It's technically ready to paint, BUT some people want the ultra-smooth finish that only a full skim coat can give them. Others are matching an older plaster and lathe wall.

I’ve never seen this in the uk, I must be missing something cus a plasterer charges £200 a day so why pay him if I can do use this method in the video. I can use a labourer to board up then do this. But there must be a catch

interesting. in concrete, particularly gunite and shotcrete, the 'spatula' is called a 'rod.' he is rodding the wall to smooth and plumb it. funny, tho. with concrete, we would use the rod in the opposite direction to 'cut' the material to smooth and plumb, as opposed to dragging it around to smooth it like a screed. dammit. now i have to go try this. the wife is gonna be upset that i wrecked another basement wall temporarily lol 11b

The trick is to keep you drywall mud clean in the bucket, to avoid" chatter marks".
Trying to save a few pennies worth of mud by scraping your tools back into the bucket is foolish.
This is skimcoat though. Most paints in seemingly half of Europe can't be applied directly onto drywall.

Here in the UK professional plasterers apply two coats of skim.
Not many plastering companies here in Denmark, usually Pro painters do the plastering usually with sprayguns.

уголок ставится на смесь, если просто вплотную на гипс то он отсекает смесь от гипса и имеет пустой угол, его легко повредить или сбить с поверхности.
