Hi Piet. (2c) in Montreal, 12:22pm Wed. / (5c) in Carrington, 11:22 am Wed. We were in the single minuses last night. I guess if the Bailage has some water content, then you might not have to add much water to the mixer, no?
Reduction in the mess that comes with wrapping wet hay bales with plastic what are you shipping off or you have a garbage dump on your property you still have an awful lot of mess to deal with if this works on a reliable basis this is a game changer sorry for the often used pun but I mean it
I was wondering why the strings on bales don't get removed before going in to mixer. Not questioning the practice, just don't know. Thank you for your videos, always interesting.
Hiya Piet...doing good the same to you.
Thanks for sharing, looking forward to your next video.
Thanks for watching!
I was wondering about that clunk, glad you let us know what it was . Nice looking heifers.
Great video! You have an awesome operation!
Thank you!
Amazing strong TMR mixer and tractor in front of it. To chew stuff like that it takes a bit more than a 100 HP..😂
It didn’t look like he cut the strings off of the straw bales. How do they get the strings off of them so the cows don’t digest plastic string?
The strings are cut off prior to dumping the bales in the mixer.
Hi Aaron from Supreme here. Thanks so much for your compliments on our mixers. We feel they do a great job "chewing" through any type of material!

Thx Piet
Sorry for the stupid question
The heifers didn't appear to be overly pleased with their new ration. Was the feed value upto your required spec?
Yes, this will make excellent feed for our heifers and cows.

We'll be consistently below freezing next week here it looks like. No, we're not adding water. We don't add water to any of our mixes.
Im curious why you tarped the bales vs wrapping? Cost, Wrapper availability or just wanting to try something? Either way it looks like good feed!

The original plan was to make haylage but we didn't have the concrete space to pile it and we weren't able to line up a wrapper when we needed it.
How much plastic and labor do you calulate you save over individually wrapped bales?
It's about 25% cost on plastic vs individual wrapped. Labor is fairly similar I'd say.

We remove the strings prior to putting the bales in the feed wagon.
Hi Piet,I was wondering if you could sell some of your products in the Bongards store in Perham Mn. They have products from other farms.
Yes, I believe they have our gouda for sale in the bongards store.
@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047 great thank you I'll pick some up.
I’m shocked that worked.
Please if you shut tractor off to work on mixer pull the key out lock out tag out put a lock on master switch !!!!
At the end of the video looks like one of your heifers is wearing a eye patch? Whats that about?
She was treated for pink eye. The patch helps the eye heal, it will fall off on its own in a few weeks.
@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047 that's pretty cool. Never seen that before.
I’m concerned you won’t be allowed to vaccinate your herd. Hopefully it’s still ok
I can't say this is something I'm worried about.
