when ever mark knopfler launches into his powerful solos you can almost see sparks flying from his fingers...i always get chills when he does his solos especially on sultans of swing
Knopfler is a genius. That fingerpicking technic is so unique and just brilliant. And the little things what he is doing while playing ”just riffs” are just sooooo incredibly smooth and intelligence. I’ve been his fan for so long. You can always say when this Master is playing, without knowing the song or seeing the player.
I am a humongous fan and it warms my heart to see so many other fans express their love and enjoyment of this man’s immense talent and the music he, along with his band members have created for us.

of course they are top notch musicians etc, but please contemplate, that all over this world there is always incredible music being made. you just have to seek it out. completely different genres etc.
My favourite live version of Sultans is from the Nelson Mandela tribute concert at Wembley when Clapton guested on rhythm guitar. How true it is but I heard somewhere that although he's played the song hundreds of time the closing solo is always different with him just going where the guitar takes him. You can't teach this, it's just genius. He's the reason I decided to start learning guitar 7 weeks ago, not that I have any illusions that I'd ever be able to produce a sound like this.
You lose the moment you start thinking you cannot recreate this. Trust me always think that you can hit what knopfler can do. Aim for the moon even if you miss, you’ll land among stars.

Mark is one of the few who perform live with an absurd level of musical quality.
No one can say this is not brilliant, an incredible interpretation of an already great song. Knopfler is in a class of his own, few can compare.
Dr Rick Sjoquist none of those can compare to knophlers style of smoothness and Clapton would say the same.
