    love it! Having a lift will change your life. Even doing simple things like brakes it makes a huge difference being able to work on them at a comfortable height. I struggled with the decision between a 2 and 4 post unit. Ultimately I went with the 2 post asymmetrical but I will say that if my shop was big enough I would probably end up with one of each. Each one has many pluses and minuses. My next project is a 55 chevy pick up so I am following your build religiously. Thank you for your efforts in sharing it with us.

    Nice purchase! You're going to love having a lift. I purchased the long and tall 4-post to sit next to my 2-post. The 4-post is mostly for storage but sometimes comes in handy for maintenance now that my 17-year-old son is into hot rods and wants to work on his own car.

    • @intheshoptv
      @intheshoptv  9 месяцев назад

      Thats awesome that your son wants to work on his own car! I was into cars and working on them for as long as I can remember. My parents never really nurtured it though. Im glad that you are! Yeah, the main reason I went with the 4 post was the portability in a small shop. Huge factor for me! Thanks for watching!

    Great video, thanks! I installed the same lift (purchased at Lowe's) in my garage and I'm pretty happy with it. I already had a pair of QuickJacks and they are a great complement to the lift, when you need to work on tires and brakes. I just place the QJ's on the lift.

      I know the feeling! In my last house I used to work in a cramped 2 car garage that had a cracked and heaved slab from when Hurricane Sandy parked 4’ of ocean in it. On my way home from Rikers Island everyday, Id pass the neighbors house around the corner who always had the garage door open with not one - but TWO lifts with gorgeous cars on them. Twas’ a little envious, I’ll admit!

    • @intheshoptv
      @intheshoptv  28 дней назад

      The lock ladders were installed in the uprights. You lay it all down on the floor, get the crossbar in place and then stand the whole assembly upright! Hope that makes sense

    Great video Bro. So how did you figure out how to adjust the lock plates and cables correctly?

    • @intheshoptv
      @intheshoptv  6 месяцев назад +1

      With the ladder locks, Id run the lift roughly 1/2 way up and get the crossbars close to one of the rectangle lock holes. Then I’d take a measurement from the bottom of one of the holes to the crossbar and adjust each ladder lock to the same exact distance/measurement. The cables are less exact because they have a little stretch to them… you basically adjust them to level the crossbars and runways as close as possible. Then, lower the lift so that its resting on any of the four ladder locks, and keep pushing the release handle (you’ll see some of the cables go slack). I’d tighten those cables until it took up most of the slack to the eye but was still moveable if you grab one. Then you’re all set. Also… when using the lift, do that same thing after you set the lift in a locked position… take some pressure off the cables by holding that release lever a few seconds after the lift is locked and stopped. This will take long term pressure off your cables and make your cables last a lot longer. After the first week, you may have to repeat this process again as new cables will stretch and settle into their final length. Hope this all makes sense and helps. Thanks for watching. I have a few more vids with mods to this lift.

    ? getting ready to install mine. the hardware that holds the white slides on the crossbars fell out. should bolts be reinstalled with locktite? & does it matter how far the bolts stick out on the inside, some of my bolts have 2 washers some have 3 but all the bolts run through about 1/8 to 1/4".
    thanks

    • @intheshoptv
      @intheshoptv  6 месяцев назад +1

      I didn’t have that issue so I couldn’t say. And unfortunately with the lift assembled, I cant see to confirm, since they are tucked into the c-channel uprights. Not what you asked but I will tell you this since you mentioned loctite- you WILL need to loctite the crap out of the linkage rods for the locks or you’ll pull your hair out. Good luck!

    How tall is the base of the lift that you drive on ? 4.8” I think the manual said ? I’m working with 10’6” ceilings and a 58” car and a 60” car I need to stack. If I only have to add 5” for the lift it’s sitting on and 2” of space between the roofs of the cars it should be just enough

    • @intheshoptv
      @intheshoptv  8 месяцев назад

      Yep- the runways are just about 5” total height from the floor. If you’re interested, I have a couple more videos showing upgrades I made to it. My most recent video has a really cool lift lighting upgrade and there is another video where we run power to the lift
