful.
This is how music was done through (for me) the 70's and 80's real singers, real music.
This is what you get when you go to a live concert, this is live, this is the real deal.
Completely AWESOME!!! The best cover ever. I am a fan of the original (for my teen years) but this version is off the charts good. These two artists should be very proud of themselves for doing the song more than justice!!
I saw 10cc play this live at Newcastle City Hall many years ago - the Original Soundtrack tour. They had the voice part on a playback track and sang along to it - everyone sat mesmerized as it had not hit the radio yet. The story of how they created the song that predated synthesisers is highly entertaining. Your very nice rendition neatly captures that sound. Thank you both.
This song came out when I was a very young child, before I started school I believe. I have always found it eerie to the point it gives me goosebumps, but it's beautiful at the same time. Haunting.
Gorgeous, beautiful back up by Linda. Magnificent song by 10CC - brought back happy memories from innocent days gone past. Thanks!
I’m amazed how they did an excellent cover.
Right out of the park you two! I am delighted with your cover. This is one of my favorites.
Brilliant cover Martin, Linda. Have watched this a few times now, amazing guys
That was impressive. Not an easy song to sing. Most enjoyable! 👏
An absolutely wonderful rendition by just two people and a guitar! Their sound was full and warm. Hats off to the couple! 😊🇨🇦
You two are so awesome! Pure simple music naturally! This world needs more real music like this. Keep it up, us old Hippies are digging the real music!
When I saw that this video has 1.4 million views, I was like, wow this must be good. Then I watched and was blown away. Great cover of a beautiful song from my youth ❤.
That was about 100x better than I thought it was going to be. This is a really hard song to cover outside of a studio and make it sound good. Really nice job, particularly Linda, not and easy vocal line.
Excellent, one of my favorite songs, really well done!
This brings so many great memories and feeling's back. Thank's for the emotional visit back to the 70s..Good time's! 🤗
I keep coming back and listening to this beautiful rendition!
I have never heard a cover of this song and wow studio quality pure 70's rendition. Thanks
One of my favorite songs….great job you two!
I'm waiting for her to whisper "Be quiet. Big boys don't cry. Big boys don't cry..."
But seriously, I like her staccato-like attack on the backing vocal to give it that machine-like quality (yet still human) that 10CC had.
The effects used were also spot on. It all worked to perfection. Great work. Great piece.
I was laying in bed and landed on this video.
As I was watching it, I had my phone turned off and charging. This heavenly rendition the two of you performed was absolutely gorgeous and beautiful. The two of you together, vocally are like butter ona summer's day. Long story short, I had to go through turning my phone back on just so I could tell you guys what an amazing job you guys did.
Take care.
Enjoy life and be well.
how many times must I say.. this is the best cover of I'm Not in Love ever... i am a serial listener over and over.. thank you for this gift
Abosolutely wonderful harmonies and tone! Love this!
That song always gets me and you two perform it beautifully.
An extraordinary and great recording. The best cover I've ever heard. I want to hear more from you. NOW!
One of my favorites. Thank you 😊😊
Martin you nailed every chord and snagged the partner to provide perfect harmony. Job well done🥂
Given the studio wizardry and vocal layering that 10cc used to produce this track, I'm totally blown away by your cover. Bravo, fabulous job.
Incredible, unbelievable how two people can cover this multi tracked work of art. Thanks
absolutely nailed it. Martin and Linda that was beautifully done. thank you for sharing.
From a 10cc fan for decades, I must say this is very beautiful.
It's a beautiful harmony that makes you forget the original song. It's such a beautiful cover song.
Beautiful - harmonizing is stunning. I have listened to this 5x today. So many memories ❤
