    I’m looking for a lightweight transparent cover for enclosed winter riding. Guess I’ll just have to make one.
    Update…just bought the Bub-up rain bubble. Worn like a backpack and fastened to the handlebars…lightweight, ingenious, under $150, carry it with you and assembles in seconds. So cool!!
    I ordered some bar mitts too.

    So you basically have to have a bike shop in your house to ride a bike in the winter?

    Studded tires are pretty amazing for winter riding. I feel much safer and more in control on my bike with winter tires than I do in my car with "normal" tires, especially on the really icy roads.

    I’m in the market for an E bike to replace my winter bike and it’s kind of been a letdown to see that all the major companies do not include water damage in their warranties. How am I supposed to rely on a machine that the manufacturer won’t even stand behind for one year? Yes, rain and snow and salt causes corrosion, but it’s not like these bikes are made out of sugar, either. If anyone knows of a company whose warranty policy covers water damage, please let me know!

    The mitts are funny looking but I am going to get some because with gloves my fingers are in so much pain and when I get home it takes a hour before the pain stops. The fingers get cold when I am ripping 50 kph on my ebike.

      Made my own, but keep in mind the salt is very hard on your bike and the derailer will freeze so pick a gear and stick with it, Riding full time my 4th winter near Ottawa Canada. Keep in mind nothing works in brown snow.

    I have a Himiway Cruiser. I definitely do NOT recommend it.
    First off, you prepay $1500 and then wait over 2 months to get your bike. Mine came without the hardware for the kickstand. Pretty important to have a kickstand on a 75lb bike whenever you don't have help to put it together. They sent me hardware for the kickstand along with extra zip ties and such. I put the kickstand on and go to set my bike up, but the damned thing is like 2-3 inches shorter than it should be. You have to balance your bike to the best of your ability and hope even a gust of wind won't knock it over... I rode a few 5-10 mile trips didn't get it out much so I have like 55-60 miles on it. We got our first actual snow this year (PA) and probably less than a mile, for sure less than 2 the motor just stops... In my instance I dont have any ebike dealers close so online was obviously my best option. Sorry for the long comment, just wanted to share my experience.

    With regards to your suggestions on flashing headlights: those are dangerous because, while they might increase visibility slightly, they vastly reduce distance perception. This is why flashing bike headlamps are increasingly illegal in many areas, and why they are wisely not supported by most built in ebike lights.

      Edit: He did say "flashing lights" though, not flashing headlights, and he showed rear lights immediately after mentioning that. I think the OP misunderstood what he was suggesting.

      I got mine made at Badger Screen Printing in Logan Utah. You can call them up and see if they'll make one for you. I don't remember the hat model exactly, but I know it's from New Era and it's a trucker hat.

    • @drekex6767
      @drekex6767 3 года назад

      I guess it depends on the weather and amount of ice/snow outside. If the road or bike lanes aren’t cleaned from those properly it will end up with some days where it’s just impossible to ride. In the other hand, it should be alright on ice with studded tires and below the double digits in centimeters of snow

      Yea as long as the snow and ice is fairly level, that seems to be the case for me. Unfortunately my city doesn't plow the roads and sidewalks as they should... So I've been pissed off lately.
