THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! I have been searching for a good tutorial on mold making for some time - and here you are! This is by far the best tutorial out there. Thanks again! ❤❤❤
Hurrah to your courage in covering this lesson. I’ve been searching for a couple year’s trying to find this, and spent a lot of wasted money. So thanks a million for this lesson. You’re awesome! ❤❤
Very informative video turned out great. I bake alot using the sping form pans a good tip turn the bottom with the texture holes down to avoid the textureon your mold & you could put some hot glue around the outside to stop the & it pulls right off
Thank you so much ☺️ I wasn’t sure how the hot glue would work with it, as I tried it once on a different material and it wouldn’t come off. I ended cutting the frame apart to get the mold out, lol. I appreciate the tip, thanks! ☺️
Wow! It's beautiful! I was super happy to see that you added to the silicone putty and it worked. That tells me if 3 minutes is too short you can add to it. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤
Thank you so much!! 🩵 Three minutes definitely isn’t a lot of time, but my friend Tammy has shared some pitty that has a longer work time so I will be ordering it and giving it a try as soon as I’m able to. ☺️
As I am rewatching this video, I'm making a mold. Fingers are crossed. I've said that for years I'm not using the Let's Resin puddy but hopefully it will look right I also found some of the rocks like yours at Michaels. I've made 2 molds this week and tagged you in one on Instagram so you get credit for the inspiration.
I would LOVE to see the video of the final pour if you made one!! If you didn't make a video, can you explain how you achieved that design on the item? It's gorgeous!!!
Thank you so much ☺️ Video #128 was made using this mold for the first time, as well as many other videos since then. I’m this video there are links in the description to all the things I used to make it, including the acrylic ice chips from Amazon ☺️
Thanks for making this video. I always like to see how different people make their molds. 😊 I'm going to have to order some silicone putty. I want to make myself a deep mold and see how that goes. My son has printed out some mold housings for me already.
You’re welcome! I would really like to get my hands on some round mold housings, my friend Tammy’s son is making some for her so maybe one day. Good luck with your mold making!
Thank you for sharing this! I tried making one with crushed glass, which seemed really sparkly, but it ended up kind of blah. I have some large acrylic chunky stuff like you used (fish aquarium leftovers) so maybe I'll try that this time 😊
Thank you! ☺️ The first one I ever made was using crushed glass, but it’s hard to find one that will work well. I think aquarium pieces would work great! Good luck!
The coaster is beautiful. I made a similar mold (it already made several molds last year) and also used the acrylic ice cubes. Unfortunately, the crystals in the finished coaster are not as shiny. I suspect that the kneading silicone is the reason. Now I'm thinking about spraying the coaster with clear varnish. After this I want to make the final mold.
Thank you 🥰 I hope the varnish gives you the results that you are after. It’s so nice to have a template piece that you can make molds from as many times as you need to. Good luck!
You would want to use the putty to set them in place. If you used it in liquid silicone they would all sink to the bottom and you wouldn’t get the same effect.
I have never used liquid latex, so I’m not really sure, sorry! I did get a new springform pan but it doesn’t have the clip on the side, it just has a bottom that pushes up. I am going to try using resin tape to seal it and see how that goes. The springform worked well for a while but the spring on mine actually broke so I was trying to find another solution. I’ll be sharing a video in the next week to show the results. Let me know if the liquid latex works for you!
Hi Jen the latex seemed too thin, so I used the silicone chalking to stop leaks. I was so excited that I poured the full mould/ template with Liquity Split by K S Resin. I'll check in the morning again but I think it flash cured.🥴 Tomorrow, I will try again. Thanks for your help & attention. ❤
Absolutely! One of my favorite molds was past it’s prime and a friend of mine used one of the coasters I had made to make me a copy of it. It worked great!
The mold can be any size you want it to be, but this mold is about 6 1/2 inches wide and just under 3/4 inch deep. You can make it to any specifications that you want to ☺️
I really enjoyed your video! I have a question. I have that crushed mirrored glass that I purchased from Michaels. I'm making a more square looking mold. Have you tried the mirrored crushed glass before? I'd hate to be so meticulous and the mirrored glass come out looking bad. I do have pieces of amethyst crystal but not sure if they are large enough. Any advice would be so much appreciated. Thanks again for putting this on RUclips.
Thank you so much! I haven’t used the mirrored glass, but in the first mold making video I shared, I did use crushed glass and it came out perfectly. The only concern I have about the mirrored glass is the white side (the back of the mirror) isn’t as reflective as the mirror side, so you may end up with a mixture of glossy and dull in your “crystal” area. I got my crushed glass at Michael’s and it’s just generic vase filler, and it exceeded my expectations. Maybe something like this? amzn.to/3uwHMhY. Fire glass is super reflective. I’ve not had luck finding tiny real crystals, although I know you can make them with Borax and other things. I’m just too busy/lazy to do it that way 😅 Maybe one day.
Alas! I found some crushed glass I crushed myself and it's not too small but about the size of yours. I feel drained today and won't attempt anything feeling this way. I may do it tomorrow.
Just rewatched this video again . I'm in bed on meds cause I got sick again or it is still the same thing . Anyway, I took your advice and ordered 2 sizes of the fireglass. I wanted a smaller one for a certain mold. My resin mentor(that's what she's been to me) wants a certain size mold a certain way and I'm attempting it for her . I've been making molds as a hobby on and off for a couple years. I'm recording it but it won't go on RUclips until I learn editing and all the rest but will share it on Instagram. Thank you for you good videos and much luck to you on your RUclips career!! You are a natural ✌️👍
I’ve never tried to use air dry clay, I’m not sure if resin would stick to it or not. If it sticks to it you wouldn’t want to use it. I know the putty gives everything a nice glossy finish, which is one thing I love about using it.

So do I! x ❤

@sunfiredesigns You were kind and generous to share with all of us. Some of the best makers hide their process. Truly thanks again Jen.

Fantastic! 🎉 LOVE the Ice 🧊 Chip Mold! 💙☺️💙 Can't wait to see all the beautiful creations!! 😊💙
Thanks so much 😊 I have a new pour coming up in the next week or so, using this mold 🩵
Thank you for sharing this step by step process. It is very informative 👍

I have been wanting to do this but found videos confusing. This is the best tutorial I have seen! I can not wait to try it. Thank you ever so much!

I'm happy to know that as well. I'm going to make a mold but I'm wanting it more in a square shape.

Thanks for such a detailed tutorial on how to make a mold! I am not sure if I will try one but now I know exactly what to do!
Thank you so much! ☺️ It’s really very fun to do, should you ever decide to give it a try. So many options to use for the edges! ☺️

Gorgeous Mold. Use silicone to seal the edge of spring form pan
Thank you! I did use silicone to seal the last mold I was working on, and it stuck to the pan and ruined it. (The pan, not the mold) 🙁
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
GREAT CREATION
Thank you so much! ☺️
What a great video! Thank you.

@@sunfiredesignsmy so made me a couple and bought me some silicone putty. I got some white stones from the Dollar Tree. Fingers crossed 🤞

Cool. Would the ice pieces work in liquid silicone also or is it better to use the putty?
You would want to use the putty to set them in place. If you used it in liquid silicone they would all sink to the bottom and you wouldn’t get the same effect.
@@sunfiredesigns thank you for answering. Didn’t even think of that
I’m going to try some liquid latex to keep my spring form pan from leaking. What do you think?
