The longer the series went on they massively reeled in her 'nasty bitter old lady' personality imo. By the end of her stint she is indeed a very very good character. She's still not quite there for me yet.
It was just painted green with the wrong type of paint lol. I think it was later that the avocado green appliances came out and those gold ones too. Maybe it was the 70's I really don't know. Oh how about those dark brown ones omg! My 1st fridge was white, still is.
Once again Erica jumped the gun in making a decision without getting her facts straight first. Automatically blaming Bea the way she did without a shred of evidence is so unprofessional. I'm beginning to wonder if she should have come back at all, but having said that, Jim was even more hopeless and Vera would be an absolute nightmare in charge. So I think Erica has to be the best of a bad bunch unfortunately.
Jack Spratt I believe that Meg would make a very good governor if given the opportunity. She is intelligent, compassionate, caring and would do her utmost to see that each of the individual women's needs are met. But above all, unlike Erica, she has been an officer and is fully aware of what goes on during a typical day in the prison. As far as I know, Erica's only involvement within the prison service has been as a governor, in which case she lacks the full awareness on what its like for the officers out there on duty on a day to day basis.
8ballpoolking1 Every employee at Wentworth is completely incompetent....including Meg. Every episode they turn a blind eye to something going on right in front of their face. None of them should have a job!
@Heather Elliott What? Anne's a right bore. From her boring annoying family to her bore of a sex life with Wally and Dan to constantly giving Joan chance after chance but then whines about how she wants her out of her prison.
tara f I have come to love Vera over the past 35+ year of watching Prisoner. And it's always good for a laugh to see Vera getting knocked down a peg or two, especially by a little kid!
Yeah I'll give you that. She's the best actress. Not my overall favourite character. But maybe scrapes into my top 10 even by the end of the whole 692 episodes.
-- Well if you know what it is, perhaps you'll grow up with enough sense to stay out of a place like this. -- Then why are you here, then? A kid leaves Vera speechless - priceless!
The kid, speaking to Vera" why are you here then "speaks volumes .as you go along you realize that the screws are just as much prisoners as the prisoners are.
hahhaa at 41:10 its so funny where the kids are slapping each other i bet fiona spence (vera bennett ) was trying not to laugh but she had to play her character laughing my head i swear i saw a slight smile from her i wish they had behined scene videos and all!!!!!!!
@ 43:43 - Little Andrew O'Connell sure puts Vera in her place! That's why she stops Pat's visit. But it was worth it to see Vera getting kicked in the rubber parts!
4:52: Chrissie is drinking from what looks like a glass glass in the bathroom. Surely they wouldn't have a glass glass, nor a communal one, for all the prisoners to use.
43:41 when vera pushes the little girls hand away from her tugging her jacket hahaha just imagine her having kids and they are probably laughing there heads behined scenes with the kids and vera
I wish they had explored Angela Jeffries character more. She is very interesting. Franky Could was kind of an offensive gay stereotype tbh: predatory, aggressive. Angela is more realistic.
😊where do these ladies go to the loo at night there doesn't seem to be any facilities in the cells ???? all there seems to be is communal toilet and showers ?????
No. Her last appearance is somewhere midway into the run of the show (about 1983 or 1984 I think). Curiously, the actress to play her is still alive to my knowledge but in her 90s.
biapiaxyzia I thought Bob tried to be a good governor. But I think Anne was the best governor, especially because the department was always knocking her back & tying her hands at every turn.
With the exception of Mr. Fletcher, all the men who ran the prison did a better job than both Anne and Davo, which I found a little sexist but it wouldn't be much of a show if the women ran the prison smoothly. Remember the officer who the Freak set up for rape did a pretty good job as governor too. Both Ann and Davo are my favorites and I couldn't possibly choose between them. Love them both!
Almost like clockwork, they mention a character and then lo and behold the next scene is with that category. This time Pat talking about her solicitor and the next scene is with the said solicitor. I have noticed it happening a lot, just a weird observation, sorry!
I used to have red rain boots like the girl wears in the garden. I totally forgot. Also, my family used to have the same brightly-colored plastic cups that have been used in recent episodes. I was probably drinking out of them when watching the series debut (in the U.S.).
I don't know about that. As far as I'm concerned she was far too indulgent with her husband and oldest son (who were both old enough to know better) at the expense of her younger children and her mother.
Davo is annoying in this episode. Jumping to conclusions; trumped to the right conclusion by Lizzie and talking about a replacement for Dr Miller after pestering him to return!
Pat's mum DID NOT play Agnes/Ettie or any other elderly lady that I can remember. Talk about looking right through people and thinking every elderly person looks alike.
Clueless Davidson in action once again.. Not to mention that one moment there is no need for proof at all,and in the next there must be absolute proof.
I am proud to state that even when I saw this episode and it's stolen emetic storyline for the first time, I had a handle on what was happening. I'm no Columbo, but there was plenty of foreshadowing of the plot about to unfold imo.
True, and she was jumping the gun a lot in these episodes. Poor Bea seemed to be her constant target. Wonder she didn't actually do more things wrong if she was going to get the blame for everything anyway.
what gets me about the rules is when prisoners are released on parole the conditions are they cant associate with known criminals , but theyre allowed to stay in a halfway house bloody full of them ,lol
I think Lizzie has to be the most loved character in the series, I've not seen one hate comment about her the entire time she's in the show.
The longer the series went on they massively reeled in her 'nasty bitter old lady' personality imo. By the end of her stint she is indeed a very very good character. She's still not quite there for me yet.
Gota love Lizzie
I cried when Lizzie left the show 😅
@@janeokeeffe5297
Yes me too.
For one she's one of the best.
I think she's a amazing character.
So funny
@@frankbrodie5168she was never nasty !
That halfway house kitchen looks very much like the one Monnie & Fred had.
And what about that green psychedelic fridge!
I want one.

That is the same kitchen, just different units im sure.
Yes it is they just changed the sink area a bit
What's up Doc? Only Lizzy, lol!!
Even when Erica is being sincere she sounds so shady and done with everyone's shit 😂
This comment made me LOL
@ 22:15 - If Fletcher knew Angela was a lesbian, his head might have exploded.

tsh85 That's true. You notice the ineptness more and more as time goes on.
@Heather Elliott What? Anne's a right bore. From her boring annoying family to her bore of a sex life with Wally and Dan to constantly giving Joan chance after chance but then whines about how she wants her out of her prison.
She’s trying to overcompensate for being too soft and it’s a disaster.
The way Vera bites at Bea and her winding her up is too funny 😂
Fiona Spence (Vera) is the best actress in this series
tara f
I have come to love Vera over the past 35+ year of watching Prisoner. And it's always good for a laugh to see Vera getting knocked down a peg or two, especially by a little kid!
SO TRUE
It's because she's English lol
Yeah I'll give you that. She's the best actress. Not my overall favourite character. But maybe scrapes into my top 10 even by the end of the whole 692 episodes.
That’s because she’s from England she was born not far from where I live she was born in Bromley
Good God I forgot I had that same Chrissy hair cut in 1980 thank goodness that phase has passed.
Drinking game guys, everytime Pat mentions her children you neck a beverage.
I can’t afford to play😢
I'd be dead in an hour
Or every time you harp on about it? I'd be twice as drunk.
I'd need a liver transplant tomorrow.
Miss Davidson always accuses people of doing stuff they haven't done on no evidence at all and they end up in solitary.
"She thinks you're a nurse.."
"Then why are you here? lmaooo

A kid leaves Vera speechless - priceless!
When they decided to bring Pat's mum into Prisoner they must have dusted off there box marked 'Granny Clothes'.
She looks like "Mrs Doubtfire".
She looks like the perfect granny she looks and reminds me a lot of my mums mum
Mrs. Brown
Ah the good old days when doctors locked medication behind a thin sheet of glass in open view of prisoners.Genius
So? It's not a hard drug? Um......someone has access to the drugs Erica, you drongo.
That halfway house and Greg millers surgery would be worth a fortune now!
It's the same building with the same doors lol
Chrissy looks like a cabbage patch doll😂
Poor bea is always getting sent to the pound for nothing
The kid, speaking to Vera" why are you here then "speaks volumes .as you go along you realize that the screws are just as much prisoners as the prisoners are.
i love the way lizzy says Viniger and look at that shes looking more pleased than Viniger
4th time around, still loving it,, loving wentworth aswell, roll on season2 xx
Wentworth series is dreadful
Theres a series on called CLINK thats really good but unfortunately series 1 ended and Im waiting for series 2.. its very good. X
That guy walking all over Karen's clean floor... what a jerk!!!!
i must be the only one who wishes erica had got a dose of beas medicine lol
Was Vera looking sympathetic to Pat's situation there or was I reading too much into it?
I thought the same!

Lol have just noticed that the actress that plays Angela is the mum in Muriels wedding. Only took me about 10 episodes or something...
Louisa Turner and god knows how many comments.....

Vinegar tits got put in her place from a child that’s funny
Dressing up characters like 1971 Coronation Street wasn't a good move 😅
4:52: Chrissie is drinking from what looks like a glass glass in the bathroom. Surely they wouldn't have a glass glass, nor a communal one, for all the prisoners to use.
I love Lizzie
That little boy is almost as tall as his Mum. And that black stuff on the wall of the halfway house looked like mold. Very dangerous for anyone.
What a rude policeman, just walking into the house without knocking. Typical.
She should have spilled her bucket on his shiny shoes?
And here's the beginning of Doreen's bullying and hiding behind Bea tactics.
Haha vera as a nurse .that made me chuckle
Pat O'Connell's mom also play the wacky replacement of Jean
Not her.
Not her was Paul Reid and Etty
@@cathrinehalfpenny3835 Ettie was a prisoner. It was Agnes Forster who was the batty social worker. Same actress though.
Chrissie's uniform is fitted like a glove and cut to mid thigh. Everyone else has a bit of a kneelength A line.
Chrissie alters her uniforms on the sewing machine in the laundry.
lol at the kids and Vera.
13:20 - Bea "Oh charming". Heh.
25'09" - a Form 4? Wasn't that what interstate footballers had to get through before they could play in the old VFL?

why don't they all just escape? the locks are obviously crap if someone can break into the surgery "and" the medicine cabinet.

*Franky Doyle
I bloody love Angela Jeffries, she's a wonderful character and I pretty great role model for getting shit done.
Shame she's a Minge Muncher! Haha :P
Chrissie's doing herself no favours by getting on Bea's bad side !
I knew it was her that broke into Dr Miller's office !!
how could you have missed her shoes ...😄
No shit!
Just tell me. How did pat go on holiday last year on that picture she had , if she's just been transferred from another prison.
😊where do these ladies go to the loo at night there doesn't seem to be any facilities in the cells ???? all there seems to be is communal toilet and showers ?????
They piss in each other's pockets.
They reckon the death penalty is "cruel and unusual punishment". Being unable to get to a bathroom all night would be right up there for me.
Wait until Auntie Joan gives her gloved body searches. But much, much later.
Angela was so good to karen even though she lets her have it. Lol
The background music is getting very atmospheric on this show. They must have hired someone new to do it
Wasn’t Latham pregnant which would explain the sickness thing
Love Chrissie Latham! "I haven't done nuffink to you..."
What kind of governor blames everybody eles for her mistakes
Yes Ros that is lagging but don't worry every prisoner lags when it suits them
Pat is too old to have a four year old
For a govener she she sure makes some poor judgments and has the cheek to say that megg is letting her personal feelings cloud her judgement
No. Her last appearance is somewhere midway into the run of the show (about 1983 or 1984 I think). Curiously, the actress to play her is still alive to my knowledge but in her 90s.
Lizzie.... Hypocritical oath ... Lol.. 😂😂
plus veras smilng !! at that kid before he tells her off hahah and iit wasnt a evil smile
Go Lizzie! Quite the detective :)
I thought they had the builders in that halfway house for three-weeks? What did they do? It looks derelict.
She's pregnant . Haha i KNEW IT !!
i always thought that it was hot in Australia, but people wear thick jumpers .
This is winter in Melbourne when it gets pretty cold. Other parts of Australia are warm all year round.
Not in Melbourne, except in summer.
they dont have glasses or plates metal knifes forks glass mirrors in prisons any more cos of the safety reasons
Interesting how someone of Lizzie's age can pick up a book and read small print .... must have amazing eyesight 🤔
Mrs Davidson is a bad governor, always jumps to conclusions. The best governor Wentworth has had in my opinion is Mr. Bob Moran in future episodes.
biapiaxyzia
I thought Bob tried to be a good governor. But I think Anne was the best governor, especially because the department was always knocking her back & tying her hands at every turn.
Mrs. Reynolds is my personal favourite governor, but Bob Moran is just a general all-around boss.
Mr. Moran was awesome!!
With the exception of Mr. Fletcher, all the men who ran the prison did a better job than both Anne and Davo, which I found a little sexist but it wouldn't be much of a show if the women ran the prison smoothly. The doctor is so dumb about the medicine. How many times is he going to let them steal it?
At least they are visible criminals, It's the one's that you are not aware of that you should be scared of!!
Pat O'Connell has a good head on her shoulders. The character anyway.
I don't know about that. As far as I'm concerned she was far too indulgent with her husband and oldest son (who were both old enough to know better) at the expense of her younger children and her mother.
Karen you got a point. She should of consider the younger kids.
Well, the other 2 are adults and committed a crime. The little kids are victims of their actions.
I cannot endure that Pat Christmas O’Connell.
Halfway house was monnys gaff aswell.. Second time around
Beas team of heavies consist of Lizzie, Doreen, Pat, Ros and Mouse how scary... Not.

Davo is annoying in this episode. Jumping to conclusions; trumped to the right conclusion by Lizzie and talking about a replacement for Dr Miller after pestering him to return!
thats the same set as Monica Ferguson's kitchen !!!
"Directed by Leigh Spence." I wonder if Leigh is related to Fiona.
Yes, he's her older brother. Her sister in law Kerry was a casting person for a while too.
Mouse seems more... grounded in this one.
Pat's mum DID NOT play Agnes/Ettie or any other elderly lady that I can remember. Talk about looking right through people and thinking every elderly person looks alike.

It's strange. Oconners husband is mentioned in the show so much he should be apart of it but he's never in it
Can someone give Erica a slap she never says sorry to the people she wrongly accuses
True, and she was jumping the gun a lot in these episodes. Poor Bea seemed to be her constant target. Wonder she didn't actually do more things wrong if she was going to get the blame for everything anyway.
