You guys really convey the essence of big boat ownership, I will never own a vessel like yours but watching your vids gives a real feel like being there without the realities, grats nice work people
Nice boat. After spending the last year+ looking we’ve pretty much concluded that we like the older boats much better. We’ve looked as high as 1.25M and the best boat we’ve seen is a 1970’s Hatteras, similar to yours. Thanks for the tour.
I am in total lust of your boat. I tried for over a year to find a similar one. Congratulations you have a true piece of art. Love your channel. Thanks for inviting into your lives.
With this boat, I would never return to land! Very beautiful! We live in Japan, and this boat is larger than our house. It's a million dollar yacht that you got for a song...
I was in Westville NJ, across the river from you, in the summer of 2023. I would never dream of traveling as far as you do in my Maxum 2300 SCR but Chesapeake City and Cape May are within my range and in the future maybe further down the Chesapeake. I love your videos. When I retire I’m definitely going bigger and more comfortable. You and your Pretty One are inspiring.
Wow that was Dr. Nick Douvas’s boat. He was a genius ophthalmologist in the 1970s. He saved countless people’s eye sight with his invention of the roto extractor. He was based out of port Huron Mi.
Sorry I missed this post earlier. I wish I knew more about the history of the boat and Dr. Douvas. I have left his plaque on the wall and the markings on entry doors. I would hang his picture if I had one.
Sure was Amos's boat, he kept it down on the Potomac River near the Chesapeake bay. He was the inventor of the roto extractor and patients used to come in from all over the world to have his procedure at his facility.
Very nice boat at a very attractive price. I can see why you want to spend time on it. Best to you and your lovely and gracious wife. Thanks for the videos. Well done
Good morning I really enjoy your RUclips channel and I love boats I was in the military for 12 years Army and worked on tug boats and army landing craft and iv had the opportunity to sail the whole east coast from new york to panama its great to watch your channel it kind of takes me back to the east coast thank you
A beautiful classic big cruising boat, despite the size it has a lived in comfy ambiance. I hope you have many happy years of cruising. We are nowhere near your pay grade, so do things on a smaller scale. We live 1 hour inland from our marina in La Rochelle, France. Waterfront properties are way too much for us, so we have a 28' motor cruiser that we make use of as often as we can (we are semi retired) either out at sea or just living the marina life.
Thank you very much for sharing this. So glad that you showed the mechanical side, so many do not. Only thing better would have been hearing the engines running.
Wow that's an awesome boat! Thanks for the video. As a patrol boat skipper I would suggest you take your lines to the dock cleats, feed through the center and then fasten back to the boat. This way you don't have to leave the boat to untie. cheers.
I "just" found your posting and have viewed only a few. Will start watching them in order from the beginning. We own a 1985 65' Hatteras LRC. Hatteras only made 13 of these custom yachts, we have hull #11. We purchased our Hatteras in Seattle on Lake Union, we flew from San Francisco to Seattle several times to view the yacht to make sure this is the one we wanted as we do live aboard. Just prior to your purchase we were living on our 1969 50' Hatteras FDMY and were looking for more space. We did look a few at 58' Hatteras yachts fish but opted for the 65' LRC as it gave us more living space. I look forward to viewing all of your videos. Happy yachting!
Your 65 LRC is a fantastic boat! Out of my budget unless I ditch my land house. Maybe some day. I did not like the 58 Yacht Fishs either. Since we do not really fish, too much living space is lost for that cockpit. Thanks for watching!
Just my second video I have watched of yours. Only 8 minutes in and now commenting. I think you said you paid 180k. Dude you scored. That boat is awesome, the condition pristine. Kudos to you.
The little old lady was younger than me and I met ran into her captain a year later and he said she was thrilled when we bought the boat. The expenses were draining her.
The two happiest days of a boat owners life; buying it and selling it. What’s the other one...only thing better than having a nice boat is a friend with a nice boat? I’m guessing you have friends.
Hi guys again well ive just watched all the videos and ive enjoyed them so much planning to watch them all again but the tour of the yacht is my favorite thanks again .Tony
It goes to show, you can squeeze a lot in to a 58ft boat, if you have the right design. There is so many yachts nowadays that are tiny in the interior compared to this, because they are going for style and looks rather that usability. I love this one.
I grew up in Florida and our family had a pretty big boat. Next besides our boat in the West Palm Beach marina, there used to be three Hatteras same size and I loved looking at the Hatteras design . Always loved the Hatteras design
thanks for sharing a piece of HEAVEN !!! Gives me plenty to dream about :), and when I grow up ( I'm 62 ), maybe I can figure a way to see you in HEAVEN :). Great Vid !
Beautiful boat. I've wanted since one I first saw one in Marathon when I was 8 years old. I'm now 35 and own a Carver 440 Aft and a sea ray 400 express and do bare boat day runs. My next and hopefully last step is a 58my.
Just watched your video. In the past year I have serviced and repowered several long range cruisers. Give me the boat for 4 months, and you'll be happy !!!
1971 Hatteras 58 ft. You guys have a nice one too! Rebuilt parts of the Detroits and maintained the mechanical portion for about 50k including a new Kohler genset. She runs great now at 14 knots. Hopefully done for now. See you on the water mates!!
Wow..great video...Have had many RV"s from gas to diesel but never a boat or yacht...Thank you for showing in such great detail the inner workings...I don't see how one person can handle all that such as worrying about piloting the vessel as well as monitoring the engines...oh, hello from Tampa,FL btw!!

Yes, the removal of the side walkway adds about two feet to the salon width. I never noticed the difference in the windshields before. I'll have to keep an eye out for that.

Back deck is open. Very similar layout and comfortable boat. Never a lack of work to maintain.
They really don’t make boats like that anymore, it’s absolutely gorgeous. We are currently shopping, in fact will be touring one tomorrow in Myrtle Beach. My favorite boats are the Sea Ray 480, Jefferson 60 with an Aft galley (very rare) and the Carver 530. Thank you for sharing, Enjoy the Ride

Wonderful boat and well bought. You have shown everyone that it pays big dividends to have patience and take the time (and effort) to look for the right investment. Many wishes of happy sailing and new adventures to you and your bride.
Thanks! The surveyors estimated that a new boat of this size and quality would cost 2.9 Million - way out of my league. New 60 foot Hatteras sell for 3 million.
beautiful ship and so recognizable with our ship we have a bertram 55 of the same age we sail with the holidays through the Netherlands and we are still in love with the boat after 10 years Gr hans and hewig
Just started watching you guys, awesome yacht you both have there Captain! Don't pay any attention to the negative comments keep it real! Mrs.Captain is awesome!
Thanks! We try to ignore the trolls. Fortunately, out of over 125,000 views, we have only had about a dozen negative comments. Viewers like you keep us posting!😁
I can see why you fell in love with this boat. For a 1979, the exterior looks Bristol. I am not sure about that stern with the hard enclosure. I can see the good and the odd either way. That low rumble and whine while in the lower quarters would drive me nuts while on shore power. I had to give that life up 20 years ago and I miss it everyday. You seam to enjoy the boating world just as I did and it is so nice to travel to new locations and meet new people. I don't know why but marina boaters are a different and friendly type of people that only happens on the water. LOL
We have mixed feelings about the enclosure. We would prefer it to be more open, but we are happy in the winter. We also have a big flybridge, which gives us an open space as well. Our biggest complaints is that the windows do not open. We agree - marina people are some of the most friendly.
I enjoyed watching your videos very much. I've seen a lot of boats for sale that are really nice. Even if you get a good deal on the boat. The long term maintenance and operating costs are a big problem and one should not get a boat of your caliber unless they have got the financial means to take care of it. Not only that, but one must have the know how to take care of a boat. You have to know how a boat works you have to know it's mechanical systems. You have to know the fundamentals. In your videos, you basically show people the reality of owning a yacht. I like the ending on this video it made me laugh 🤣
USS Olympia in the back round . At least you have cool neighbors ! The BB 63 should be across the way . Beautiful boat , great location . Some just have all the luck !
I have always loved Hatteras Yachts but they are so claustrophobic down below decks. They always seemed so large in their day but by today's standards they are on the small end. But its great that they so affordable compared to a similar new boat their size.
To build a yacht of the same size, and quality, today would be upwards of 5 million. The water heater alone is an upgrade in today's build. This is a real quality yacht🎡🎡🎡
This was a very nice boat, that looks like it was meant to accommodate at least two couples as guests or co-travelers. Me , a mechanical engineer, I could not stand having to keep four bathrooms operational, with cold water and hot water, high enough water pressure, no leaks or clogs, and separate air conditioning for each cabin, two engines, and a generator. Even though it was in good condition, it was from 1978, it would take all my time just to keep things working.
Yes the proper name for that tip is the Robertson drive , I believe he was a Canadian looking to improve the slotted screw head if I remember correctly but as a boater I will always call it the Hatteras screws lol
I have a suggestion on your counter. Consider leaving the current counter and finding a matching counter that would be like a fold up "leaf" When down the leaf acts a trim, but when up, it acts like counter. To raise and then lower, just softly lift. To lower just raise slightly and it lowers. The leaf can be a matching material or can be contrasting / complimenting material depending on taste. The bracket can be made of brass or some tasteful material. Provide a couple of neat looking brass clips to batten the leaf in the down position. Should be easy to fabricate.
That's an amazing use of space to have 4 cabins all with their own head on that size boat! Well designed and well kept! She's a beauty.
We agree!

Nice boat, Thanks for sharing! All those spiral corded phones takes me back a few years.

You are welcome. We are glad you found the video helpful.

Nice trip from down south..... love your Hatteras 1975 to 1980. very classic. Too big for me but your doing quite well with it. Thanks for sharing.

unreal, Look at that engine room, WOW! I work on boats a little, winterizing my friends 35 Carver. i love the space you have in there, so cool.
Just watched your video. In the past year I have serviced and repowered several long range cruisers. Give me the boat for 4 months, and you'll be happy !!!
We wish our boat had better range. The 8v92s are overkill for how we use the boat.
1971 Hatteras 58 ft. You guys have a nice one too! Rebuilt parts of the Detroits and maintained the mechanical portion for about 50k including a new Kohler genset. She runs great now at 14 knots. Hopefully done for now. See you on the water mates!!
Our Detroits are running fine - so far. She will do 14 knots but we rarely go over 10 knots. We're too cheap to pay for the fuel!
Really beautiful boat, quality finishing.. Bargain is an understatement.

Beautiful boat. I def miss living in the Philly area.
Thanks. We love Philly as well.
It does take a lot of up-keep. Especially the heads.
Man that is one sweet rig . just saw your other boat for sale thats sweet too. great vids looks like fun . peace and be safe out there.
Thanks! We were fortunate that both boats turned out to be great purchases.
Incredible looking ship.
Thanks!
That ending was hilarious!🤣
Nice, love the Whaler tender. Very nice 58 Hatteras, The wife and I have a 34 Hatteras.
Thanks!
I had a 58' Yachtfish - one of my favorites.
That sounds like a good idea, however, we already made changes to our counter. We will be posting a video of it soon.
Thank you for the tour!
You're welcome!
