Thats what I thought too. That scene seemed both cute and weird to me. If he doesnt want a child why does he need to be kept informed, or not have her leave his bedroom. This will all happen in season 2. (Spoiler Alert!!) If you read the book- The Viscount Who Loved Me - about Antony and Kate's romance there is a scene where they all play pall-mall and there is a reference to Daphne being pregant at that time and Simon being cute about it. If they keep to the timeline of the books, Antony's romance happens while Daphne is pregnant. So season 2 will likely happen back in time and include a pregnant Daphne.I think they ended on the birth in season 1, not to rush to the end, but to tell us that all ended well with that couple because the focus wont be on them in season 2 but we will definitely see them in passing as Antony and Kate's story unfolds, I think. The books make everything clear really.
One of things I love about the Daphne character was that she wanted marriage and a family on her terms. She wanted to marry for love so while society says a woman must marry and fulfill her role as a mother it was not enough for Daphne. It was important for her to set an example for her sisters to show that they too can have the love that their parents had. That they didn't have to marry some Berbrooke because he had money. She embraced her role as the oldest sister
@@avrilslittlesis yes, it was assault not denying that but you can't put the entire blame on daphne. She didn't know anything about sex or consent or anything else 🤷🏽♀️

Yea, but most of these fans are dumb. He clearly said he could not give her children, so that is not actually a lie. If he said he can't have children, then that would be a lie.
I think it's a disgrace that she accuses him of deception, in front of his staff! Her attempt at conception was not consensual. He told her that he could never give her children - before they married. She said it was 'him' that she could not sacrifice - not children! He, also, said that, just because children liked him, 'it didn't mean that he wanted them'! Surely, that pointed to the fact that he didn't want children. He never said that he was impotent or sterile! On their wedding night, he asked her consent to consummate their marriage. I don't think she's the sharpest knife in the box. After his declaration of his feelings for her, on their wedding night, she says that she doesn't understand what he's saying! 🤔

Yea idk too. But I think he thought that Daphne was “pregnant” I believe she said something like “let’s finish this somewhere else”. And he said no. I think he said that because he thought she was pregnant.
@ Lunartide He really does love her and she him. In this scene they were angry at each other for their own selfish reasons. Daphne, after learning that Simon can actually have children but simply chooses not to, felt she was lied to. So she tricked Simon into getting pregnant, something he did not want ( Remember the love scene where he says 'what have you done?'), so he is mad at her for what she did but kept her close to know if she indeed was pregnant. In his mind, the best way to make sure this does not happen again is to not be intimate with her in that manner again. Keep in mind, all this time, he is fighting with his own demons underneath it all.
@@lovelydaytoday3484 but after they have intimacy on the steps he says if she is not pregnant there lives will be completely separate and he will not darken her doorstep again meaning he won't see her again remember in the portrait painting scene he is telling her that he is leaving London (and her) I just thought that was so very cold to leave her that was his intent until she gives her speech at the ball and he decides to stay with her.
