PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING!!
After spending over three months working on this recreation, I have finally managed to finish Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain! I tried to make everything as detailed and accurate as possible, but the complexity of this ride is so massive that I couldn't make everything 100% accurate. For example, the queue line has such weird angles that I had to sacrifice some details on the exterior of the gift shop and main entrance building. Also, the Yeti museum is so complex inside that I needed to rearrange it (those of you who know the attraction well enough will realize that there are some differences). Finally, the mountain itself is so structurally complicated that I had to sacrifice the way it looks on the exterior. Please realize that I did my absolute best to make this ride as accurate to the real thing as possible, so I hope that you will thoroughly enjoy it!
I know many of you are wondering how I made the ride go backwards and forwards. Although it is too difficult to explain the entire process, I will do my best to let you know how to make it happen. First, you need to read about how to overlap track pieces (see the link below). Once you read the information at that link, you will realize that my ride is actually made up of 3 (yes, THREE) roller coasters, not just one. The first coaster starts at the load station. It then travels along the track until it reaches the highest peak (where the track ends). At this point, to make the coaster stop there, you need to continue building the track passed this peak (I disguised the rest of the track with scenery covering it). At the continuation of the track, you need to design a slow block brake section. Design this block brake section in such a way that if a train tries to go there, it will get stuck. Once you figure out how to do that, set the number of trains to 2 and activate the block brakes. Then, set the camera to film the view from the second train, which will stop where you want it to (because the train in front of it will be stuck as you designed it to happen). After you have made that track, design the second roller coaster. This coaster should start where you want it to END. For example, on this ride, I started building at the second track switch (when you're inside and see the Yeti projection). Then, build the track up to the point where your first roller coaster stopped (overlap the tracks). Your next task is to set roller coaster #2 as a launched coaster. You must be very patient and try to find the correct launch speed so that it will just reach up to the end of the track without falling off. Once you find the correct speed, start filming the roller coaster once it reaches the highest point and starts rolling backwards (this will act as your backwards segment of the ride). Finally, you must then build your third roller coaster. Start this roller coaster at the same point that you started roller coaster #2 (in this case, at the Yeti projection screen). Then, overlapping the tracks again, have it go forward at a normal speed and continue building until the track reaches the beginning of roller coaster #1. Then film roller coaster #3. After you have done all that, edit all three coasters together using a movie editor (such as Windows Movie Maker) to make the three coasters look like one big roller coaster.
Hide & Seek: If you're clever enough, see if you can spot a picture of Joe Rohde, Creative Executive Designer for Disney's Animal Kingdom (and Expedition Everest), as well as the emergency exits along the mountain. Good luck!
As always, enjoy!

i watched this video when i was a kid and this makes me so nostalgic! the way the camera smoothly intertwined throughout the waiting line, and the random rocks that have become a part of the track!
Thank you so much for coming back to watch years later! This was such a kind message!
for whatever reason, i watched this for hours on end as a kid. endless nostalgia.
how many other people skipped the waiting line part? I know i did
EccoH not a fun experince actually
EccoH it’s none of your business
Me
EccoH the que is part of the experience
Not me
this IS DA BEST EXPEDITION EVEREST RECREATION ON RUclips!!!!!!
This is amazing, I can't believe you made this in only 3 months! Great job!
Goodness! I rode that for the first time back in March, and I have to say, you made me feel the actual feel of the roller coaster! I had chills the whole time! Thanks!
Best recreation of Everest ever. good job
definitely the best RCT3 ride remake I have ever seen!
This is incredible. You put a huge amount of work into this! Very talented. I really want to go on this ride now!
best recreation ever!!!!!!!!
This is still the best Expedition Everest RCT3 remake on RUclips rn so far even though this was 12 years ago.
awesome never saw anything as good as this, pat on your back!
Wow! I'm glad both of you enjoyed it! I know I did a good job when a frequent rider says it looks amazing!
This. This is the video that made me a coaster enthusiast. Thank you
that was freaking perfect!
This is absolutely awesome!!!!! I really respect you for taking the time to do this Thanx!!!!
I was on Mount Everest (The ride) in DisneyLand and when i got off i was like, "Oh my god i feel sick!" But now i wanna go on it again!!!
Disneyland is the mattahorn bobsled
Florida has this ride Disneyland’s ride is different but for me the one in Disneyland is to rocky for I’m not sure about Florida’s tho.
DisneyLAND is in California and the ride ur talking about is called Matterhorn bobsleds and this one is in Disney WORLD Ana dis Expedition Everest
I went on this in real life, It was AWESOME!
This is an A+ creation. Good job!
yes an a+
Excellent work. Lots of nice details.
THAT IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
thats so cool! The ride at disney scared me sooo much! The yeti was all RAWR!! and we were all AHHHH haha i sound really weird. Anyway I like the Matterhorn Bobsleds better because the yeti there (people call it harold) isn't expected and it shocked me more then it scared me
I wish i had the time for this...i learned my lesson my computer cant run any thing else than platinum so i cant make rides like this...IT AGRITVATES ME TO NO END AHHHH!!!...and wow this must have tooken u a long time
Surprisingly, no. Again, the Imagineers are SO GOOD at making you feel like you're doing some insane elements there, so we have to give them a ton of credit. I don't know the exact angle of the bank, but from what I've seen, it doesn't really exceed 60/70 degrees. Cool, right?
Wow! This is really good! great job!
I liked how it went backwards because it show me how it worked
Better than I could have done for sure.
it's already in the video description. once at the link, click on the "Custom Scenery" icon on the menu bar and search for Reaver (listed alphabetically). His set is called LR - catwalks. It's there
awesome
You need to use the Extended Coaster (available only on the Wild expansion pack). You can choose from several different trains, including this one (hyper), floorless, standup, twister, etc.
@bill19641 I promise you there is no loop. I've walked the track with the lights on. Lots of people think there is though. The dark can really play tricks on you, and the Imagineers really make a convincing helix but the ride does not actually do an inversion. If you want to check your sources, visit the Roller Coaster Database online and check it out for yourself.
seen this over 20 tmes now i love it and when the next coaster coming
that was a well good recreation
goodness, did you download every CS known to the game? JK! LOL! you did an excelent job! i see you solved your mountain outer shell problem by using the rocks. Smart. it looks great. i've never been on the ride but from pov's and other people's recreations, it looks like you did an awesome job. even the queue looks great. awesome job
AWESOME work!!!! I can't WAIT to ride this come April:)
hahahaha. I'm sure Joe Rohde was looking that deeply into a RCT3 recreation =P and i do have flags at that stop just maybe not in a specific location
thank you so much for your help
Great job! ;) And the editing was really good!
JOSH GATES!
Amazing!!!!!
Great roller coaster great scenery. The only bad bits were because if the restrictions on rct3 and the merging the coasters together was quite obvious but I couldn't do now where as good as this. Love this video
@BrianxParade Thank you so much for the comments! You don't have to be a kid to love Disney, just a kid at heart. As far as Kilimanjaro Safaris and Kali River Rapids, I have considered doing Kilimanjaro Safaris, but I can also take a look at doing Kali River Rapids.
It's cool how much time you put in to do this.
It is so amazing
Raghupti music footprint 0:01 Walt Disney's Animal Kingdom Expedition Everest with yeti
5:13 i see a cast members only backstage door on the left
Cool! What did you get accepted for? Which position? Operations? Entertainment? Hospitality? What?
Gadget is the creator. The set name is "Roller Coaster Goodies"
This is amazing!
This is awesome. I've never played roller coaster tycoon, but I know all games of it's type have major limitations. This is beautiful, honorably close. I'm a sherpa on Expedition Everest, and I know this ride like the back of my hand. I've walked the mountain many times. This is great.
How did you make the tracks move?
+Chance OLeary it's just a cut
he use 3 coaster to simulate the roll back...
Ok its a nice coaster but why did you let the wind in its realy anoying
HD_boy12 HF also your spelling is annoying.
Turn off the volume!
HD_boy12 HF - Dead Channel it's realistic and it's hard to take out and lave the other noises in
I would of gone on this ride for real if the line wasn't really long the whole day
just go through the single riders line
I agree, I live with a family of four and to speed things up we go through the single rider line
Wait till night right before it closes Disney World nobody will be there. I rode it 2 times in a row like that
Morris Is Amazing just get a fast pass really early! I did that and went almost right away :)
matthew carbonell there isn't a single rider line🤦♀️
anything you see in my credits list I usually recommend =)
Why don't you move up to no limits??
You've definetely got the drive for it
No limits is expensive
best video ever,
Thank you so much!
good making with the sound! 5/5 :D
it must have took u months to build the exterior of the mountain with Shyguy's Rock Set
Awesome, screw all the bull I Make, this rocks!
thats sweet where did u get the senics from
Was the sound real footage
nice Q line!!!
realistic, as always
But the Everest coaster is an engineering marvel in my opinion.
thats pritty cool
Why did you use B&M Track and Giovanola Trains?
please can you tell me how to make the track go throw track more thoroughly because i tryed to do what your link told me to and it did not work thanks.
p.s. fantastic recreation though
thnx BTW How long did it take u to build Mount everest woth shyguy's rock set?
P.S. I built an Expedition Everest ride and it is not a recreation. it dosent go backward since its impossible to do that.
Are you from nepal?
I am.
I recognise this song
This is a nepali song
Sweet! Where did you get the queue line music?
@MrEmpyre16 It is possible; I didn't mod anything. I just used an extended coaster. Play around with it and you'll see. =)
there is a hack that u have to put in the options.txt. i think it is AllowSameTrackIntersect 1 look the code up to intersect tracks.
If you would’ve had the yeti able to move, that would be funny as hell considering not even the imagineers have gotten the Yeti to move in years.
how to make all that stuff
how to make all that rocks on each other?
and is this rtc 3 water normal and wild??
or only normal
or wild
or water
can i make them to
i have normal and wild 3
I loved this ride when I went I went two times in a row I wanted to go more times but the lines got really long
Come and ride Expedition Everest
How amazing was that?!
nice recration =)
Yes I do.... but remember that his mountain is one-size-fits-all, and in my opinions its not a 100% accurate scale model. This method was more difficult but more effective
why you put rocks instead of a mountain
Yes it is.
3:25
GOOD IVE BEEN ON MAGIC KINGDOM YESTERDAY THEN YOU GOT IT HERE JUST THE 1ST YETI GOOD!!!!
where did u get the sound files for the part going up the hill (4:42 - 5:02)
@Cjtiger123 I rightfully respect your opinion; however, at the same time, you don't know what my life consists of. I'm graduating from college in 2 months with high honors, I have 2 jobs with two fortune 100 companies, and this is just a hobby I've pursued since I was 8 on the side. I have very consistent dreams that I follow, a happy & productive life where I work literally 12 hours a day, and this is just something I do on the side. If that constitutes "no life", then "no life" is what I want.
@Cjtiger123 I'm confused. Do you mean I have no life? If you even knew the life I had and how much involved in it, you would completely revoke that statement; however, if you mean that you have no life, then I feel so sorry for you and wish you all the best in that pursuit. Let me know if you have any questions or constructive criticism for improvement, and please keep your comments geared towards the videos and not my personal life. Thank you so much for your cooperation.
I worked in Animal Kingdom. I promise you that there are no inversions on this coaster. I've even walked the track. There are only banked turns. The roller coaster is designed to make you FEEL like you're going upside down because of the sequence of G-forces. The banked turns are systematically designed to give the illusion that you're upside down. If you don't believe me, I understand, but I promise you I'm a reliable source. You can also check any official online references, like rcdb.
Either the Extended Coaster with the Hyper Twister car or Hyper Twister Coaster.
Of course not. Nothing wrong with having the wrong information. I'm not happy I was called some names but I'm sure it wasn't anything personal. Actually, most people think you go upside down (again because it feels like it), so next time you overhear somebody saying "we went upside down!" you can confidently tell them the right information. ;)
Some sets require you to have uTorrent (it's free to download, Google it). If that doesn't work, I don't know what to say. You just have to try to figure it out and work with the creators. Unfortunately, I'm not the master of Custom Scenery. You need to talk to the knowledgeable members of the Atari Forums for that. Good luck!
@Cjtiger123 I understand completely and feel so sorry. I actually have been raising money for cancer research via Relay for Life over the past 2 months and have already raised $110, so I certainly have your sister at heart. I wish you and her all the best.
Believe it or not, this ride has no inversions. It does FEEL like it because of the combination of being in the dark and the sequence of G-Forces created by the track; however, the ride has 0 inversions. If you want proof, check out r c d b . c o m
They were still building EE when I went to WDW in 2004 so I haven't personally ridden it but I have watched POV videos of it and this looked great. I liked the way you faded between day & night shots when going in & out of the mountain. Great job.
Wow!!
Unfortunately, the person you are mentioning could not complete the scenery. Although this sacrificed the way the Yeti was portrayed in my recreation, I decided to finish the ride nonetheless.
I overlapped two different tracks (please see the video description, which provides the link that has the instructions on how to overlap tracks. I'm terrible at explaining it)
tbh this is a pretty outdated remake. While good, it does need improvements. Trains need to be updated, broken track scenery must be implemented, etc.
there is no difference between rct3 and platinum or gold. They only difference is that they come with the expansion packs. Most of the stuff in this is Custom Scenery.
No worries. At least you're being polite about it and asking questions that haven't been asked before =) ...... and the CS is from shyguy's Circus Center Set (1 and 2)
This is SOO good
