- In this video I take my 1989 Yamaha FZR 600 for a ride by the Poudre river. While this bike may be old, it can still be a blast to ride. I also consider it to be one of the best looking motorcycles ever, but that is just my opinion. My skills as a videographer are not great, but I hope you can enjoy this video and learn a bit about the FZR 600.

I was 27 in 1989. You simply cannot overstate the impact the FZR 600 had on the sportbike landscape. The term ‘game changer’ is over used, but would be spot on here.
I had a '93, all stock, except for the VH exhaust. Great bike. Loved it in the twisties up here in Ontario, CA. Those twin headlights. Iconic.
Had the same and sure loved that bike. Looking back though it was very uncomfortable and put my hands to sleep. I was skinny and a young man back then lol
@@yodabolt1247 yep. I had to get a gel seat that I just sat on, not installed. Same with hands/wrists. And I wouldn't change a thing.:)
Bike sounds great. I’m not a sports bike guy myself but I can appreciate the appeal. Great vid
Welcome to the club..when you finally opened her up,all my hairs on the back of my neck stood up... mine decided to select 2 gears at the same time in harborne High St in 2000.. Good find.
First year bike and clean with the stock pipe very nice. I had a new one in 93 and loved it
Great bike I am restoring a 1994 fzr 600 it's a keeper for me, love the video
Had a grey one. The dual headlights were my fave
Bought a new cocktail yellow 1995. Still think it was the best looking FZR600 ever made.
Another thing most didn't know about, was the gas tank was fake. The air box was underneath it. The real tank, you had to remove the seat, to get access to.
always loved the dual headlights.
Absolutely sick FZR. Restore it as much as you can & take care of it because it's only going up in value. WOW motorcycles has a V&H limited edition that looks like it's under gone a full restoration listed for $9000 right now. It's insane what's happened to the values of these classic sports bikes.
I just scored a 92 fzr project today. I actually live in Denver as well.
I currently have a 93 with a little over 5000 miles and I love it. The shocks need some work, but has plenty of power.
unfassbar geil ..
Hello again I would just like to say that on your FZR. Yes you do have a standard exhaust system. But the canister is from a 1990 model. The 1989 model has a black canister. You are talking about putting some new tyres on your bike. I have Bridgestone tires on my FZR. Front is a 110/70 17inch and rear tyre is 150/70 BT016 PRO. I used to put the BT014'S but you can't get them anymore. But I am in the UK. Great Britain. Which they have been brilliant tyres. Maybe this information will be helpful for you for putting tyres on your FZR. 😀👍.
Nice one , I like that color combo better than the black that I have ... like the stock muffler sounds better, mine has the VH muffler
Nice bike. I own a black 1989 FZR 600 here in the UK. I have had for 14 years now. I used to own a white and red 1989 model like yours. Back in the years 1991/1992. My favorite Yamaha bike of all time. Like you. Timeless fun machine. Anyway enjoy your FZR 👍.
Do you think being 1,73cm is too short for that bike?
@@xorolif don't you mean inches not cm's. If we are talking about a person here?.
And if you are on about the height of the bike. Definitely not.
@@nickcox8049 sorry i just wrote one more "c", i meant 1,73 m (probably 5'8")😂
This i my height
Yep, buying the one i saw on marketplace now
Gorgeous!
I can't remember if it was both sizes, but I do recall an FZR limited edition Vance and Hines color option. it was magenta, and yellow. Again, can't remember if it was only for one bike, or both ( 600/1000 cc)
But asuch as y'all will throw bottles at me, my favorite one, was the single headlight, that was white, with the black and red accents.
I know this is a year old but in case you were still wondering......They only made 600 of the V and H editions and it was in 1993, only on the 600cc model!
@@GOOTSlive thx!
My first bike...i was 15🎉thanks shop dealer con mom
I got the same bike 🏍
Nice 1st gen FZR600, getting hard to find in that condition. Im restoring its big brother at the moment, an 87 FZR1000, (the 1st gen ones are better looking IMHO) theres so many parts that look like they are straight of the 87/88 1000s, the clocks are identical, so are the mirrors.
nice
Awesome bike! Were these sold in the states or was it imported? I drove a few dirt bikes as a kid and I want to get a sport bike after college, so do you think this would be a good option? My dad has a 2008 Aprilia Shiver, but I have always been into Yamahas😁
The FZR 600 and 1000 were sold in the US. I think the 600 is a great choice for a beginner, the 1000 is kinda heavy. They are hard to find in good condition now, but if you can find one I say go for it.
Rather have 1 of these than 5 r6s. When bikes looked awesome handled great and roder totally controlled bike. Real riding not just a passenger.on tech filled toy
Found a 95 for sale that looks like this for $2500 would that be a good price?
I got a 96 FZR600 sat up for 9yrs now the brakes locked up, need new clutch, brakes/calipers and now carb work. Wonder how much it would cost. it's been garaged kept and looks great. Can anyone possibly guess how much I'm looking at to get it back straight. No accidents paint looks new still.
if you do it yourself maybe 500-600 if you source parts creatively, i am restoring a 93 right now, feel free to let me know if you need help !
My FZR 250 3LN1 is great .
I I have just bought one and I'm looking for parts for it you know a good place I can order parts from and plastics
Airtech streamlining offers fiberglass fairings, everything else I've had to get off ebay.
