How is Maria Franz not one of the biggest stars on the planet . . .

'cause she doesn't sing about how milkshakes give men boners.

On this occasion, the members of the group provide us with invaluable information about the song and its lyrics.
The lyrics for this piece are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries CE. They are often fitted with a decorated rim and loop, which indicates that they were meant to be worn and perhaps provide protection, fulfil wishes or for divination.
The bracteates feature a very significant iconography influenced by Roman coinage. They were predominantly made from Roman gold, which was given to the North Germanic peoples as peace money.
In Anoana, the listener has the chance to delve into a collection of likely encoded spells from the Migration Period and get a touch of magic from the Dark Ages.
The intention of the piece is to playfully reconnect to an incantational language of a period where the North was richer in gold than any other region. Our forefathers presumably enjoyed a time of great prosperity and it may make us rethink how dark these ages real.
    This is the original letter:
    [María]
Athilr Rikithir Ai Eril idi Uha Ijalh
    Fahd Tiade Elifi An It
Athilr Rikithir Ai Landawariar Año Ana
    Fahd Tiade Elifi An It

    [Kai]

THuL So Oth LAU IA TyL
LI RAI WUI IL DAI TU
Han UTH A IUr EL AL
    Dan An ERUI AL EIZ
An RA TIU An KU AK
On this occasion the language appears to proto-norse. The language that the people living in scandinavia during the migration periode spoke in.Pre-viking era.
    A hug.

"Remember that we all are brothers
All people, beasts, tree and stone and wind
We all descend from the one great being
    That was always there
Before people lived and named it
    Before the first seed sprouted"

Anoana literally means “Protector of the Land”, celebrating when the baby grows into the girl and then into the woman and then rotates right back to Maria narrating her story. Maria and Kai are performing a beautiful Shamanic Ritual of protection over the mother and her daughter. Then the Bison at the end that she runs toward is a sign that she can face any battles that get to coming her way. Maria is the voice of femininity, strength, power, prowess, and primality. This is why she is the high priestess for Heilung. Kai Faust is a certified Shaman and Tattoo artist whose work is inspired by the Vikings who settled in Germany. The mid section she’s doing is Kulning which is a herding call to cattle exclusive to both Sweden and Norway. Maria’s BF Christopher who is drumming, is from Denmark and he is the band’s composer as well as producer. This band’s name means Healing and that is what their third album DRIF which means Gathering is over. Ofnir was Masculinity, FUTHA was Femininity, LIFA was their way of balancing the two where they’d live in harmony, and now DRIF which is the album coming out in August of this year which Anoana is the first single for, signifies the child and their family surrounding them. So they are narrating the story of Life. ❤️

It literally does not. If you listen to Heilung themselves speak about it you would not make such an ass of yourself.

(If you listen to Maria Franz talk about Anoana in that clip you will hear that 'Tp The Golden' is probably correct in their reply.) (EDIT: Forgot the 'probably')

The chant is older that the Vikings is Germanic but the vikings follow the north Germanic tribes in Scandinavia

I think the point is that anoana lives as the earth intended, no modern influences or themes. She lives on, off and through the land. The ending is supposed to be left up to your imagination, I personally think it was more of a form of convergence rather than death. Truly becoming one with the planet and it's creatures.

Pretty sure it's a Musk-Ox, native to places like Greenland up here in Northern Europe 🙂 Nice reaction!

When i first heard this song, 5 days after release. The song felt instantly familiar to me when i heard it. Like i felt a deep familiarity within me just hearing it. Hearing the language. I knew it wasnt norse, i knew it was older but i wassnt sure what it was..10 days after release i still couldnt find out what language it was. I foudn thel yrics, and information about it that someoen else posted but no definite answer ot the language.
I told my german friends that it was some indo-germanic language because im swedish and we are careful in claiming things, but i knew it wasnt just germanic. It felt more close to home than that. And then finally, i found out that the language they are singing in, is proto-norse. Proto-norse was the language spoken before the norse, the vikings.
I am swedish born and raised and though dna testing i know that i am related to a viking that was buried in Birka, a viking town in Sweden.
But again, when i first heard this song, i didnt know that it was proto-norse, it just felt instinctivly familiar.
Edit: I can also hear that its not icelandic. Proto-nore was spoken in scandinavia, never in iceland since iceland was only settled in the viking times by mostly norwegian and danish vikings.

Great reaction. Can I just add som points that are important in seeing this? The most important being that the child is born under an eclipse (seen in background several times). According to previking believs these kids had very special gifts: hamnskifte (= the ability to change appearance), age shift, talking to animals etc The previking time and it's religion in nordic countries is much more female directed than the religion in the later years (viking gods like Tor and Oden... )

you keep pausing it in the most critical places. your only/missing getting like 80% of it. So basically, you are only commenting on 20% of the video. If you keep quite and listen you could catch the other 80% that you missed then you can comment on that...
