    Enjoying your vlogs throughout Ireland 🇮🇪 I have the same camper van but in the states outfitted by a company called #reconcampers I just completed a trip Olympic, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Great Basin, Zion National Parks. Washington State, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, California, Nevada, and Utah. It’s a strong little van, it got me through some rough dirt roads, up mountains, vast stretches of desert. Great little van NV200. 🍻

    That was quick!
    As I suspected a very sensible tried and tested attitude to clothing and quite similar to our own. Two pairs of trousers is almost always enough especially as walking trousers are quick to wash and dry if needed. Also go down the layering approach using only a thin waterproof as an outer layer and windproofer, we then like long sleeve base layers followed usually by a down jacket for warmth.

    There's an age-old saying in Norway "No such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing".
    I think you have clothing under control but I will do my part for sheep farmers and suggest that you invest in wool.
    Layers of wool in summer or winter are anti-microbial and will keep you more cosy and comfortable.
    It's amazing how thin and comfy wool garments can be these days. Just don't buy Chinese.

    Hello Ken and Carol, thanks for this information. After many delays we are a couple of weeks away from collecting our converted NV200 so your video was very timely and helpful. We have yet to explore our available storage space but recommendations from your experience of a similar van are incredibly valuable. Who’d have thought that packing clothes could be so useful, lols! Would be interested to know where you store your bedding after a nights’ sleep, and additionally, is it possible to use the space under the pop-top/bed boards as temporary storage?

    • @LifeistooshortCK
      @LifeistooshortCK  3 года назад +1

      Our bedding is compressed into a couple of dry sacks and kept on the rear bench seat. Things can fall out when you open the doors so even if they fell in a muddy puddle the bedding would be ok. When the roof is up there is plenty of room over the cab to get stuff out of the way and a smaller amount at the rear. With roof boards then its a huge area for stuff. We dont take our roof boards though. With the roof down there is no storage space up there at all.

    Hi Ken and Carol. I’m looking to start preparing packing clothing for the new van and like the osprey packing cubes you have shown for your clothes in this video . It looks from the video that you have different sized cubes and I have been researching the osprey options. Did you by any chance get the osprey ultralight packing cube set as I figured I could use the smaller ones for socks and pants, the middle one for t shirts, the larger one for shorts and/or trousers. All rolled up in the cubes would take minimal space and on Amazon is around 26 quid so just wanted to know if that’s the set you bought ? many thanks, Gary

      Yes they are very efficient. We have the largest towels and they easily dry you off after a swim or shower. We use the small hand towels as facecloths when we wash. What I tend to do is not take seperate nightwear. I take dark coloured cotton jersey trousers & I take deep coloured cotton t shirts. Both these items can be worn day or night. If I am only going somewhere for the weekend I do not need to take a third pair of trousers. I have one set of day clothes & a slightly thinner set of night clothes & the night trousers are adequate to use instead of the day trousers should they get wet or dirty. So if I get soaked with rain, or someone pours soup over me, I have a change of clothes, without having to take another set of clothing.
    This is quite important as sometimes when I am going somewhere I am going on an Ki Aikido course which means I also have to carry my Aikido kit. I do also carry an extra top & extra underwear & if I can fit them in I include a pair of shorts, 'just in case'. I include two long sleeved tops of some type & wear a fleece gilet with zipped pockets, in which I usually carry my phone & cash. I use jackets rather than jumpers as they can be zipped & unzipped according to temperature.

      @@LifeistooshortCK Everything does take longer. I do not have a camper-van, or even a car. So my limit is just what I can carry. Which is a lot less than it used to be.
