Great Video!! Loved the edit! Can't go wrong with Will Phelps on camera. Met Rooster at a lodge in Alaska. He entered by saying, "I ask your forgiveness for that which is about to occur!" What a great character!!!
Hi April. When I lived in Bozeman, I found the fish on the Madison hard to catch. Rented a wet suit, mask, fins and a snorkel. Floated about 5 miles in the river, trying to find out what they were eating and how they behaved. Learned a few things: More fish hold in front of a rock than behind, fish play together, and LOTS of animals die in the river (bones everywhere).
We implemented Hoot Owl in Alberta the last couple of years too, on our southern mountain and foothill trout streams. Everyone loses their minds over it, but it saves on my fuel bill for a few weeks. 😁
The Madison is one of my favorite rivers, especially the section around 3 Dollar Bridge. Plus add Stillwater fishing in Hebgen, oh hell yeah! And there are a lot of big fishing egos in Montana. Love listening to an "expert" of 5 or 10 years spouting off with the Latin names of bugs.
looked fun, so why split your time between Australia and BC? No steelhead or salmon down that way. I would think the salt water action is off the hook though....?
just stumbled across your channel....... I was wondering why your name sounded familiar, then it clicked....... I've been seeing you in vids for probably 20 years,,,,, way back when you were blonde or had blonde highlights...... good to see your still at it!
Hoot owl is not just a Montana thing or phrase.. with summers getting warmer throughout the west the regulations are enforced in Colorado , Wyoming , and elsewhere .
@@robertjirava942heading north pretty quick. 😊. Coming in for my grandma’s funeral (and to support my folks) and then disappearing into the woods. Have you been well!? Shoot me an email sometime!
All these little guys in their "guide uniforms". Back in the day, we called that "playin' the role". This does make me want to fish the Madison again, though. I apologize for not using the word "vibe"
outfitting on the rivers is out of control, its ridiculous.....commercial use particularily on the Madison and Yellowstone is making it unfair for locals....sure we know plenty of other places to go but why should recreational in state license holders be put in second place....BS
The guide didn’t wet his hands before handling that stream fish, to do so burns the protective slime off them and exposes the fish to disease. I would not employ a “guide” like that. Lay off the beer and learn to be professional please.
This is to a T dream vacation for me. Here in Oklahoma there is no such thing as a mountain stream with wild trout. What gorgeous country settings with a gorgeous girl behind the camera. Id love to meet and fish with u April. Ive been following u for quite some time now. Love u and love ur content.
@@SOS673I’m hardly a RUclips star. 😉. I loved all the wonderful guides and people at both lodges. Happy to hear other suggestions for my next time through.
Man, you could not be more accurate. Of course, we need to remember that flyfishing and guiding is THE most ego-driven pastime in this area. Glad I was already "old" at it (started in the 1950's) before it became about your rod, your sunglasses, and how many articulations there are in your streamer. (and who you called by their first name, even if they didn't know who the hell you are/were.)
Hey, that’s Will Phelps! And he is wearing a Wild Fly solar hoodie! Awesome!
Montana is truly magical. Love every moment I get to spend there
What a great video! Just fun, real, relaxed, great vibe. Thanks for doing it.
Looked like a great fun trip, especially with Rooster. Would love to visit Montana one day.

The best fishing program ever the production the camera work and of course April is absolutely Beautiful best wishes Kinnon (Scotland)
Kinnon, you are far too kind ☺️
A truly fun, refreshing Vlog! I am going immediately to the others after I hit that subscribe button. Featuring your young guide was pure goodness!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Glad you got to fish with Hunter. He's was a super fishy kid working at Fish First through high school.
FishFirst! and you are the best dude! So glad to hear that Hunter is from our neck of the woods.

The creek fishing was incredible
We use those hoppers (or close to it) for salmon here in the Gaula when the water is low, you must come back and try it April:)
This might be the best fishing video I have seen. Great work April
🙏🏻
Up to that point I enjoyed this a lot.
this was a wonderful video April…you have a unique and very comfortable style with your stuff…much appreciated
Thank you so much!
Would recommend Xanadu from 1981 exit stage left if you want to see what these guys do live! They are the greatest
That was a nice party. Nice fishing there
It's so refreshing to see a trout fishing video by someone that actually knows what she is talking about.

I'm thinking next trip for us to the US will be Montana! Awesome video
That was amazing 👍
Awesome vid. Back in MEATEATER country. Almost made it to BC. (or on route)
That was great!

April, now you need to visit Colorado and the Blue Quill Angler.
How cool are those bird nests 😎

Damn straight! Need to do a whole video about working with him. Legend. 💕
can't wait to see more with you and Will @@AprilVokey
I had the pleasure of spending 5 days hunting elk in MT in 2021 with Will Phelps as videographer. Great guy!
That hoot owl law is brilliant, nice to see some states applying common sense to protect the fish.
Hi April. Nice to see you have a great time in MT. Not sure if you are still there. Are you coming to Chilliwack?
Back on Friday!

Omg. Dream girl ❤
Nice size trout
Montana is a nice place
Great vid...are you a Scott girl?
I’m a “whatever’s lined and ready to cast” girl. 😊
When I went it was sensory overload. As you know fly fishing requires concentration but the incredible scenery was distracting.
GO SEE DAN AT BEARTOOTH CAMERON MT SOUTH OF ENNIS ON THE MADISON ASK HIM TO TAKE YOU TO THE MO IF I WAS THERE I WOULD TAKE YOU.
👍👍👍✌
Not ashamed to say that I have a massive crush on this woman
☺️
Where's Johnnie?
Didn’t get to fish with him 🥲

Poor baby. Only 400 miles of blue ribbon trout streams in MT. How awful for you. Do your best and soldier on, champ.

let's be honest Kelly and Roooster are kind of the the biggest egos in Montana. And Montana is a state of egos.
