I don't give a f--- about the "no ring" thing. Charles Barkley was my favorite player and probably always will be. He played like he was angry (especially in his early carreer). His intensity was unmatched.

Same, basketball stardom is not about the numbers of rings you have in hand or the stats, it's about the intensity and the extra chemistry you bring to a team. Barkley put the Phoenix Suns on the map, they were this close to make history in 1993... at NBA's most competitive time!

He definitely played like he was angry when he played for the Dream Team! I mean he was the leading scorer and probably the only guy who never took his foot off the gas and he even shoved an Angolan player, who was also playing him physical, when they whipped 116 to 48 I think! That was awesome!

I never quite understood how MJ exactly felt about Charles. For instance, I remember how MJ invited him to play golf, to better get into his head. And how some of MJ's statements implied he despised Charles. Maybe over time, MJ's opinion smoothed out. At any rate, back in their career days, they had an ambiguous relationship...

@@nozotoThat is true. No doubt about it. On the other side of that same token, there was also an era where they were the absolute closest of friends. I don’t recall the reason or the exact timing of it. There was a show they were both on, and Barkley was asked what he tgought about MJ riding motorcycles. Barkley said that the thought of it scared him. He just didn’t want anything bad to happen to him. There was something in the way he said it that sounded incredibly genuine, but in a way in which it seemed like Barkley had a lot at stake.

Sir Charles is an absolute freak of nature. So strong, so fast. No wonder his height was often overstated, it helped make larger players feel better when they were out-jousted by him.

He's also with his size had a 7 foot wing span. With a 6-2 to 6-5 height if you have that kind of wingspan and solid good size with skills you are a scary guy no doubt.

      @manchesterunitedno7 10 месяцев назад +1

For the player of his weight. Sir Charles is exceptionally athletic, with 40 inch vert + long wingspan. There is also another factor, his wide girth actually helped him outbox bigger guys not named Dennis "The Worm" Rodman in the paint.

I feel nostalgic about the Phoenix Suns of the 1990s now. Charles Barkley, Kevin Johnson, Cedric Ceballos, Danny Ainge, Dan Majerle, and Tom Chambers, who were the main players for the Suns in the 90s, were excellent NBA players.
Especially if Barkley had won a championship with the Suns or Rockets, he would have been able to retire in the best possible way.
It was very sad when the Rockets lost to the Jazz in the 1997 NBA Playoff Conference Finals game between the Jazz and the Rockets.
Personally, I think the Big Three of Charles Barkley, Clyde Drexler, and Hakeem Olajuwon are underrated.

I think that because of Hakeem The Dream Olajuwon, the Rockets had a realistic shot at dethroning the Bulls. Because you have MJ and Clyde, Pippen and Barkley, who kinda cancel each other out. But the Bulls had no answer for the Dream, even though, possibly Dennis Rodman could slow him down. Had it happened, it probably woulda gone to a 7th game!

The fact that he's had HOF worthy careers in two different ventures let's you know how talented he really is. There's been a lot of undersized players compared to Chuck just based off explosiveness, but the man had that and was also an underrated passer and defender; especially for his height! He was a league leading rebounder and inside scorer in an era dominated by legitimate, grown big men and it was al because of his heart and motor to go get it. He was one of my favorite players growing up and I like him even better as a human being.

From a long-time Phoenix Suns fan who was just 14-years-old when the Suns and Bulls played in the 1993 NBA Finals, thank you for making this video! I don't think any other player revolutionized a team, in his first year with that team, than the way Sir Charles did. They went from a fairly decent, 50+ win team that got beat by the Portland Trailblazers in the 1992 Playoffs Western Semis, to having the best record in the NBA and going straight to the NBA Finals to match up with the two-time defending champion Chicago Bulls and the GOAT, Michael AIR Jordan! And not only that, despite choking in the first two games, they only lost the series 4-2. Like Jordan said in this very video, if not for that Paxson shot, it may have been anyone's series. I will never forget the 1992-1993 NBA season!

Me neither! Plus, my cousin Antonio, who's resting in peace now, was a massive Phoenix Suns fan! I personally, I was a Knicks fan, but I'd always root for whoever came out of the Eastern Conference! But that was a helluva series, a total rollercoaster, with the Bulls stealing the Suns homecourt advantage twice, in the first two games, then the Suns making it a series with 2 victories in 3 games (games 3 was awesome, with 3 overtimes, and game 4 was one of MJs masterpieces, where he dropped 55, then Suns win game 5, and they postpone Chicago's celebrations and then John Paxson (and Horace Grant who blocked KJs last shot, plus let's not forget that MJ scored 12 of Chicago's 15 points in the last quarter) happened in game 6! My goodness! What a series! And let's not forget that Richard Dumas was an awesome talent who threw away his potential, and he was really good in those finals against the Bulls!

Charles Barkley is one of my favorite players ever! I grew up on him as well as on the other superstars of the 80s and 90s! Charles Barkley could legitimately do it all! Post people up, and move people around for 15 seconds, that's why they put that rule, where you can't back people down for 15 or 20 seconds, finish with dunks, literally rebound with the best of them, could shoot 3s, dribble the ball, pass the ball etc! He had it all! When it comes to my all time starting lineup, my mind tells me that the best power forward ever is Tim Duncan because of his championships and individual accolades, but my heart says Charles Barkley! You could tell that he was having fun while playing, and he's funny as hell and has a great personality as a TV analyst as well! Charles Barkley is flat-out awesome!

Top PFs in history: 1) Tim Duncan 2) You can put in any order you like Dirk, KG, Karl Malone and Barkley.
Barkley was definitely more complete and skilled than Malone but the Mailman was unstoppable in Utah's system. Dirk gets the credit of staying with one franchise his whole carreer and winning a championship there. KG though more complete than most (especially defensively) couldn't lift the T-Wolves to a finals and had to win by creating the first superteam of the modern era.

My top 5 will always be Magic, Jordan, Bird, Barkley and Shaq, and there’s a reason for that

Great episode, CB was my hero back then. It's kind of sad thinking how great he could be if he actually put more effort into game. He was a pure talent but I think he was sometimes too stubborn. It was always his way or the highway... and he finished without a single ring. Now people say the best PF was Tim Duncan (2.11m), well... in my opinion it was CB(1.98m).

Championships are team accomplishments. They mean literally nothing when judging individuals. Chuck never had help until he was old. Then he had old help. Prime Chuck was a force of nature.

The nickname was * Sir Charles Barkley * in Dominican Republic

Grant Hill summed it up perfectly. He has been so successful since his playing days, so much so to the point where if you didn't watch 90's basketball, you have little idea about how good Charles Barkley was as a basketball player.
He was one of my favorite players to watch and I am glad that he is doing well since his playing days.

Charles would out work most of today’s players, especially Lebron. Sure Lebron is physically more gifted but, Charles would wear him out by the end of the game. He wouldn’t be standing at mid court chucking bad 3’s, he would be in the mix getting rebounds and put backs!

    Of the great power forwards...
    1 Tim Duncan
    2 Giannis Antetokounmpo
    3 Dirk Nowitzki
    4 Kevin Garnett
    5 Karl Malone
    6 Charles Barkley
... it's arguable that Sir Charles was the greatest offensively at his peak

I always tell people when they ask who is your top five if you built a team? I always say Chuck is ALWAYS my power foward. Why? Because he gives you 20-10. EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!

Another great video. To me Charles was the greatest player to never win it all. It’s a close call between Charles and Karl. But based on the ten years I really followed the nba I thought Charles was better. He could do more things. Better with the ball Karl the better defender. But Chuck could defend WHEN HE WANTED TO 🤔.
