IIwájú (pronounced [ī.wá.d͡ʒú][1]) is an upcoming animated miniseries produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and the Pan-African British-based entertainment company Kugali Media for the streaming service Disney+. It is written by Adeola and Halima Hudson and directed by Ziki Nelson, and is the first "original long-form animated series" produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The title of the series, iwájú, roughly translates to "the future" in the Yoruba language (literally "front-facing").
The series stars Simisola Gbadamosi, Dayo Okeniyi, Femi Branch, Siji Soetan, and Weruche Opia. Originally planning a series of shorts, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Kugali Media were developing the long-form series for Disney+ by December 2020, with Nelson on board. The story draws inspiration from (and is set in) the city of Lagos, Nigeria, due to Lagos being "the culture capital of Nigeria", and due to both its mainland and island areas having "a unique, distinct feel" that the creative team felt provided "an interesting base for the story". Cinesite was announced to co-produce the series in September 2021, with pre-production already underway at Cinesite Montreal. Production began in May 2022. Animation is provided by both Cinesite's Montreal and London facilities and Disney Animation's Vancouver studio, with pre-production and storyboard supervision at Disney's Burbank studio.
Iwájú is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on February 28, 2024, and will consist of six episodes.
cast:
Simisola Gbadamosi as Tola
Dayo Okeniyi
Femi Branch
Siji Soetan as Kole[6]
Weruche Opia[6]
synopsis:
Set in a futuristic Lagos, Nigeria, the series will explore "deep themes of class, innocence, and challenging the status quo".[2][3][4][5] - Развлечения
Give us a like if you are looking forward to Iwájú ✌️😊
Not really looking forward to it but gonna like it anyways
One of the filmmakers here. Ben got the pronunciation of the show right. I like your genuine interest and I'll be looking forward to watching your review when it's out. And when you've seen it, you can tell Ediz that it's designed so adults can watch it too 😁
I'm actually fascinated by this.
Have you watched it yet???
So we're having Walt Disney Animation's first original series and Pixar's first original series ("Win or lose") the same year!
I mean, they've made some series before, but they were all based on their movies.
Looking forward to this! ♥
Definitely intrigued! I’ll probably check it out just to show my support 🇳🇬🖤
Haters are gonna hate, the guy wearing black is a hater, just because u don't understand it doesn't mean it's no good 🙄🙄
I am looking forward for this oh YEAH!!
I was watching kizazi moto, u should try that
Not yet excited, but definitely interested.
0:17 You're definitely butchering it lol. Let me help. So think of the accents like music notes. Do is "\" re is nothing and mi is "/' so Iwájú would be "re-mi-mi" Pronounce each note respectively for each syllable. There you go. The actual enunciation is correct.
