For some reason, I always loved Superman earth 1. There is always something homely and wholesome about the story. It's very warm. I like it.
What is the continuity of this Superman? Of this world? Was it rebooted after the new52? Or was it just recently created in the history of D.C. Comics?
Artyforpeace the new 52 earth we see all the time is earth 0,this is just the next one which doesn't affect the main continuity
I'm with you earth one is awesome and a interesting take on superman and gives a very good reason why he's at the daily planet i never understood why people feel it's gloomy and dark

I almost forgot how much Man of Steel was inspired by this comic, I saw the similarities in theaters when I first saw it, just didn't remember how so until now.
Mitrik Gaduk Maybe the DCEU is basing itself from the Earth 1 comics. Much like how Spider-Man: Homecoming was possibly based from the Ultimate universe with hints potentially leading to eventually seeing Miles Morales.

I know this comment is 2 years old, but some new rumors about the upcoming Batman film make this comment more interesting. Apparently, the new film is taking inspiration from Earth One Batman and if this is true, then that's pretty neat considering how Man of Steel took inspiration from Earth One Superman.

John Paul Sumabong man of steel totally fucked the character up. I’m sorry if you like it, that doesn’t matter, but you need to admit that Snyder’s (in Zack Snyder not Scott Snyder) Superman is nothing at all like comic book Superman.
That and Snyder's biggest fail with many of his movies and why I don't like Man of Steel is that a lot of his characters do things for the sake of plot without making it feel like that is what the characters would actually do, which Man of Steel was just the point where people where done with it thus, admittedly getting more hate than warranted but still Snyder's superman, was not a masterpiece or trash. It was a meh movie and I'm tired of this argument.

This is another version of superman in a diffirent universe.the og supes might or might not have some of this things.

I like the S symbol of hope. This backstory of him wearing tights and a big 'S' because his mom thinks he's special is lame. He's even wearing his red underwear on the outside because of... mom.

I always liked the idea of Krypton's destruction being from another power.... Like, maybe Darkseid saw the Kryptonians as a threat, and had Krypton destroyed to eliminate the threat.... I ALSO like the idea that Clark's ship took a LOOOONNNNGG time to get to Earth..... Thousands of years, if not more..... By the time his ship arrives, with him in stasis, Krypton is long gone.... This version is pretty close to that, with Clark and his parents having almost no knowledge of his origins. He knows he's from.... somewhere.... The suit probably should be from Krypton, so it's not being destroyed all the time.
John Coe I always liked the concept that brainiac played a role in the destruction of krypton. Like, after he bottled kandor, krypton started to fall apart (figuratively)

I disagree the suit was made from material for the ship so it technically is from Krypton but was made into a suit by his parents
My favorite is the origin from Superman: The Animated Series. That version had Brainiac created by the Kryptonians and they had become far too reliant on him and that’s why they refused to listen to Jor-El’s warnings about the coming apocalypse since Brainiac said all was well...but he was lying because he didn’t want to waste his time trying to save Krypton and instead wanted to leave Krypton to explore the galaxy

The suit was what a farmer in Kansas thought looked good. When you can burn holes through mountains just by looking at them, you'd be surprised what you can get away with wearing in public.
I see elements of this story in Man of Steel, I like that.

Is it wrong that I prefer this version of Superman and New 52 over the Pre-New 52 and Rebirth versions? They just seem a lot more relatable and "human".
Well of course you but not Everyone likes him which is why we like the pre 52 version and the rebirth version we're brought back in the new 52 version of him was killed certain fans don't like it when you changed a character and give them flaws specifically like Superman because he wasn't originally made to be relatable I could see why you would like him
Superman werent made to be relatable. He's an Alien with supernatural power. The only thing i would be able to relate would probably be him wanting to fit in. But thats it. If i want a more relatable human character id find someone else. Pre 52 superman is the OG that i grew up with. He's like a father i grew up admiring, knowing he can overcome anythjng.

Sam Mayes this version of Superman is almost indistinguishable from the canon Superman in character, he's just younger. It sounds like you don't read lots of Superman comics
Afraid I haven't read much of the man of steel. You're correct on that.
Earlier versions of supes (like silver age comic version) I always find to perfect in anything he does, or there is never any doubt he can persevere past the threat of the week.

Sam Mayes I always thought that’s how Superman is suppose to be. He’s suppose to be a symbol of justice and represent good. I still think he’s interesting in his own right. Though I haven’t read much Superman comics Blockbuster Fan says Superman does mercy kill which gives Superman some flaws by not being able to save everyone.

Watching this made me think twice of how I see Man of Steel, especially now that I know where it is based. At first, I didn't liked it that much because it was very different from what I've used to see, I was naive about anything about comics way back then. But now, I think they've actually did a good job with it. Sadly, most of us never knew where it is based that's why we never understood why it is like that way back then.
I love this comment so much. So many have made up their minds about MoS because of what pop culture has made us believe in these characters. Very few have actually read some of the more interesting stories of them. There is a lot of MoS in this and vice versa. An imperfect Superman is such a good story but so many only knew what they knew from cartoons and old movies and not from really great stories like this one.
If anything for me this just made man of steel look even worse.

Indeed... it always made me laugh how supposed "comic fans" hated MoS for not being like the Superman they "know". It's things like that that make the fake fans easy to spot when it's clear they've never read a comic. Another example is Batman killing... he used to kill quite a lot, up until the animated series cartoon made him kid friendly.

Actually bought this comic series. It was surprisingly good. Classic villians re imagined quite well, insightful look into Clarks psyke and some emotional maturity moments with his friends.
