6=8!
Beautiful car. I would love to hear it better without the music. Love the sound of that OHC 6.
I agree. The video itself was just fine but I had to almost immediately turn down the music.
It’s so weird to see an American muscle car with a European sports car sound. Very unique. Straight sixes are so under appreciated.
What an awesome soundtrack! Totally compliments the OHC6!
Underrated comment
I STILL onw my 68 Lemans convertible...4 bbl OHC-6....and love it...GREAT JOB on this one Mr. De Lorean!!
Nice video of a great car but it would have been a lot better without the music.
Inline 6 - nice sound :)
Keep this inline 6 cylinder engine alive with some performance parts I just luv to hear the engine roar
Lovely sounding six, I could hear most of it with the music, it almost has a European tone to it but I think they are more raspy in the high rpms. It's also nice to see a Firebird that hasn't been torn apart and abused by a gear head painting it jet black or fire red and slapping in a 7000 horsepower LS3 with a roll cage and no interior. That always takes the fun away from classic cars, the owners might as well buy an airplane instead because I'd be more impressed.
14.6 @ 94mph on the quarter isn't too bad with the modifications the car is shown with, it's really all the performance that's needed. The average everyday modern V6 gets about that give or take with a factory throttle body tune and an automagic 6-speed and some that are not so average are things with twin turbos, such as the 3.5L Ford Taurus Ecoboost. If I remember right the factory quarter time was about 13.3 seconds @ 101 mph, one of the fastest police sedans next to the 6.2L Caprice. I hope you've kept the inline 6 over the years, I think it's more interesting to see a modified I6 or something similar like that at a car show than the recycled V8 monsters.
This is such a rare opportunity to hear what these beautiful engines can do. Could you edit out the music?
I'm a Ford man but I've always admired that OHC-6.
Yo, I love Pontiac and this just reinforces my love for their cars.
Still the best looking pontiac today
the convertibles are even better
Drop the music. When I was a kid, my cousin had one, dark green with four speed. I would like one in my collection
That ohc 6 sounds kind of like a Jag double OHC 6. My brother bought a new 66 GTO off the show room floor. Next to it was a Tempest with the OHC 6. At the time I was 15...I thought the 6 to be a bit odd at the time.....would like to have one now.
John DeLorean was definitely paying attention to Jaguar when he talked Pontiac into building this engine. There was a 4-year period where *every* inline-6 Pontiac had an OHC head, and the "Sprint 6" was the performance option that ended up being rare.
I still don't understand why they went back to putting pushrod motors in their 6-cylinder cars.
Friend of mine has a 68 Sprint convertible, 4 speed that she bought in 1969, in process of bringing it back again. it was that verdugo green or whatever that color was called. somewhere along the line she had it repainted an ugly blue. Said she was going back to the original color.
WHY oh why did you spoil the sound of the motor by putting some stupid generic music over it?!
Kevin Polito because I can do whatever I want.
Well, then, by all means, resume posting shitty videos.
Kevin Polito thanks, good luck with your awesome comments.
Kevin Polito you’re such an asshole it almost brings a smile to my face
Wicked car. Pulls nicely
I bought a 67 sprint new (showing my age) and while it was great fun to beat the 327/300 chevys the motor would not stay together. The 6500 rpm redline and 10.5 compression was too much for it. I traded it for a new vw after a year and man I wish I had it back today. I lived in rural Nebraska and never saw another sprint.
I didn't think the motors made power to 6500. What in the engine failed?
Ya, it’s difficult for me to imagine a six that won’t hold up.
inline 6 sounds good looks better with some weber carbs on it
What a great soundtrack!
Nice vid, can the music please.
Cool video but it didn't need the music all the way through. The motor was music it self
14.6 ! wow impressive, i think stock they ran mid 15 ( ? ) or something like that, you gave it alot more 'ooomph'. what rear end does it run?
seriously, music over the sound? The only thing that makes this car special is the damn sound
How Fast Can The OHC 6 67 Firebird Go With A 4 Barrel carb?
Why would you put music over it?!
What color is your Firebird. Im restoring a 68 and trying to pick a color.Thank uou
So what kind of power does it make then? 260-270?
hey what exhaust and muffler do you have on there
JOSEPH F Clifford Headers, H Pipe, 3", Flowmaster 40s.
I wish Pontiac would have more with the OHC 6. There is a lot potential with those engine. Has anyone fuel injected and turbo'd one yet?
Yes just watched an EFI on a dyno here
It has pep, doesn't it?
I have access to a few of these motors. Can you give some more details about where/what you sourced the stroker crank from?
The heading refers to a 292 crank, which I took to mean the Chevy big 6 292. I once had my 292 crank in the machine shop for polishing, and standing beside some V8 cranks, it sure made them look small.
What a great soundtrack!!! Who are these guys?!
Something must be wrong with you because literally everyone else totally hates it.
My father has a 69 that had a 6 Cylinder but blew it up in less than a week and then put in a 400 big block
Samuel Smythkowski I think that's what pretty much everyone did.... another reason the 6's are so rare/uncommon.
Same with my friend. He has one sitting in his backyard forever. had the 6 then a 455 then nothing :)
No such thing as a Pontiac "big block"
Had a 250 Sprint with a 4 barrel carburetor ( stock) when I was in high school . 1968 tempest , this car alone started a life long love for GM products . How about this ? A 1951 chevy thriftmaster truck with a ohc pontiac 6 hooked to a 5 speed trans . I have the truck already , looking for the engine .
To bad the music is over powering the sound of the motor
Shame it's not stock original, would be worth more....
The back ground music is so annoying.
I'm going to have a 68 some day I have $5000 and have been to Iowa, kansas and Arkansas to just come back to Missouri empty handed I'll take another $2000 out of my taxes this year I really hope ill find one for $7 k this year that's not a piece of shit no clones wandering I dint find a 68 soon I might get a Ann edition ta
Super Daddy head out to Virginia, we got plenty!
Seatbelts? We don't need no stinken seatbelts.

How are we supposed to hear the damn thing with all the annoying music?? Sad.
