Josh battles against Luka and his new list of Dark Elves in this epic battle. Will the new list be victorious?
the cold one chariot would get a 6+ save against the organ gun at 6:15 it also has only 4 wounds, dwarf crossbowmen don't have armour piercing, you cannot use ward save and regeneration, the crew on the cauldron get 4 attacks each, helebron gets the +1 attack from 2 hand weapons, at 1:03:00 hydra is to close to stand and shoot and at 1:04:35 thunderstomp goes at the very end of combat.
A few things you missed/mistakes you made. A couple of them big ones. First, big one, you didn't roll for the dwarfs grudge at the start of the battle, hating the entire dark elf army, could have really changed a few of those combats. Second big one, single figures within 3 inches of a unit can get a 4+ look out sir save. Could have saved the Dark elf sorceress.A few little mistakes I noticed. Both Hellebron and the hag battle standard bearer should have both had an additional attack each, dark elf guy didn't count their paired weapon's extra attack. As someone else pointed out you can't have both regeneration and a ward save, you only get one. Dark Elf player cast earth blood on a different unit than the casters, I believe you can only cast it on yourself. At one point the long beards where wounding the witch elves on 2s, the only way they could have done that, was by using great weapons, but they where also taking a parry saves and having an armour save of 4+. The last one could just be me, as I maybe missing a special rule or something somewhere, but how did the dwarf crossbowmen get armour piercings? Which they had the entire battle.Lastly how do dwarfs deal with a witch elf death star? Same way they deal with everything else, by blasting the crap out of it with missile fire. You had more than enough shooting to deal with it. The dwarf player just got caught up with blasting less threatening targets.

A couple I noticed:
Stand and shoot against the Hydra would have been impossible since the Hydra was too close for stand and shoot.
Also, shooting down the line of executioners was done in correctly. You have to roll them in secession from 2+ to 3+ to 4+ etc. and if you fail one the cannon ball stops. It would have been unlikely to have killed 5 of them.
Josh, glad to see your finally starting to use Longbeards with Runesmiths and stopped using the Thunderes as a main figtging unit, theres still a few things I will point out:
1. Rangers are still a waste of points
2. Dont bundle up your warmachines, place the two cannons apert, so you have better angles on big units or beasts
3. Hammeres are very cool and very good at killing stuff, but with "only" Heavy armour, they die alot. therefore, dont put them in a horde, put them in a bus formation. reason; you negate alot of the attacks from other hordes.
you cannot have both a regen save "and" a ward save.. You either use your ward "or" your regen. Also im pretty sure u cant make way with a character, if the unit is engaged with more than 1 enemy unit...

Veritas Vos Liberabit correct those long beards would have pinned any characters where they were as you cannot make way in that situation.

I've noticed that when the Witch unit did wounds in combat, Josh would sometimes kill one less than should have died (ex. 34:58 )
other than that, it was an awesome battle
Those Ogres sure did get short, and the Skaven sure are looking less rat like.
it doesn't matter anymore, I will like any warhammer fantasy 8th/9th from Miniwargaming. I'm that desperate ;(

Hi guys, good to see dwarfs again and Josh showing typical dwarf spirit of never surrender!
Few things wrong. First and most importantly is Luka's head. Seriously dude, bringing that unit with Helebron and a Cauldron? I think you may have some sadistic tendencies or something. While you guys made a good game of it bringing that unit just makes a battle less fun as a good 80% of army books have literally no answer to it.
Rules wise:
Can't have a regen and a ward save, if you have both you use the highest (or ward if hit by flaming)
Can't cast earthblood onto the witches, it can only target the caster and the unit they are in
Crossbows are S4 but not armour piercing.
In terms of tactics I play a dwarfs myself and your only way to fight those witches is mass gunline. Wouldn't bother with any combat blocks. Also bring as many gyrocopters as you can get hold of, you need to be chaffing up the witches and throwing down multiple steam templates every turn if possible. And of course double organ gun with one canon is a better set up as you mentioned. Even then, by having that 5+ ward you are in no way guaranteed to stop it.
Ps. I play ogres too and a gutstar will be chopped into fishbait by that unit before the even get chance to swing.

You can`t use Regen Ward save and another ward save at the same time....if you have both of them, you use the best ward save ... If for some reason you lose one of them(ussualy Regen) then you use the second one...
Another one, you forgot your hatred Army Rule in the begining of the game....

A vanilla Dwarfs army against a Death Star unit with a named Charackter....the battle was over before it started
a frenzied unit with t3 vs 2 gyrocopters to fire their templates in first and redirect the frenzied unit for the rest of the game, i dont see the problem for the dwarfs.
kill the cauldron with cannons and organ gun, doable in 2-3 turns. razor banner would´ve been gone.
really, that dark elf army shouldnt stand any chance vs that dwarves if you play in the right way.
and even if you dont kill cauldron, just redirect the whole unit for the whole game (1 turn to charge and overrun, 1 turn to turn back in the direction you want. that times 2 because of the copters = gg)
Basically what he said, I played combat dwarves, and I know it sounds harsh but he's really just playing them all wrong. The dwarves should have wiped the board with these dark elves.
To be honest I really didn't realize what the unit could do until it was way too late.
Nelso J Combat dwarves are harder to play and require a lot of knowledge on redirecting. I wad ok but I had a buddy who won major tournaments with them that helped me a lot. I need to pull up one of my old lists and post it.

@1:11:40 The crew of a warmachines does not count as part of the model per say only the warmchines itselfe, I do not belive that the Organgun was in Hellberons charge arc and therefore she could not have made that charge.
I know it's not massive issue, but how many times do MIniwargaming want to fuck up the thumbnail? like holy shit it's not that hard. A few times is fine, everyone makes mistakes, but when 80% of the videos i click for Old World Wars have baited me in with the huge ass text on the thumbnail, feels kinda amateur.

Hellebron’s weapons are also Paired Weapons, so she get 1 more attack from that as well. So before she loses Frenzy, she will have 8-10 attacks
The dwarf lord would've been killed where he stood once Luca rolled a 9 to Josh's 5, regardless of reaching the other unit to bounce through.
I thought you roll for shots, then roll to wound? I never used the BS? Must paint my long beards...
The dark elf army is like someone walking into a dealership and getting EVERY add on item. So many re rolls and double saves. It seems so op x.x
Earth blood goes on your unit only. No regen + ward. I've played against a similar build but with executioners and got destroyed.can you shoot he cauldron in a unit with cannon?

So happy that you finally brought the witch elf death star! Bring a lore of shadow sorceress and make them all strength 9! You should have had another attack with the extra hand weapon, and i think you can only have 1 of the three upgrades for Helebron. Not 100% on that.
but i love the new list, hydra's are always fun to bring. Cannons have always been a problem, but adding a hero on a Pegasus with 2+ to hunt them down works. maybe make it a lord and give him the 3++ against magic and shooting?

longbeards were steadfast as they had ranks over the witch elves as they were disrupted from being hit in the flank.
no disruption from flank in 8th edition, you remained steadfast if you have more models
also I'm pretty sure the reroll wounds from the cauldron only happens first round of combat
Looking at the Dark Elf book I do not see anything about Strength of Khaine being only beginning of combat, am I missing something?

Not sure if this will be read or considered but can you guys please have a regular daemons player in either 40k or AOS/Fantasy? I remember you used to have this awesome daemons player called John (tall guy, pretty quiet but funny) and watching matt play his tyranids vs him got me into collecting and painting chaos daemons and i was happy to sub to your vault for a year. After he left there has been no quality daemon bat raps in my opinion due to many rules wrong and no love for their army (sorry matt im looking at your Tzeentch army :P).
Anyways if its not just me then please consider getting someone on the daemons wagon!

Lots of rule errors, and not accepting a challenge with Hellebron should be game-over-go-to-the-corner!
You actually forgot an attack from Hellobron. She also has paired weapons. She has 8-10 attacks
Also forgot pair weapons on the death hag. Also forgot that the witch elf crew has paired weapons, frenzy, and super frenzy... that did that much damage AND you forgot all those extra attacks.
I think Both gyros should have focused on steaming the death star and at least two rounds of organ gun into it.
Earthblood is casted on the casters unit, no target unit there, besides the ward/regen cheat.
Also, the DE mage could easily survive that Organ Gun barrage, she was within 3’’ of the Witch Elf unit and could therefor use the 4+ Look Out, Sir! rule for Shooting at Lone Characters-rule

Do you guys happen to know when new Dwarf models are coming out? I know the traditional dwarves were wiped out but I heard new "very mechanical Dwarves are coming soon"...
ok so I'm just at the beginning but as much as I love the murder elves and really am not a big fan of dwarves, I don't think the dwarves are going to survive this.... it will be like putting a rock in a blender ... sure the blender is going to be blunted but it's going to turn the rock into powder. ya that went pretty much the way I thought, but the dwarves made a pretty good showing based on what the list was. I was actually impressed by how much they took out. just a reminder of how tough dwarves really art.
@1:04:47 - How did you make out 11 attacks? Only 4 are in contact, so even with ol´Dead Eye you would only get 9!
Why are the crossbow men in 4 ranks in the Forrest as they don't get ranks in a forrest and also miss out on a ton of shots

@1:12:49 - You did NOT fear Hellbron, you rolled 8 on the dice, there is not unit in the Dwarf armybook with less then Ld 9, at all.
Her fear magic item causes them to test for fear at a -3 modifier. His lord had Leadership 10, so he was looking to roll a 7 (failed on 8)

Aw, rangers forgetting to shoot turn 1 (crossbows have 30 inch range. Also not that you cant stack regen and ward saves!! Also, because of Hellbron no 5th witch could attack sideways...

Why do so many dwarf players throw away there Gyros. They are made to slow down the enemy so u get more shots on.
U give zhem vanguard and then move them behind enemy lines. U can maybe even shot something with them. Enemy xannot march. Therefore u get more turns of shooting in

I thought gyrokopters were flying cavallerie, so they automatically get sthe skirmisher special rule?
Gyrocopter are unit type: Uniqe, basicly a warmachine that flyes.
Can't you not stand and shoot the way the rangers did if the unit charging is too close?
Rangers have Throwing Axes that are Quick to Fire, so yes they can :-)

Soooooo just to make sure you guys know, you only get to use Regeneration *or* ward saves on your turn, you do not get to use both.
Also, Josh. You cheated with the hammerer combat multiple times. You lost 3 models from impact hits and hags, but only removed 2. You super cheater mc cheat face. And in the second round, you only removed 6 dwarves from Hellebron's attacks, not 7. And also, the king would just be straight up dead because he was caught, he doesn't even get to move first.
So much cheating. Gosh.
Oh. And you cannot Rune of Forging the bounce on the cannon.
Also you cannot stand and shoot when in the charging unit's movement, so the hydra should have had 3 wounds after its charge.
And you should definitely NOT have had 10 attacks on the hydra, since the hydra's base was only in contact with 4 dwarves.
Basically: Josh cheated super hard and totally deserved to fight Hellebron.

first 2 turns everything shooting the 1300 points death star, gyros included, gg
7 deaths from crossbows, 3 from the thunderers, 6 from the organ gun, 10 from the gyrocopters, and, maybe, another 4 from the cannons. Hydras alone do nothing vs dwarves.
Flame cannons are bwtter than organ guns .

There is no version 1.4... now I know that you have no idea what you are talking about.
Just look for Warhammer battle reports on the net and compare it to T9A battle reports... you will see the difference in numbers.
T9A has no problems with builds like the ones in this battle report.
It is fair and friendly. Nothing like the BS presented here. 2000 points and a special character in a deathstar - yeah, thanks a lot for this reaaaally exiting battle report.
Josh, you are obviously taking more responsablility for the fantasy part of miniwargaming now - please take care of good gameplay and start introducing Ninth Age.
Someone obviously can't see an obvious typo... 1.2 and 1.3changed 9th age completely (1.2 mainly obviously) for the worse. 1.1 was fun though.
Don't watch 8th edition if you don't like it. Simple. And solved.
