This is the main reason I haven't upgraded any AC on my RV. My middle AC (the only one I'd think about replacing) controls the furnace as well. All replacements I've researched is just like what you installed, no wall mounted controls, only remote.
Thank you for this, this is big and I hope brands start including this with the AC units. If Furrion did this, I'd upgrade to a cube right now.

You did exactly what I was thinking about, the 2 wire thermostat easy install and all is working.
Did the same thing a few years back when i upgraded to heat pump / AC unit, pu standard 2 wire thermostats to control the gas furance

Link for the thermostat? Just installed a similar ac unit and now need to do this to get my heat to work.
Here is my issue.. I was excited about this AC unit but I don’t like the remote at all… I am a big fan of my easy touch thermostat… not only is it a nice touch screen but I don’t actually ever even touch it… I love the app so I can monitor my rig from anywhere and turn on heat or air on my way back to get it ready for me… if this unit can’t be wired into the existing unit I just wouldn’t be a buyer… the bottom line is if they haven’t done it already they need to step it up and make this compatible like every other AC unit..
Now turn both the A/C and furnace on at the same time. May the best climate win!
Just to make sure I am following and to summarize, you essentially connected the two "FURNACE" wires into your heat only thermostat? No need to run 12v+ to the thermostat?

Does that fan on the AC stay running when changing speeds or does it stop then restart like older AC units do?
It would have been easier to have replaced the other AC instead and left the controls as before
