    THANK YOU. My tail lights stopped working all of a sudden and it didn’t make sense for them all to stop working all at once. I did a soft reset, then a reset holding the brake pedal and that didn’t work. I was about to schedule service until I found this video and after following the steps, everything worked perfectly. Again thanks

    Works like a charm!
    After the physical alignment for my wheel and tyre, do the hard reset, and all my autopilot functions back to normal.
    I'm barely doing it with any experience in EV, just following the step and Voila! All back to normal with all the issues gone!

    This just helped me out a ton. My autopilot, cameras, and GPS were all not working. This took all of 10 minutes to fix it.

    Thank you so much, Naush! Not everyone knows how to do this little trick, but they should. I bet that you feel bad that you took pliers to your battery terminal instead of using a 10mm socket or open end/box wrench 🔧. A great little tool is an adjustable jaw wrench/Crescent wrench.

    • @TeslaInTheGong
      @TeslaInTheGong  3 года назад

      Yes. Wrench is better. I just went with what I had at hand.

    Thanks a lot, Nash!
    "Park assist unavailable" error just happened to me today (software 2021.4.12). Installing software update 2021.4.15, and multiple soft resets had ZERO effect.
    Found a link to your video via Tesla forum and it worked like a charm!
    A few hints:
    - normal 10mm wrench socket will be too shallow. I used 11mm and it managed to grip the nut only just but very fiddly... so pliers could be the only alternative here
    - Make sure you push the contactor connector under the rear seat down all the way until you hear a thud. The first time I did it, I thought I did it, but there was no thud. I then tried again, and it fell even deeper and I finally heard the thud...
    I'm super happy it worked, tho I was a bit skeptical initially.

      @TeslaInTheGong  3 года назад

      +Oleg Kazakov mate I sure am glad it worked for u. I was super sceptical myself. Quite happy it worked. I didn’t even prepare myself so had only the pliers.

    Yup, fixed my woes: Black or slow to show backup cam, constant 'tesla lane departure avoidance features unavailable' popup, turn signal cam slow to show or black. Follow the instructions, wear safety glasses when working around the battery (safety first : ) - One thing I would add, that I didn't see in the vid and may or may not have been addressed was, you do have to do a 'soft' two thumb wake up, all updates, driver configs, spotify, ,etc., remained in tact. Thank you, the perfect lesson, Cheers!

    Hi Nash, When you as k the car to power down you should be in the back seat and wait 5 mins until you hear the "clunk" (contactors opening). No need to play with the connector under the seat. Now you can disconnect the battery and wait one minute before replacing the connector... Full reset done!

    • @Clooney003
      @Clooney003 2 года назад

      @@kirkmaluo No you power down the car from the backseat FIRST and wait there 5 minutes until you hear the "clunk", then unhook the battery, wait 1 minute then reconnect the battery.

    • @TeslaInTheGong

    If I dropped a wrench accidentally into the abyss next to the 12v battery, is it stuck down there until I retrieve it or will it fall out while I’m driving?

    You won't believe how many videos I had to sift through to find one that actually went over the correct, proper method of rebooting the Model 3 - not "hold the brake and push the buttons" (that does nothing but reboot the MCU - holding the brake does nothing extra). Of course, this video ends up only getting 485 views at the time of this comment... while other misleading videos get 16k+. Oof.

    Note there is absolutely no reason for anyone to do this unless you've been modifying your car. If you have a fault that has come up spontaneously the ONLY action you should take is to log a job with Tesla.
    If you are modifying your car (such as fitting trailer wiring) then you should absolutely shut it down before you start work.
    Also, using pliers on nuts is barbaric! No, no, no.

    • @OzVicBitter
      @OzVicBitter 3 года назад +2

      Disagree on the absolutely no reason to be doing this. Two, now famous Tesla owners (Ian and Greg), both had to wait considerable time for Tesla service, only to be told there was nothing wrong. This seems to be the only way to completely remove 12V power from all systems and sensors in the car. As the famous IT crowd saying goes "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" rings true here! As for the Macgyver pliers .. hmm, the jury's out ..

    • @TeslaInTheGong
      @TeslaInTheGong  3 года назад

      Plier 😂 I must say I never thought this would work. So I went with what I had at hand.

    • @FalconFour
      @FalconFour 3 года назад

      Yeah, a big ton of crap there my friend. Tesla has introduced firmware bugs in the past that, for example, caused the audio system to go dead until power-cycled... or in my case, caused the charge-port door to constantly try closing itself (burning out the motor, much?). Hard subsystem faults. Software isn't perfect. Rebooting the car is something that should be a lot more straightforward to do (thanks Tesla for giving us that useless, placebo "shut down car" button - it literally does nothing but fake the appearance of doors being closed, to make pencil-pushers happy).
      A simple reboot like this solves many problems, none of which involve modifications.

    • @justonbrazda3846
      @justonbrazda3846 3 года назад

      The reason would be, I have an issue that this will probably fix. I have a service schedule with Tesla. Their first appt is 2 weeks out. I have no back up cam, no cruise control, no autopilot, no gps, no nav, no auto garage door, etc. so I am going to give this a try while waiting for Tesla for 2 weeks. No modifications to my car.
