From lacations, backstories, and characters, BotW has taken a bit from every game to add a little nostalgia for any returning fan. I just hope they tie up all the timelines before closing the series.

The soundtrack is amazing, I just wished it played a bit more. Traveling the wilds can go silent for about 15 minutes with at most a string of 6 notes or so breaking the silence. I get that it represents the wilds and all that, but just slightly slightly more would have been amazing. There is so much beauty in it and I wanna hear it!

Groose also has a blue feather framed on his wall- and seeing as how Zelda’s Loftwing is a royal blue, this adds another layer to his crush on Zelda and thus, his hatred for Link.
Another fun detail about Groose's room: if you pay attention, you can notice his and Cawlin and Stritche's are technically one room, separated by this wooden structures that serves as a wall between them (the game hints to this by making it possible to hear whatever is going on in Groose's room from Cawlin and Stritche's, or vice-versa). Notice how Cawlin and Stritche's room, despite being a shared room, is tiny and cramped, and how massive Groose's room is compared to everyone else's in the academy. One can easily deduce that Groose bullied his lackeys into agreeing to move the movable wall and give him the most room. Maybe he's even responsible for them being roommates, as the space of both rooms could have been divided into three.
I think the pared down music in BotW is absolutely critical to making the story and setting what it is! It really rounds out that post apocalyptic setting we’re in 100 years after calamity ganon ravages hyrule. I think the composers have done a really clever job of incorporating elements of previous themes in subtle ways and giving more full bodied scores in the more populated areas and battle themes. Also love the hilarious catch with the bar tab, just the motivation I need to boot up my copy of the game again 😂
The one thing you don't bring up is that your calculation assumes that Dr. Borville has never paid his tab before. Who knows, that could just be *this month's* tab.
I do know that Oman Au (one of the first monks you run into) is a reference to Eiji Aonuma. Maybe that old guy had a taste for something MUCH more expensive than beer.

I won't lie, I was very into this video, as I am all of your videos, and then you started in on the bar tab and I could not stop laughing for the rest of this video!
Amusing note: in the Adaptation of Twilight Princess Manga adaptation, Shad specifically asked Dr. Borville for help in trying to get Ilia's memory back saying ""I thought You'd like a chance to pay down on your tab." I'm not exactly sure how much this would cover, but Not enough, I'm sure.
I like to think that Dr. Borville set up a tab at the bar that hands out free beer to all the patrons every day. He is such a nice old man, right? Think again! Borville is banking on the fact that inebriated people could potentially get themselves, or someone else for that matter, injured through drunk horse riding, bar fights, alcohol poisoning, falling down some steps because of impaired balance etc. Where would all these injured people go? To Borville's medical clinic of course! According to the World Health Organization: "10-18% of injured patients attending emergency departments are alcohol-related cases". So, rather than being the most powerful character in Twilight Princess, Borville could be the most sinister.
The doc also probably most likely buys pure alcohol from Telma for disinfectant. Though for how relatively peaceful Hyrule castle town is he probably most likely drinks more beer then what he gets for medicine.
Here's one you could use next time or something: The Ballad of the Goddess is Zelda's Lullaby backwards. I learned the two songs on my ocarina, and realized that they were backwards in regards to the other one. It's a small reference, but I LOVE it
I want to comment something really bizzar, i know the sheikah monks are named after the people at Nintendo (right? I forgot). So olkin works with pumpkins, yeah, and tells link the ancient swords man Ta'loh sounds alot like Talo from twilight princess who grew around a small town with pumpkins, and hey! He wants to learn how to weild a sword... its a little outta the circle of possibilities but ye
Speaking about musical Easter eggs in BOTW: > The Death Mountain Theme contains the main melody of the original game's Ganon's Dungeon theme. Because Ganon's Dungeon in the original game was on Death Mountain. > The theme that plays while a Divine Beast is getting into position and taking aim, 'The Grand Divine Beast', begins it's main melody with a subtle, low version of Oath to Order. Referring to this being the SECOND time a Link has recruited huge, powerful beings to help him, perhaps? > In the Hyrule Castle interior theme, Zelda's Lullaby plays, but more subtly, it's backed by a sharp beeping alarm noise: the Low On Hearts beep from ALTTP. Why? Because she's losing the fight. She's low on hearts!
When you brought up the music I thought gor sure you were gonna mention the broken Song of Time at the Temple of Time. THAT was one of my favourite moments in the game.
I'd like to think that Bohr Ville IS the Doctor guy from OoT and he's so done with his own immortality that he's resorted to drinking his problems away
I've never understood the music criticism. I _love_ bombastic Zelda music, but it would have driven me out of my gourd to have bombastic music playing constantly while I was in the wilds. I literally play this game to relax/calm my nerves now, and the subtlety of the music is the crux of that experience.
10:48 Question: Why did Thelma not started to deny him service at some point? At least till he paid his debt. My favorite little Zelda secret: During the "Tetra is Zelda"-scene in Wind Waker the Beginning of the A Link to the Past Theme is played at the moment as King Daphnos is fusing the two parts of the Triforce of Wisdom. Which is amazing. Playing the A Link to the Past theme just in the moment when an actual "link to the past" is established is simply ingenious.
Please talk about Kass from BotW please. He is so mysterious! I found out about his family in the Rito village and the past of his teacher just yesterday. What else did I miss???
I misread the title and thought everything was connected; the scientist was a very depressed groose who lives only on alcohol, finally becoming a master swordsman monk
My personal Zelda theory is that all the music and sound effects are diegetic. This is why you have NPCs occasionally imitating sound effects, the Indigo-gos playing historic music, similar locations across games playing similar music, etc. In Breath of the Wild, the fallen state of the kingdom means that it has lost its magic, and thus the music has mostly stopped with only a few random hints and callbacks to historic music except in a handful of especially big scenes.

You're damn right
Amusing note: in the Adaptation of Twilight Princess Manga adaptation, Shad specifically asked Dr. Borville for help in trying to get Ilia's memory back saying ""I thought You'd like a chance to pay down on your tab." I'm not exactly sure how much this would cover, but Not enough, I'm sure.
it’s a good day when Zeltik uploads!
I haven’t played much of Twilight Princess, but after seeing him Dr. Borville looks a lot like Robbie in BotW.
Doctor borvel: "I am the liquor, Link"
The doc also probably most likely buys pure alcohol from Telma for disinfectant. Though for how relatively peaceful Hyrule castle town is he probably most likely drinks more beer then what he gets for medicine.
Here's one you could use next time or something: The Ballad of the Goddess is Zelda's Lullaby backwards. I learned the two songs on my ocarina, and realized that they were backwards in regards to the other one. It's a small reference, but I LOVE it
@ Oh . . . my bad XD
I want to comment something really bizzar, i know the sheikah monks are named after the people at Nintendo (right? I forgot).
So olkin works with pumpkins, yeah, and tells link the ancient swords man
Ta'loh sounds alot like Talo from twilight princess who grew around a small town with pumpkins, and hey! He wants to learn how to weild a sword... its a little outta the circle of possibilities but ye
Speaking about musical Easter eggs in BOTW:
> The Death Mountain Theme contains the main melody of the original game's Ganon's Dungeon theme.
11:01 Ganondorf would die from this amount of alcohol, he would die so hard even Demise's Curse wouldn't be able to save him.
My boy Groose getting the attention he deserves
When you brought up the music I thought gor sure you were gonna mention the broken Song of Time at the Temple of Time. THAT was one of my favourite moments in the game.
The invoice thing is pretty funny, but it might also be a receipt number or something.
I'd never gone in Groose's room but that sketch of Link's face on his punching bag is priceless.
I have a theory that the monks are past Link's either preserved or reincarnated to help the latest Link become the hero he needs to be.
I'd like to think that Bohr Ville IS the Doctor guy from OoT and he's so done with his own immortality that he's resorted to drinking his problems away
Fantastic stuff more so than usual!
I'm glad Botw tried so many new ideas. Game is very fresh
I've never understood the music criticism. I _love_ bombastic Zelda music, but it would have driven me out of my gourd to have bombastic music playing constantly while I was in the wilds. I literally play this game to relax/calm my nerves now, and the subtlety of the music is the crux of that experience.
The addition of a balalaika in the Rito Village remix of Dragon Roost was awesome to hear
I realized that there was kokori forest's theme/ forest haven's theme in the deku tree's cut scenes and it made me tear up a bit
Even more so for me when after completing the Trial of the Sword, you hear a single melodic line of Fi's Theme sneak through...
That old man possesses the fabled Triforce of Liver.
lmfao dead
2:40 once the bag pipes hit the feels started to flow
Well I just have something that might change the outcome of the drinking section. What if like in our money it was a .00 at the end, therefore changing the value in what he drinks and how much he owes
