Hi Piet, "Bales, Bunks, and the Feed Truck, OH MY !!" It's a getting cold at night here in Montreal. Lately, we've been in the teens, and we're gonna see only (7c) on Monday night. Hope the family is doing well.
The system with the bundled small bales for the calves is interesting. In Europe, small bales are no longer common in the professional sector. Only in hobby and horse farms with a lot of manual work. We use round bales with a bedding device on the farm loader to spread straw in the dry cows and calving pens. For feed straw, we have square bales (1.2 x 0.9 x 2.4 m) that are chopped with a Haybuster and milled into the Siloking self-propelled TMR-mixer-wagon.Greetings from Germany, David.
Hi David, we use large squar bales for feeding and round bales for bedding dry cows and heifers as well. The small squares are handy to use for our youngest calves!
Rotate unused valves from time to time to prevent it gets stuck in it's current position. I had a whole bunch of copper drain taps in my house which where never used and at the moment I wanted to use one of them, they all proved to be fully stuck.😢
Our water supply comes from our rural water district, although we can be supplied by the town of Carrington if necessary. There is a screen to catch larger particles.
@@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047 what's the hydraulic flow rated at? the reason why I ask is I had a stroke when I was 15 Im 44 now and my left arm never recovered enough to be able to handle the left side joystick of a skid steer but those tele handlers have a fair bit of flow and may be able to run snow blowers post pounders and some other attachments that sure would make my life a lot easier
It's not a law, but if you use well water it needs to be treated and consistently tested to be approved by the milk inspector. Using rural water, we know the quality is good and consistent.
Thanks for the explanation of the cooling system. 12000 bales just shows the size of your operation....thank you for feeding America.
Your channel is great, keep up the good work
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us 😊

WOW that's a lot of straw.
GOOD MORNING ALL 🙏
Good morning!
Your dad was bragging to me about the stacking of the bales 😂😂
😂

Thanks for the advice.
Take out the back flow prevention valve and just drill the center out stops the flow restriction.
Excellent water system now Piet & what do you estimate how many straw bakes you use in a year?
We will use about 12,000 bales in a year.
Your total water supply comes from a municipal source? Do you have a filter in front of the plate cooler?
Our water supply comes from our rural water district, although we can be supplied by the town of Carrington if necessary. There is a screen to catch larger particles.
Will 12000 bales be a years supply and I assume you purchase those from local farms.
Yes, that will be enough bales for the whole year. They are purchased from one local farmer.
looking at a upgrading to a tele handler for filling my tmr wagon. How do you like that cat that we saw in the video?
We have had good luck with this tellehandler. Minimal issues over 8500 hours of use.

@valleyviewacres9120 I'm not sure on that, we only use a grapple bucket and bale squeeze on the hydraulic circuit.
So you don't have well water?is that a law there you need town water? Does chlorine in water affect cow gut health
