A lot of people seem to be confused. Broly is the main character in this movie. He's not the big bad. He's the focus. Everyone else is just plot devices.

The thing that blew me away the most was the animation. The fight scenes were amazing. Funniest part in the theatre was when Goku & Vegeta lure Broly to Frieza and Goku's like "Have fun Frieza" then he just gets demolished for a couple hours. Crowd was all laughs like an old Scooby Doo episode.
Yeah I'm surprised he was able to hold his golden Frieza form long enough for Whis to go okay frieza you've had enough let me play with Broly for a while.
They are trying to emphasise that Gokus not a super hero. He just likes to fight. Honestly Vegeta seems to be more normal in his outlook seeing as he loves his wife and child while Goku seems to treat his family as people he meets between training. Vegeta said he'd rather die than do the fusion dance and then did it anyway to save his family.
@@franconnorton7087 One, Toriyama could have done that without making it so that they just awkwardly lets Freeza go like none of the movie ever happened. Two, it clashes terribly with what Vegeta says at the beginning of the movie about training to ensure Freeze doesn't do anything horrible. If anything, your point about how much Vegeta cares about his family is a strike against the scene, because Vegeta caring about his family means he would have tried to take Freeza out before he could potentially cause any more danger to the earth.
The fact that you think goku telling him to call him kakarot is making fun of the other broly bothers me do you not see the significance of it the whole thing is he hates when people call him that the only other person he let's call him that is vegeta it is a huge sign of respect and honor
Yeah, to me it really signified him embracing that Saiyan heritage more, almost be proud of it. He would always consider himself an Earthling or go out of his way to say he was a Saiyan raised on Earth. Also, that moment Vegeta is about to finish Broly off Goku seems really distressed about it. As if he was saying "dude we just met new Saiyan from our own universe! There is more of us! Let's be happy about that, not kill them off!" I think we'll see more interest from Goku in the background of his people in future media.

Dragonball has no place for cgi, just keep it classic with the buu art style. Goku and Vegeta attack on broly looked horrible, budokia tenkieachi did it better.
As much as Ssj3 is badass, it literally takes way too much energy from Goku so even if he fought against Broly in that form; if Broly even survived Goku would be in a very bad spot since he would've lost a lot of energy

Don't sweat these kinds of minor details. In DBZ Dende's Shenron could grant three wishes, in Resurrection F it granted two, and in this it only grants one. Ultimately they aren't a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

One of my favorite parts is where SSG Goku just holds Broly down with his Ki for a moment and then soon after, Broly did the same thing to Goku. As well as the Broly first person view, it was quick but cool to see.
I'd go as far to say that the new Broly movie is the best DBZ movie of all time. BoG deserves it's props for essentially revitalizing the franchise, but based on it's own merits, it's not nearly as amazing as Broly was.
I think the tension in this movie, was whether or not Broly was gonna survive the movie. If anything, Vegeta and Goku come off as secondary characters compared to Broly.

I wanted tekking to make vids on boruto but I feel that series is so shameful in milking that it doesn't deserve his time...gt had more dignity than boruto in general..why did they continue the story and why focus on another character..just why...like come on...

Gogeta >> Vegito All Day, Everyday, 24/7 365. I waited so long to Gogeta to be cannon. This movie was really good, I was not expecting that. DBZ movies are usually just basic, simple Movies. But I loved the back story for Broly, it felt different and it worked. I also appreciated that he wasn't just a mindless killer. He actually didn't sound like a psychopath in this movie.
Would of liked to see some of the rest of the z fighters' reactions to broly's power. Well I guess they couldn't because yamcha would 've ended it in under 1 second.
Ya know speaking of space. I always thought the natural evolution of One Piece was that after Skypiea we would see some progression towards sky ships. Something akin to Treasure Planet and that eventaully all pirates would have pirate ships that fly and eventually take that to space where Enel is only the first stop and then space "pirate" ships are abundant. Yes, animation-wise DBS Broly crushes both of those movies. But Battle of Gods had a much tighter script. BoG was pretty much the perfect length, leaving no loose ends while making you excited to see what comes next, while Broly feels very choppy in places due to around an hour and a half being cut from its original screenplay. They're both great movies, but they definitely are comparable when thinking about which is better.

It didn't take long for me to ship Broly and Cheelai. I prefer this Broly to the old Broly, and I still prefer old Bardock to this new one. I like Gine just fine, but I have to say my favorite Goku's Mom is Agra19's Sarazade.

I just finished watching the movie, and my two major complains were the hands drawn in this movie and there was a scene where Frieza's tail grew out of portion.
For me, Broly definitely tops all the other DB films! Battle of Gods may have gotten the franchise back on top, but the fight scenes were subpar compared to Broly. That’s why I prefer the Dragon Ball Super version of Battle of Gods; much more dramatic.
I just watched the movie today. I loved it. Phenomenal animation and overall characters. This is easily one of my favorite DB movies, and I have never been a SSJB fan by any means but this movie changed my perspective on it just a bit because they didn't just spam SSJB constantly
Broly potentially god of destruction? He has the strength, learns insanely fast, his mind is basically unbiased on destruction since he's actually pure minded making him a perfect candidate & being the legendary super saiyan could tie him into beerus's introduction prophecy from Whis
I didn't really find Frieza's reasons for not wanting immortality all that compelling. I can get still wanting to be hurt as he sees it as a game, but how is his time in Hell comparable to a hypothetical immortal life outside of Hell? Either way Frieza would be "immortal" hes immortally suffering or immortally running his Empire. Is an immortal life while alive a worse Hell than Hell? If they just left it at, "it takes the fun out of the game" it would make far more sense.
Frieza realized the downside of immortality in Hell. Since being immortal while being tortured is not good. Besides, even if Frieza became immortal, techniques like Mafuba or Hakai, can negate his immortality. So he disregarded the idea.
@@DBFanPol That logic doesn't work my dude. If Frieza dies he suffers an immortal fate in Hell, how is that comparable to being immortal in the living world? Hakai and Mafuba would always be options anyway to get rid of Frieza but atleast he dwindles down their options. Say Frieza was being beaten to death, he dies and hes subject to more torture that according to him is the worst fate. If hes immortal, his opponent would eventually get bored or tired unless they have Hakai or Mafuba. Both are extremely rare moves, so its not like the average fighter even has access to that. Hakai could actually benefit Frieza as he wouldn't exist anymore to suffer in Hell forever.
I thought the way they framed freizas wish to be taller was juxtaposed very well with bulmas wish to be 5 years younger as people would wonder if it was more, freiza has the excuse hes still growing, bulma can say its just good health. It was great at showing how much of a diva each are
They really went all out on this movie. They even emphasis on the transformations. Just seeing them all was fantastic. I really love all the God transformations.

the animation in this movie was so crazy goooooooood. the stakes for this one didn't feel as high as the original...it was a different tone in that way... but I loved it! I also why am i cheering for bitch-ass frieza the whole time lol
I enjoyed all the detail to the back story even mentioning Vegeta's brother being alive out their, he was a random mention once in movie 14 with the dragon punch and odd detail on how Trunks gets his sword. Very good movie one I did not expect to see in theatres in the US.
Oh one thing about when he was tapping into that humanoid ozrou form he literally bulked out becoming physically much larger than either Goku or Vegeta. The thing that really got me was frieza's recalling Namek in deciding to make paragus into Broly's Krillin
The fact that frieza's fight with broly being an hour long was only a few minutes on screen and the 30 minutes fusion even in blue wasn't just a few minutes makes this the best DB movie XD and OMG freiza's reaction to the fusion concept was fucking gold ..
What I think is perhaps the most important part of introducing Broly and letting him alive here is that we see Broly has a switch of sorts. He is kinda like Gohan in a way, in that he doesn't want to fight. This will probably be terribly important in the future to make it so they don't have a simple OP backup option whenever universe 7 is in trouble.
I mean the hole cast of DB is useless right now with the exception of Goku and Vegeta and maybe Gohan so one more character was almost needed so we wont end up with just those 2
On the topic of the wish, I was kinda thinking they were gonna wish for Broly to be able to control his power. I’m glad they didn’t since it opens up for better character development for Broly, but I never thought the wish was gonna be something so simple as to just teleport Broly home. I like it.
Saw the movie last night and I enjoyed the back story on Planet Vegeta. Seeing Broly as an actual character was cool, I'd have to watch the movie again when it's on DVD/Blu-ray to appreciate him more because throughout the movie I wasn't used to seeing Broly like that because of the previous movies he's in.

Watched this yesterday. Was GREAT! The crowd loved it. The theater did mess it up a bit though, the first 2 minutes we could hear but not see any video.
I love broly but the fact this happens in Super makes him almost unreasonably strong. Matching gogeta through sheer force of will is awesome but pushing it. If it was anyone else than broly (who was established as a a prodigy above all others in old canon and it’s been accepted for a while) then I wouldn’t buy it even for dragonball, like the kale and caulifa situation.
hes power is just like super sayajin 4 from GT. a Super sayan with the power of the Ape form without being a giant ape. so we are not talking about freeza want to grow up like 5 cm or Bulma asking for 5 years less ok XD
This Was definitely Broly's Movie rather than just another DragonBall film. We Spent The End Focusing On NOT letting Broly Die ,which everyone Predicted was going to Happen in the film. & THAT MOMENT WHEN YOU GET 1ST PERSON PERSPECTIVE OF WHAT BROLY SEES DURING THE FIGHT AS THOUGH YOU WERE FLYING. I Loved The way they animated the Transformations, Incorporating Green into the SuperSayain Yellow -to-Red -to-Blue Transformation. Matching Broly's Ki (Green isMy favorite Color ) BRING BROLY BACK ASAP
Broly's not the antagonist, he's the protagonist. That's where the narrative stakes come in, we don't want him to kill anybody, but he also doesn't deserve to die. The battle doesn't end with being struck by a cataclysmic energy blast, but escaping at the last second from the overwhelming force.
Just wanted to say maybe you should rewacth the first movie I can agree he has no personality in the second and third but in the first he talked a lot. He actually talks to Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and when he kills his dad he shows intellect his dad was going to leave him to hit the asteroid along with the z-warriors and tries to lie to Broly which he sees right through and throws him into the moon. Favorite line from the first movie from broly is when goku asks for a handicap and he says is that another word for a coffin probably one of the most savage lines in dbz history.
Tekkking, don’t you mean Gojuta, lol. Thank you that they made Broly into an actually human being, who have emotions and not just a screaming bulking Hulk. There is one scene that the animation team did that I like, they did a first person Broly, the audience were looking through Broly’s eye as Goku was attacking him. At the end of the movie when Goku say, there are something that I want to teach him. I have a bad feeling when he say that, it’s usually the other way around, he learn from people, Goku couldn’t understand that one word when Freeza was talking. I think Broly will help Goku unlock something in the series if all original 18 universe were brought back, not just the 7 that were erased during the ToP. If there are villains/antagonist that are more powerful than Jiren, and Goku can’t tap into UI, then he better figure something out fast.
SS4 was the best part of GT in my mind, since it brought back one of the coolest parts of being a Saiyan. I felt that Saiyans were neutered and lost their uniqueness once the tail was removed, then they became a multicolor rainbow humans. Plus the design is rad, way more interesting than a different color of super saiyan or longer hair. I'm willing to believe that Broly's breaking was a reference to SS4 at least but I'm not sure it'll actually happen-happen. If it does though, then it'll have to be entering that psuedo-great-ape form, and then regaining your sense of self just like in GT where the great ape form had to retain their sense of self (and of course since Vegeta could already do that for the most part as seen before his tail is cut off he just had to cheat his transformation and then BAM, SS4). The Great Ape form is dangerous, but it can be controlled with appropriate training, training Goku and Gohan never had the chance to learn. In fact, I think Vegeta is the only saiyan who canonically goes great ape as an adult on screen. Sooo I am hoping even if it's not SS4 but just the psuedo-ape form or something new, Vegeta gets it first and lords this massive power boost over Goku until he caves and teaches Goku how to control his inner great ape.
Not being bias here, just being real... This film is not underrated or overrated, it’s PERFECT!!!!!! “THIS FILM IS THE BEST DB FILM EVER AND PROBABLY UNTOUCHABLE” As a Dragon Ball IP it’s all about the fight. DB is never a story driven like Naruto or One Piece. Yes DB has storylines but it’s not complicated or take time to learn more of the story like Naruto and One Piece. DB has always been simple, “bad guy show up, Goku them fight, lose, hero power up and beat the bad guy.” I feel like this film did the greatest job of achieving that quality of DB and magnified it to Ultra Instinct level. If you’re going in expecting it to be Oscar worthy, La La Land level then you’re watching the wrong film..... This film delivered the emotional feels, goosebumps moments, jaw dropping action scenes and spectacular visual that never before seen in a DB series. To me as a DB film it’s a 10/10. It could possibly be my best theater experience more than Infinity War..... Hoping for a 3rd showing before this epicness leave the theater. Not likely cause they didn’t animate it but it would be a dream come true, my whole bank account worthy if they actually release Akira’s 3 hour version....

There's no way they'd do it on the first try but it isn't a testament to the fact that Vegeta is a fighter. No matter how silly the pose is he knows how to use angle his body. The fact that one hour was enough makes sense even if they didn't necessarily need the urgency

Don't sweat these kinds of minor details. In DBZ Dende's Shenron could grant three wishes, in Resurrection F it granted two, and in this it only grants one. Ultimately they aren't a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

One of my favorite parts is where SSG Goku just holds Broly down with his Ki for a moment and then soon after, Broly did the same thing to Goku. As well as the Broly first person view, it was quick but cool to see.

I'd go as far to say that the new Broly movie is the best DBZ movie of all time.
BoG deserves it's props for essentially revitalizing the franchise, but based on it's own merits, it's not nearly as amazing as Broly was.
I think the tension in this movie, was whether or not Broly was gonna survive the movie. If anything, Vegeta and Goku come off as secondary characters compared to Broly.

Gogeta >> Vegito All Day, Everyday, 24/7 365. I waited so long to Gogeta to be cannon. This movie was really good, I was not expecting that. DBZ movies are usually just basic, simple Movies. But I loved the back story for Broly, it felt different and it worked. I also appreciated that he wasn't just a mindless killer. He actually didn't sound like a psychopath in this movie.

Bruh no, Battle of Gods and Resurrection F don’t compare to this movie. This is the first time I’ve had to disagree with Tekking, other than his favorite Strawhat being Franky lol.
Yes, animation-wise DBS Broly crushes both of those movies. But Battle of Gods had a much tighter script. BoG was pretty much the perfect length, leaving no loose ends while making you excited to see what comes next, while Broly feels very choppy in places due to around an hour and a half being cut from its original screenplay. They're both great movies, but they definitely are comparable when thinking about which is better.

I just finished watching the movie, and my two major complains were the hands drawn in this movie and there was a scene where Frieza's tail grew out of portion.

For me, Broly definitely tops all the other DB films! Battle of Gods may have gotten the franchise back on top, but the fight scenes were subpar compared to Broly. That’s why I prefer the Dragon Ball Super version of Battle of Gods; much more dramatic.
I just watched the movie today. I loved it. Phenomenal animation and overall characters. This is easily one of my favorite DB movies, and I have never been a SSJB fan by any means but this movie changed my perspective on it just a bit because they didn't just spam SSJB constantly

I didn't really find Frieza's reasons for not wanting immortality all that compelling. I can get still wanting to be hurt as he sees it as a game, but how is his time in Hell comparable to a hypothetical immortal life outside of Hell? Either way Frieza would be "immortal" hes immortally suffering or immortally running his Empire. Is an immortal life while alive a worse Hell than Hell? If they just left it at, "it takes the fun out of the game" it would make far more sense.
Frieza realized the downside of immortality in Hell. Since being immortal while being tortured is not good. Besides, even if Frieza became immortal, techniques like Mafuba or Hakai, can negate his immortality. So he disregarded the idea.
@@DBFanPol That logic doesn't work my dude. If Frieza dies he suffers an immortal fate in Hell, how is that comparable to being immortal in the living world? Hakai and Mafuba would always be options anyway to get rid of Frieza but atleast he dwindles down their options.
Say Frieza was being beaten to death, he dies and hes subject to more torture that according to him is the worst fate. If hes immortal, his opponent would eventually get bored or tired unless they have Hakai or Mafuba.
Both are extremely rare moves, so its not like the average fighter even has access to that. Hakai could actually benefit Frieza as he wouldn't exist anymore to suffer in Hell forever.

I thought the way they framed freizas wish to be taller was juxtaposed very well with bulmas wish to be 5 years younger as people would wonder if it was more, freiza has the excuse hes still growing, bulma can say its just good health. It was great at showing how much of a diva each are

I enjoyed all the detail to the back story even mentioning Vegeta's brother being alive out their, he was a random mention once in movie 14 with the dragon punch and odd detail on how Trunks gets his sword. Very good movie one I did not expect to see in theatres in the US.

Oh one thing about when he was tapping into that humanoid ozrou form he literally bulked out becoming physically much larger than either Goku or Vegeta. The thing that really got me was frieza's recalling Namek in deciding to make paragus into Broly's Krillin

The fact that frieza's fight with broly being an hour long was only a few minutes on screen and the 30 minutes fusion even in blue wasn't just a few minutes makes this the best DB movie XD
and OMG freiza's reaction to the fusion concept was fucking gold ..
What I think is perhaps the most important part of introducing Broly and letting him alive here is that we see Broly has a switch of sorts. He is kinda like Gohan in a way, in that he doesn't want to fight. This will probably be terribly important in the future to make it so they don't have a simple OP backup option whenever universe 7 is in trouble.
I mean the hole cast of DB is useless right now with the exception of Goku and Vegeta and maybe Gohan so one more character was almost needed so we wont end up with just those 2
On the topic of the wish, I was kinda thinking they were gonna wish for Broly to be able to control his power. I’m glad they didn’t since it opens up for better character development for Broly, but I never thought the wish was gonna be something so simple as to just teleport Broly home. I like it.
Saw the movie last night and I enjoyed the back story on Planet Vegeta. Seeing Broly as an actual character was cool, I'd have to watch the movie again when it's on DVD/Blu-ray to appreciate him more because throughout the movie I wasn't used to seeing Broly like that because of the previous movies he's in.

Matching gogeta through sheer force of will is awesome but pushing it. If it was anyone else than broly (who was established as a a prodigy above all others in old canon and it’s been accepted for a while) then I wouldn’t buy it even for dragonball, like the kale and caulifa situation.

This Was definitely Broly's Movie rather than just another DragonBall film. We Spent The End Focusing On NOT letting Broly Die ,which everyone Predicted was going to Happen in the film. & THAT MOMENT WHEN YOU GET 1ST PERSON PERSPECTIVE OF WHAT BROLY SEES DURING THE FIGHT AS THOUGH YOU WERE FLYING. I Loved The way they animated the Transformations, Incorporating Green into the SuperSayain Yellow -to-Red -to-Blue Transformation. Matching Broly's Ki

Broly's not the antagonist, he's the protagonist. That's where the narrative stakes come in, we don't want him to kill anybody, but he also doesn't deserve to die. The battle doesn't end with being struck by a cataclysmic energy blast, but escaping at the last second from the overwhelming force.
Just wanted to say maybe you should rewacth the first movie I can agree he has no personality in the second and third but in the first he talked a lot. He actually talks to Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and when he kills his dad he shows intellect his dad was going to leave him to hit the asteroid along with the z-warriors and tries to lie to Broly which he sees right through and throws him into the moon. Favorite line from the first movie from broly is when goku asks for a handicap and he says is that another word for a coffin probably one of the most savage lines in dbz history.

Tekkking, don’t you mean Gojuta, lol. Thank you that they made Broly into an actually human being, who have emotions and not just a screaming bulking Hulk. There is one scene that the animation team did that I like, they did a first person Broly, the audience were looking through Broly’s eye as Goku was attacking him. At the end of the movie when Goku say, there are something that I want to teach him. I have a bad feeling when he say that, it’s usually the other way around, he learn from people, Goku couldn’t understand that one word when Freeza was talking. I think Broly will help Goku unlock something in the series if all original 18 universe were brought back, not just the 7 that were erased during the ToP. If there are villains/antagonist that are more powerful than Jiren, and Goku can’t tap into UI, then he better figure something out fast.
SS4 was the best part of GT in my mind, since it brought back one of the coolest parts of being a Saiyan. I felt that Saiyans were neutered and lost their uniqueness once the tail was removed, then they became a multicolor rainbow humans.
Plus the design is rad, way more interesting than a different color of super saiyan or longer hair. I'm willing to believe that Broly's breaking was a reference to SS4 at least but I'm not sure it'll actually happen-happen. If it does though, then it'll have to be entering that psuedo-great-ape form, and then regaining your sense of self just like in GT where the great ape form had to retain their sense of self (and of course since Vegeta could already do that for the most part as seen before his tail is cut off he just had to cheat his transformation and then BAM, SS4).
The Great Ape form is dangerous, but it can be controlled with appropriate training, training Goku and Gohan never had the chance to learn. In fact, I think Vegeta is the only saiyan who canonically goes great ape as an adult on screen. Sooo I am hoping even if it's not SS4 but just the psuedo-ape form or something new, Vegeta gets it first and lords this massive power boost over Goku until he caves and teaches Goku how to control his inner great ape.

As a Dragon Ball IP it’s all about the fight. DB is never a story driven like Naruto or One Piece. Yes DB has storylines but it’s not complicated or take time to learn more of the story like Naruto and One Piece. DB has always been simple, “bad guy show up, Goku them fight, lose, hero power up and beat the bad guy.” I feel like this film did the greatest job of achieving that quality of DB and magnified it to Ultra Instinct level. If you’re going in expecting it to be Oscar worthy, La La Land level then you’re watching the wrong film.....
This film delivered the emotional feels, goosebumps moments, jaw dropping action scenes and spectacular visual that never before seen in a DB series. To me as a DB film it’s a 10/10. It could possibly be my best theater experience more than Infinity War..... Hoping for a 3rd showing before this epicness leave the theater.
Not likely cause they didn’t animate it but it would be a dream come true, my whole bank account worthy if they actually release Akira’s 3 hour version....

There's no way they'd do it on the first try but it isn't a testament to the fact that Vegeta is a fighter. No matter how silly the pose is he knows how to use angle his body. The fact that one hour was enough makes sense even if they didn't necessarily need the urgency

Brooooo this movie was awesome we all clapped and cheered in many parts of the movie . This was a masterpiece also cheelai gonna have some broly jrs soon. Also @Tekking101 vegeta mentioned the possibility of freeze getting stronger and after this movies and the whole freeza holding his own for an hour do you think when the show comes back that they'll follow through when freeza tries to enslave broly again as he stated his intention to do so.
Speaking of going to space, the current arc in the DBS manga is doing that.
