- After a peaceful night at Ayre National Nature Reserve we indulge in some Manx sausages for breakfast.
We add up the expenses for our first week on the Isle of Man before heading south down the west coast towards Peel.
En route we stop off at St John’s to see the Ballaharra Stones and Tynwald Hill and reap the consequences of ignoring the fairies and talking at Devil’s Elbow!
The rain clears for our walk around Peel harbour and we cheer ourselves up with a lovely meal out and enjoy the sunset.

I’m a silent viewer but just want to say how much I enjoy watching your wonderful vloggs .. Thank you both ❤❤❤ A real pleasure to watch x
You are not silent anymore 😁👍
Carol is a trooper! Aside from her resilience against adversity, we always comment on her strength, patience and adventurous spirit.
Another fabulous video from Team Carol & Ken. Thank you 🙌
Thank you so much Janine and Liam for your lovely comment. The delicious meal we had was a great consolation 😁
So glad Carol is fine, lovely video as always. I wanted to email you both with a private message but you wouldn’t want to be inundated with messages from subscribers so guess there’s no way to do that. I just wanted to express heart-felt thanks to you both, I’ve loved watching all your videos (and will continue to do so!), I am retired and live alone and with arthritis threatening my future plans to campervan around the UK myself! (that and Covid)., Carol and Ken, you’ve got me through lockdown and cheered me up no end. Thank you xx
Hi Sheila, thank you so much for your lovely comment, it is much appreciated. Sorry to hear you are not able to get out in your campervan. Sending you all our best wishes and thanks for watching ❤️
I agree Sheila, this channel is an absolute tonic 😎 Sorry to hear of you’re arthritis, don’t give up on you’re dream, hope the drs can help xx
Thank you Em 😊
Some people find Acupuncture really helps with arthritis. Acupuncture can be expensive but if you have a community acupuncture project near you, they can be substantially less costly.
Absolutely gutted to see Carol hurt, there was something heartwarming to see her enjoy a chip with Diane sauce! Something quite emotional about the video tonight, think the music added to it and the serene walk back, very nearly brought a tear….certainly a lump in the throat. The world needs more Ken and Carols. X
Amy Paul & Ted 🐾
Awww thank you so much Amy, Paul and Ted, glad you enjoyed it 😍
Carol, you have my deepest sympathy! Had a day like this a few weeks ago. In the morning wrapped my toes on the footboard of the bed. Just after lunch. Fell up the steps. Smacked my kneecap. Finishing up the dishes after dinner. Closed the dishwasher on my finger. Saved the nail. Broke the finger. My husband said. I don't like where this is going. At bedtime it will be your neck. My reply. Way ahead of you. I'm going to bed now! My husband tucked me into bed with a nice hot toddy and a book. He has my vote for husband of the year! Thank you for showing this trip. I am adding the Isle of Man to our list. Feel better and be safe.
I feel for you. Some days things just don’t go well! Your husband is a treasure and glad he took good care of you. Hope you are well on the road to full recovery. Take care, Carol x❤️
So great to hear that you are doing well. Take it easy. Enjoy your day.
Love the names u call Carol, bunny , Charlie brown , love watching your videos , and so glad Carol is fine now
@@joannenash1247 thank you 🙂
Poor chutney really felt for her and was glad to see her speedy recovery. We love your videos, they are relaxing and informative. We have a camper van and love our trips in it. We aren’t brave enough to wild camp yet but your videos give us encouragement to try one day. Gareth
Give wild camping a go for a night Gareth as it opens up huge possibilities. 😁👍
The motto of the manx is Traa dy liooar "time enough"
I am really enjoying my vicarious travels with you to all these amazing destinations!

Beautiful crescent moon

Lovely photography and music. Heal well Carol. x
Poor Carol! 😮 I was worried she was going to have a third mishap, when you were both walking in the rain and on stone steps. Glad you had a lovely meal. Nice trip. 😊
Thank you Jacqueline, I am being extra careful in the wet from now on 😀👍
Your dinner looked so delicious.
Carol seems like such a nice person, sorry for her mishaps, hope she is on the mend. Really hope her injuries weren’t serious. Beautiful drone footage. Thank you for another lovely video
Thank you Marie, Carol is fully recovered now thank goodness 😀
Fun fact again! Tynwald Day is 5th July. It's a national holiday.
Thanks for the info Shelly 🙂
Ah, poor Carol, so pleased she recovered well from her two mishaps. Your videos never disappoint always a delight to watch full of info and beautiful scenery. Take care and safe travels.👍
Thank you so much Karen. Take care 😀
1) I exhort all folk to undertake an annual Advanced First Aid course with St John's Ambulance.
2) I recommend everyone should carry a first aid kit however it should be a container of your choice and filled with the things you want and need. Retail first aid kits are stuffed with profit makers and not stuff you need.
3) Peel castle eh ? Built by Sir Robert no doubt....
4) Scrumptious meals. 10 points. :-)
I always say when arriving back on IoM that it's a different time zone known as "Manx Time" where the pace of life slows down.
Very true. Wonderful to experience that.
So sorry you hurt yourself Carol, I hope you're ok now. Nasty falling over but at least there were no onlookers! Peel looks so peaceful and the sunset was beautiful. I've so enjoyed your trip to IOM it's been lovely watching every single episode, thank you 😊
So glad there was no one around to see me fall! Thanks for watching, there will be more of Peel in the next episode 🙂
Wow poor Carol in the war’s, I’m so glad she’s ok. Sometimes it’s the price you pay for being an explorer. Keep safe both of you. 👍🏼
Thank you Mark. Carol the explorer 😁
Poor Carol, its a good job she is a tough nut 💪
Carol you have Ken spoilt, a bit like what my mum and dad were like. Oh dear Carol not a great start to your day bless you. I burnt my finger earlier, on the oven. I love visiting churches and castles. Awh i remember visiting that school with my mum. Poor carol you've been in the war's today. Hope tomorrow is a better day xxx ❤️💙🌹

Arrr your.poor Mrs look after her she,s a tough cookie x
Sorry to see your mishaps Carol. Take care. Hope you are feeling better. Good to see Ken looking after you.
Sad to see you hurt Carol, wood can be slippy in wet weather. Isle of Man looks so peaceful, Im adding this to my places to visit. Shame the ferry cost is so high. Looking forward to next vlog.
Hi Michelle. You could probably get a much cheaper ferry if you book in advance and book a return ticket, around £290.
Please be careful enjoying your little trips, best way, in the van.
I’m glad Carol is OK, you’ve got a great bloke looking after you!
Thanks again for these great videos and allowing us to travel with you.
Thank you....this was beautiful.
Thank you Simone 🙂
Bless you, Carol. Hope you feel better soon. Loved the old Tynwald: there's something very special about that place.
Thanks Andy, fully recovered now. It was a great privilege to walk up the steps at Tynwald Hill.
Glad all is well Carol. Peel is such a lovely place. Seeing your videos is bringing it all back to us from when we lived there last year. Such a beautiful Island. Looking forward to your next video 👍👍
Thanks Chris. We really enjoyed visiting Peel, there will be some more from there in the next episode 🙂
Lovely photography. Makes me want to leave Seattle and come over and rent a camper.
I'm on prog 9 of Isle of Man. All your food has made me raid our fridge! Peter

Hello from America I love watching you love the adventure thank you so much for taking us along ps I'm so glad Carol is ok hugs and prayers can't wait for the next adventure
Hello. We love America. I have a load of video from route 66 waiting to be edited. 👍
In the words of Neil Sadarka.. "Oh Carol". You poor wee soul. Felt your pain with the trapped finger and pleased to hear you are OK. Made of tough stuff and by the way, chips always taste better when they're stolen!
Chuffed Carol is OK take care guy's we don't want any more accidents
Thanks Darren 😀
Very happy to see that Carol was not badly injured.
What a colourful little place with all the painted houses. Poor Carol, twice in one episode.
Thanks Mike and Trish. That’ll teach us for talking when driving round Devil’s Elbow 😱
A little bottle of essential oil of Lavander, such as is available from H & B & other healthfood shops, is a great thing to have with you. It is antiseptic & analgesic, anti-inflammatory & anti-viral & good to drip on burns. Sniffing it can help with headaches & will also be calming & help with any nausea.
I didn’t know Lavender oil helped like that. Thanks for the tip ❤️
Carol I can’t believe you injured yourself twice in one day. Glad to hear that you are ok now. Park ups looked great and the meals looked amazing. Take care Gill
Thanks Gill, I couldn’t believe it either! That meal certainly helped cheer up the day 😀
When Carol was explaining how she hurt her finger 5:40, Ken was very helpful, "I'll tell you what you shouldn't do that". 😄
Ken you were great at being so attentive to Carol😊💖.
I love this video and the photography too. I've just subscribed. Look forward to seeing more and looking back to your older videos.😊💖
Thank you so much Tilly. Ken says by cracking jokes it takes your mind off the pain 😁
Enjoying this adventure! Thank you!
Poor Carol hope she's ok , loving these videos so calming to watch and very informative .
Thanks Mick, fully recovered now 👍🙂
So glad to hear carol is ok
Glad Carol is fine. Love your channel.
Thanks for sharing Ken and carol glad you are ok carol take care and be safe 👍
Glad to hear Carol is OK and I hope there is no lasting damage. Lovely seeing you enjoying a meal in Filbys, it really is a fantastic place. Judging by the timeline of the Vlogs, it appears you were in Peel around the same time as me. I am awaiting the next instalment with great anticipation. Looking forward to which part of this fantastic Island you are going to visit next. By the way, those Peel sunsets are some of the best in the world.
Loved our meal at Filbey’s, especially after the day we had had! The sunset was magical ❤️
That last overnight stop was looking good.
When you mentioned Fenella and I saw Peveril it reminded me of some Manx history. Fenella and Peveril have been popular names of ships in the IOM Steam Packet Company going back to the late 1880s.
So glad to hear Carol is fine….👍🇮🇲
Poor Carol!
Sudocream is the absolute best for all cuts bruises & sunburn though. Hope she,s all healed 🙏
Fully recovered now thanks 🙏 🙂
I spent 7 years over there. Working and living in my motorhome. Lovely place and great wildlife.

Poor Carol, can fully empathise,I did a similar thing a few weeks ago, I was shaken for the rest of the day. I'm pleased you had a lovely meal later. Wonderful video as always thankyou xx
One of those Carol to hide in the van …. Glad it wasn’t more serious …scars of Vanlife video in a few years ….the island definitely has a laid back feel which for me is great. Peel castle looks interesting . Superb drone shots - colours are so good

I’m so glad to hear Carol is fine, that looked like a nasty fall but Carol just brushed it off! I think your budget took a hit at that restaurant but you are on holiday and it looked delicious. Thanks as always for sharing your adventure.

Thank you Gerry, you’re welcome ☺️
No parking charges that’s wonderful I will be visiting Isle of Man in the next year or so maybe .When they have the new Manxman ferry running .out of season . You both seem to have enjoyed your visit. Thanks for the informative videos . Those foot paths can be dangerous. Grad carol is ok .
Inspirational and beautiful as always. Do hope you didn’t feel too rough after your fall Carol and well done for carrying on. X
Thanks Louise. All fully recovered now 🙂👍
Despite Carol's mishap , you produced another lovely travelogue of Peel but no, "the"is not required before Tynwald, Ken ( it is just Tynwald) and yes, that school that you pointed out is very much a going concern . It is Bunscoill Ghaelgagh, the only primary school that teaches all lessons in the Manx language, so quite important to the Island's culture, indeed. Manx was almost extinct but there is a concerted effort to keep it alive which is in evidence all over the Island,
So pleased Carol is ok after a day of mishaps.
Another lovely vlog, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it Shelley 🙂
So glad Carol is okay…really thought she might need a stitch or 2……wonderful videos as always! We are currently in Ireland on vacation and after watching your videos we were noticing the places where campers were setting up for the night. We saw one, a little larger than yours, all set up at a Friary that was kind of out of the way. Ideal place……..
Get well soon Carol. We are currently staying in a cottage near Newcastle, County Down and can see the Isle of Man on the horizon, so waving to you from the "Emerald Isle"
Thanks Ted, fully recovered now. 👋👋
☘️ Glad your ok bless you be safe Friends

We do not bounce so well as we get older, I fell on the wet drive tonight then saw your video with Carol's mishap so know how she felt 😬
Peel looks a fantastic place to visit, this is certainly somewhere we could spend a few days.
So many lovely places on the Isle of Man 🙂
