    Nice video again Piet with appreciated detailed explanation! Similar method used in NL, but transported over significant longer distances I guess. Nice to use the available liquid and solid manure from your cows and barns in best possible manner. Particular to apply in spring, allowing for best effect/efficiency, saving lots of (particular this year very) costly artificial fertilizer, and further reducing the impact on the environment and conserve the soil, without heavy thanks running over the corn land causing compaction, and dirt etcetera. I wonder what it means for energy used for the transport, via rather wide hoses (12 inch?) rather call it high pressure pipes? compared to transport via large tanks requiring lots more personnel I guess? Thanks for showing and sharing to global community! Enjoy spring in the US, hope it all looks good.

    How much spreadable manure to you generate per year? How often do you do the spreading? How much can you store before you must begin spreading?

    • @pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047

    New subscriber here from the NL. Sorry for asking, but is this your own setup, or a hired operation? And I don't see any strain relief on the hose. Doesn't this put a lot of pressure on the coupling with the injector? realy nice footage, especially with the drone.

    Do you replace 100% of your fertilzer needs with manure or do you still need to add somem

    Thanks for sharing 👍. Just curious how much nitrogen dose that manure contain? And will you still need to apply chemical nitrogen later ? Where I am farming in Ireland liquid manure would generally contain approx 9 to 12 units of nitrogen and we would rarely spread more than 3000 uk gallons (13500 liters) per acre.

    • @pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047
      @pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047  2 года назад +1

      Our manure will have around 17 to 18 lbs of N per 1000 gallon. We're shooting for about 225lbs of N per acre if we're planting corn. We may add fertilizer with the planter if needed, but that depends what the soil samples show.

    What kinda visa did you get to farm in in USA why not Canada with stable quota and price???

    • @pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047
      @pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047  2 года назад +1

      We applied for and received an E 2 visa. We dairy farmed in Canada for 8 years prior to moving to the USA. It's difficult to fully answer in a comment, I plan to have a video on this at some point. It would not have been possible for our farm in Canada to support multiple families, it is possible here with similar investment into the farm. It is also difficult having a large investment into quota knowing the quota system could be dissolved at anytime. No matter where you are farming, to be successful long term you need to be competitive quota or not.

    Why so much? In Germany we spread that on a Hektar not on a acre

    • @pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047
      @pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047  3 года назад +1

      The application rate is based off of the nutrient samples of the manure, the nutrient samples of the soil and the nutrient requirements of the next crop that will be grown.

    • @jung_landwirt7875
      @jung_landwirt7875 3 года назад +1

      Thanks for your answer Mr van Bedaf. We did the same as you. For example if we plant wheat than we need ~ 210 kg nitrogen per Hektar to harvest 8 Tonnes with ~ 12% Protein. You have 40 kg mineralisation. Than you spread 30 Kubikmeter Liquid Manure with 2 kg yousabale Nitrogen/m³ makes 60 kg nitrogen. In total 100 kg now. The rest 110 kg you spread perhapps urea. Thats it. What will you plant there?

      @pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047  3 года назад +1

      @@jung_landwirt7875 These fields will be planted to corn for silage next spring. Most of the nutrients needed will come from the manure, when needed a liquid fertilizer will be put on with the corn planter while planting corn.
