Shucks! I did not account for the ol’ “Bouncey Bouncy” technique. Congrats on successful pick, Bill. Glad you enjoyed it. 😀 Lastly, a moment of silence for the lost picks...
MAKO Locks, Thank you for doing this. Love the idea of a lock manufacturing making a super hard lock to pick ... what a concept. Can you tell us what other RUclips channels received these challenges?
He always takes a look at the key, also, he talks about watching other reviews before trying it himself first. Other than Bill, he always knows what to expect in advance.
This was one of your best videos yet! I got so much out of this and one more thing; it's so damn nice to see a quality product in action! I absolutely do not possess the skill it takes to even think about messing with but it would go in a nice box and be saved as a goal to work towards. So humbling!
That's a grandmaster level lock. You look, picking that lock, the way I look trying to single pin pick a master lock #3. I appreciate you sharing footage of you being humbled.
It's good to see even a super skilled picking master have a time of it sometimes. Makes poor guys like me feel better. Great job picking the lock Bill. Have a wonderful day
Then my goal has been achieved! Unlike other channels, I try to give you a REALISTIC idea of how things go, not a pre-practiced, memorized bitting, and scripted opening - all in a neatly packaged 2-3 minute video. Of course, this probably explains why some of my videos are not so popular...
@@bosnianbill well I've followed you for a few years now and I'm familiar with your whipped videos and the infamous naughty bucket. All I can say is your skills are still lightyears beyond my own. Have a marvelous day Sir.
Very Nice! Locks are one of the few things getting me through this "crap" so I love this idea.... Really nice of Ben to do this.. I gotta get one of those padlocks eventually. Ever since they came out I've wanted one.. Just hard to justify buying right now as I'm not working.. One day.. Cant wait for this to be in the rear view mirror, lol
Another prime example of where persistence, mixed with a little bouncy bouncy, can do wonders in life! RIP to the fallen picks, thanks for taking us along Bill!
So cool of Mako to send those out! What a challenge that thing was, only true grit and some luck are going to open that thing up. Can't wait to try it after I win it 😉👍
I did not know that raking could ruin a lock for its key, so that it's jiggle-jiggle even with that. And I've never seen so many bent picks at once. Thanks for your do-or-die attitude, Bill. Super-educational.
Why didn't you gut it? I was very interested in seeing what exactly put up such a fight all the while mauling all of those picks! What is the logic after deciding when to gut-or-not-to-gut? I don't understand; it almost seems random. Some very common boring and predicable locks are laid bare all the while those spicy enclaves of secret alien technology are withheld?
It’s not a true challenge lock. The internals are no different than our stock SFIC keyed cores. We just picked some interesting bitting and engraved a message on the keys.
"Next day..." =o I was like, 'uh ohhh.... if he's showing it, probably means he GOT IT!" Woot woot, nicely done! :) Incredibly thoughtful of MAKO Locks too, btw... have to give huge props for that gesture! ~Stay safe & be well.
Gutting an SFIC is incredibly tricky and can destroy the lock if done wrong. Likely BB wanted to save the lock for other members of the community rather than risking it.
A win is a win. I don't think it is a good idea to give it to a random victim but that is your call. Tons of folks here are just learning and they won't have a chance. I have plenty of cylinders in my naughty bucket already so I won't be entering thank you very much.
My brother saw me watching your videos and decided to buy me a lock picking trainer from LockCowboy, one off the many that has the picks in a jackknife. Now I'm hooked. What do you suggest for the next level trainer?
Persistence and luck really are a great combo. Meanwhile I just managed to pick my first real security lock (or at least what I would call a security lock) an Abus 80ti/50 that I've been working on for 6-9 months or so, not sure how many hours in total on that lock but I'm guessing it's 250-300. So yeah persistence really pays off but I wanted to rule out the luck factor so I want back to it a couple of days later and got an open in less than 2 hours (spread across 4 picking sessions). But yeah would love to see that mako gutted, not enough Covid-19 dissection videos on youtube!
10:13 "This key isn't working ... I probably wore down a pin with all that picking." And that is why you only pick locks that are yours, and are not being used....
i feel your desperation while racking and rocking and changing the picks. key is (pun intended) to find the right pick combind with right tensioner used with right tension and right direction.
First sorry for my bad english. Can you tell me the name from the last device for turn the core so fast with one push? I hope you understand and can help me.
Masterlock, check out the competition. Oh, you are not a lock-company? Oookay, toys you say? A susidiary of Mattel? I'll take one in princess pink, and buy my locks at Mako...
Nothing like a turn to the cylinder after some hard work. Looking forward to trying those new picks out even though that mako keyway wouldn't be able to be turned by me.
I got worried... awesome lock...and I love the side switching tool... since you all make those tools... what would be a word of advise, how to approach the tool creation process. I bought myself some tools for reference and am thinking to build myself something useful... I want to build ones for standard 6-7 pin keys, dimple locks, disc rotation, and maybe more usefully tensioners... do provide your advise on what to do and possible some templates or guides how to... 🤘😁👍
On IC cores always tension to turn clockwise. That way you double your chances of hitting a shear line. An Unlock or core removal (Control) is equally as good. Either way, you're in.
How's the drill resistance and such? That's what I want to know. It seems like many (but obviously not all) locks lack one strength when they excel at another.
Very nice. While watching I thought 🤔 what if that removable core was made of clear resin. Then camera on both sides of the cylinder. Work on picking it. Then play back in slow motion.
So a well balanced strong spring in the pin makes it harder, So if those locks with digital pin were to add springs that are strong enough to prevent a pick from pushing the pins and yet a thicker pick will not matter as it will not fit the key way 🤔 hmmm.
just knowing tha tyou had that much a hard time withn this yet never gave up,is re-assuring to me ,leave it alone and come back later is the only way sometimes,a friend gave me 7locks yesterday after lubing them up ,and attempting all ,i got 5 out of 7 but later could not open the same locks wich i had alreayt got open,i could not ge tthem, more lube needed? yes obviously sometimes if you cannot get the locks to open one time try it later ,just as you did ,way to go at persistance...great video Bill

Lol, I thought he had it with the "medium tension bouncy bouncy" as well
