Yep, Onagers are still dumb. The moment I saw speed 2 ships against Onager, I was only surprised it was not a table. Onager alone wiped VSD before it got into range and before raider and kittens even joined the fray and it was decided from that point forward. Because shooting further than anything else and crippling whole fleet turn 2 is such fun and engadging mechanic
I liked seeing Anakin in a delta and not as an admiral. In all seriousness, having Anakin and Ahsoka beat Vader in a dogfight is thematically neat. #summa
One question I have is that knowing John has Orbital Bombardment, why keep the fleet tight and not spread it out to take advantage of maybe possibly knocking out Corvus and the Arquiten to your Port side of your fleet. Instead of flying right into massive damage and destruction?? Just wondering what the strategy here was.
Two parts to this. The first is that this was a day I believe we were trying to film 3 games. I expected to face John's normal red dice luck. Secondly, the Pryce / Sensor team kick was a lot more effective than I expected. - Ken
I wonder if it would have been a better idea for the GAR ships to all charge left at the start? I know Ozzel could have boosted the Onager's speed up to get over there eventually, but it would have delayed engagement with the Onager and allowed GAR to maybe kill Ozzel and the Arq. Was great to see how good Peltas can be:) #summa
I did consider this. However, knowing that John had Pryce and Sensor Teams on the Onager, I did not think that exposing my aft shields to his ignition shots was a wise idea. Add to this scenario that Ozzel is the Commander allowing John a lot of free speed changes. If the Onager was capped at speed 2, I would have definitely done exactly this. - Ken
This is one of the few battles with onagers that were interesting until the last round. Usually the game is litterally over before turn 5 with the long range ignition. The victory had no chance but at least there was a struggle between the small ships. #summa

I have a question why in the description the onager has Governor Pryce , Senor team and Orbital Bombarment Particle Cannons and in the video ( 11:12 , 26:14 , 41:19 ) it has it Emperor Palpatine , Veteran Gunner , Ordnance Experts and Orbital Bombarment Particle Cannons?
Good catch. The video description is correct. All of the graphics and the original list were constructed around the previous list (created pre Rapid Reinforcements II). This was an error in our part, apologies for the confusion.
Yeah, that bothered me. Part of the issue is that this fleet was built about 6 months ago and I couldn’t remember what I had equipped to the fleet. As we generally play these fleets once it can be hard to keep all of our fleets straight. - Ken

Exactly, you have to go really fast to get to the Onager, staying at range is not good. A slow-moving fleet versus an Oganger will never end well.
This is the biggest reason we do not generally use the Onager. It does not make the best video battle reports.

Man that first Onager roll was sooooooo rough.
I think the errata’d points increase may have helped me out in this battle. Then again John had some rather hot dice also.
#summa I really loved seeing the Republic Victory in action, shame it didn't work out though.
The Onager did a good job tearing it down before it could get a shot off.
You forgot the first rule of flying GAR Victories. Always take Engine Techs!
Nice to see a GAR list without a venator in the mix!
We do try our best to mix up the lists. I intentionally wanted to build a non-Venator list and forgot how much fun Acclamators can be.

Part of my plan was to sacrifice the Victory in hopes of taking one of John’s ships down. That first extreme range Salvo though really hurt.
Snipe is such an awesome tool in the squadron battle. Seems like Ahsoka officer for GAR should see the table more often competitively. #summa
