Added to the fact that there's a narrow landing area to start with. A lot of these players probably had to try to hit punch shots under the wind into a tight par 3.
yeah it does look like a lot of half swings. Spieth even said "see I didn't want to hit that shot" and I'm assuming he meant that he wasn't able to just hit a full club so had to hit a tweener or alternate trajectory or something.
it didnt look windy the flag only moved sightly a few times maybe 5-10 mph but most of the time it wasnt moving at all. the guys just hit bad shots or had the wrong club.

Part of it was the 30 MPH winds which played tricks so some of the pros played it smart and hit long. Others who goes too cute will land in Rae's Creek.

I was thinking the same thing... there are some ugly swings out there. His looks perfect.
I love the powerful yet flexible athleticism of Rory's swing, but Couples' swing is so easy, he makes it look so effortless, even at his age.

@@DeanOMiite half swings are what they play now anyway regardless. Fred Couples is the only one who doesn't stop it mid-way the follow-through.

No, the landing zone is very tricky on the right half of the green
That's just the natural dispersion pattern for right handed golfers. If they miss right, it will be short and wet.
