Thicc Thighs and Anime Guys still, the fights cut together as one whole was 6 hours long. It’s on RUclips 6 hours and a few minutes. At least these were separate Frieda and goku spent hella episodes powering up throwing a few punches. About 2 special moves from each. And Frieza cutting himself in half
@Michael Hewitt-Clarke But imagine if the whole tournament was only the last 10 episodes (expanded to that 5 hour length) with Jiren, Top, & Dyspo vs. Goku and friends. Then we'd be around the level of Frieza vs. Goku. And this isn't even considering all the fighting they do with Frieza's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd forms.
@@abexx8485 Touché ... everything I've seen from z until this movie was garbage, but I love it, I'm able to turn my brain off and enjoy it like a kid off of nostalgia alone, I don't expect everyone to share my view, i feel the same way about the following things The first 3 seasons of Jojo's all DC and Marvel universe films kick ass but all these things have talent put behind them that makes them amazing to behold
It was garbage tho.... the story was poor and don’t get me started on the writing. The fights are exactly like anyother db fight (literally throwing each other across the planet not much impact with any hit). What happened to all the other characters lola
Spoiler kinda. Frieza blows up namek in 5 mins= 10 episodes. 45 min tournament of power= 34 episodes Broly beats the shit out of frieza for a little over an hour= two 30 second clips. Oh dragon Ball...you're adorable.
All jokes aside as someone that kept playing it until 2 weeks ago it genuinely IS unplayable now due to the constant server crashing from people duping items so he wouldn't get THAT angry cos he wouldn't actually be able to play!
That goku vs Frieza fight was full of dialogue this was a fight with just broly fighting them, it's a great movie but the guy isnt wrong in his critique.
"Goku hates Broly because he cried....a lot....for like 2 hours" Vegeta: "That's so dumb! But he's so cool! But he is literally just a giant baby! UUGGGGHHHHHHHHHH"
@Pinkaugust Criticising Dragon Ball Super for not making sense is like criticizing SpongeBob for it's lack of deeper themes. Dragon Ball is Akira Toriyams pulling shit out of his ass to make cool fights and it's been that way for 20+ years. You know you're not going to get anything else, so calling it a disaster of a movie because it's lacking in things it's never cared about is silly.
@@fredy2041 the movie was too long which is why scenes were cyt from the movie. C'mon be honest everyone would enjoy the film but not many people would be thrilled to sit 2 hours or more in a sest with limited space. Not even sure what the maximum amount of film time is allowed to air but there's probably a limit to it.
You guys missed a few key points though from the movie. His dad wasn't just some nobody he was a ranked soldier in the saiyan army. He taught broly everything he needed to know about battle. The only thing broly was missing was actual combat experience against humanoid-like opponents. You can tell that by how much the fighting style actual differs between these 3 as Goku and Vegeta/Gogeta are using martial arts techniques while Broly just powers through. Plus Broly was born with great power and through him surviving on a basically baron wasteland of a planet (didn't even have water btw) was able to have the strength he began the fight with. As to Alex's gripe about Broly just screaming for 30 minutes, it was already explained that Broly was using the power boost from the Great Ape transformation without actually transforming into the Great Ape. In doing so, he basically lost all self awareness and his brain devolved to a primitive state where all he knows is ATTACK. I understand Alex's pov and I'm not saying he's wrong, but his pov is coming from somebody who hasn't watched either BOG or ROF or hardly any super so he doesn't understand how the movies and the show co-exist. Where the movie basically gives you fan service, the show will flesh out the story telling more because it has enough time to do so.... Keep in mind, this movie served it's purpose and that was to introduce Broly, everything else was just for entertainment.
what alex does not understand is that broly fights how whis wished goku and vegeta did. only on instinct without thinking. that together with his latent power is what makes him stronger than beerus
SPOILER WARNING: The fights in Dragon Ball Super: Broly aren't just fights. There's meaning behind these fights and for Alex to say that there was too much fighting because it was "30 minutes of nothing but him grunting and screaming" is bullshit. For example, just look at Broly's story with his friend and the emotion that went into that scene. Broly was originally introduced to Dragon Ball in the early 90s, but he wasn't canon. Everyone liked him, but he was just introduced as a brute character. He didn't speak much, and all he really said was "Kakarot" because all he wanted to do was kill Goku. In this new introduction, they made him canon and introduced a different side of the character. He was still a brute, but now he wasn't just a brute for the sake of it. Now, he was just an innocent child being manipulated by his father, who loved Broly but who also wanted his revenge. Broly didn't just fight for the sake of fighting. He fought because of his father and because it was all he knew how to do. He grew up in a desolate planet with nobody and he only had one friend. But, because of his father's pride and vengeful nature, he wouldn't allow Broly to be a child. This is a complete 180 from his initial introduction, and one that does him justice. Every single act that was taken in the movie shows a specific characteristic from each character. From Vegeta's saiyan pride by attempting to kill Broly for not being worthy; to Goku's peaceful nature by attempting to subdue him so that he wouldn't get killed; to Frieza being plain evil and just killing his father for his own gain. It wasn't just "fighting for 30 minutes." There was a lot more going on within the fights. The fights themselves told a story. There was meaning behind the fights and he clearly didn't understand this. I understand that he wanted more character development, but for him to say that it was just "30 minutes of grunting" is complete and utter bullshit because he clearly didn't understand the meaning behind the fights. For example, when he sees Vegeta fight Broly, all he'll see is Vegeta fighting Broly. Instead of seeing a prideful Saiyan Prince fighting what's supposed to be a legendary Saiyan. When the prideful prince doesn't deem the legend worthy, then he'll kill him for not being worthy of the race. It's a callback to Vegeta's prideful history, but of course, Alex won't see that, all he'll see is grunting and screaming.
I completely agree with you. When Goku tried to subdue him, his facial expression changed slightly which means Goku kind words reached him even though he lost control. There are a lot of nuances in the fight. I call it proprioception storytelling.
"I cant listen to him yell anymore" He is a berserk sayain... df you want him to sound like A proper speaking brit? "He could never go super sayain... then 5 minutes later he can" This guy didnt watch the movie there was an actual flash back (Not just a verbal reference but a visual flashback) of frieza remembering triggering a sayain will push them into this state. Im all for having a non Dbz fan reveiw the movie but at least get someone who pays attention to what they are watching before they actually review it. Hell if you really think about it... Broly has trained Way more than Goku, he was forced to fight by his father his whole life to survive where Goku had breaks in between and on top of that it was stated he is dangerous THIS is why he was sent off. P.S Did they really think Whis was threatened by broly? He was giggling the whole 7 seconds while dancing around him.
Yea whis wasn't threatened by broly hell most current dbs characters wouldn't be ui goku? No. Kaioken ssb goku? He would probably win too. Ssbe vegeta? Prolly not. Jiren? Hell no. Beerus? Nope. God of destruction toppo? Probably a good fight but no. Hit? Would be close could go either way.
I just hope the Dragon Ball community has the same energy for Broly as they did for Kale and Caulifla their hate was unjustified especially seeing all the things that happened before they were introduced and were fine with
@@Kincaidu Because she's cool, caring at times with a mean streak , and not to mention the first canon female SSJ. If people hate her so much, they should hate OG Broly just as much.
I....kind of don't get the "too many fights" thing. To me, that's like going to wrestlemania and then complaining afterwards "There was too much wrestling!". I mean, you watrch a battle anime for the battles! If you really want something to focus on character development...go see a drama.
I remember during the fight scenes I was like “this has been like 30 minutes hurry it up”. Needed more story or at least made the fights more interesting, maybe with freeza teaming up with Goku again to handle Broly or some shit
he is completely clueless about the show... 30 minutes? ever watched the "5 minutes" of namek explosion? That's the number one thing why people like DB - a shitton of screaming, pure power and amazing fights dragging on for like fucking ever
@Zulhazwan Hamzah One dislike for being a degenerate. You're missing the point. The fights are a STORY because the SERIES IS FOCUSED PRIMARILY on ACTION. How many degenerates can I whack in this comment section? Probably too many to count.
I dont think there will be a sequel not a movie sequel I mean this plot will be redone for the show when it returns then the sequel will be what ever happens next.
But they literally said in the movie the reason why Broly was the way that he was, was because the power of the Great Ape made him go berserk without turning into the ape.
@@xSkye629x the Oozaru form was never anything close to the power boost Broly got. Its basically like a kaioken x 20. Its not supposed to push you all the way to ssg level from base. Otherwise the oozarus would've overthrown frieza on a full moon. Maybe if its stated sometime later in the show that Oozaru can achieve god level, then fine. But as for now it doesnt.
These guys are so clueless lol 1) original broly’s motivation for having hatred was that goku cried next to him as a baby. 2) new Broly is a a genetic freak, a mutant with latent abilities far beyond any normal saiyan. 3) Broly fought these monsters every single day. Was forced to train by his father EVERYDAY. So he was a genetic mutant that trained everyday for damn near 40 years before arriving on earth. Not even goku trains everyday. 4) new Broly was went super saiyan not because he was so pissed because goku cried next to him as a baby, but because his father was murdered. The lore of the saiyans has always been that there is a legendary super saiyan. Broly is that legend. What use would it have been that Broly comes into the fold as the legendary super saiyan only to get stomped into oblivion by goku. This isn’t a situation like Rey from Star Wars where the established lore contradicts how unreasonably powerful the character is. Broly is only very strong, he doesn’t know how to use his power. I don’t get how you can dislike Broly randomly showing up and beating the two most powerful fighters, when in the original version he stomped ALL of the z-fighters easily. In this version he gets his ass kicked multiple times by goku and vegeta and the completely shit stomped by gogeta.
Hey, hold up. Did you really claim that Goku, the guy who abandoned his family for years at a time to train, doesn't train every day? You're trolling right?
Original Broly was a genetic freak too, the only difference is that he was exiled while in the original film King Vegeta had him "executed". After his sentence was carried out he whisked Paragus away and trained for years until it became apparent that he will lose control so Paragus put the crown on him to keep him under control. Personality wise the original was an unstoppable killing machine while this Broly is a soft kind hearted man who is forced to fight. Truthfully I like the original more than this one. Like everyone else I'm not a fan of the whole crying Kakarot trope but everything else was great in the original. I don't like how they're trying to humanize the Sayains in Super I wish they would keep them as they were in Z. Having them remaining blood thirsty mercenaries is what made Goku special. And the end of the original, Broly didn't die. The Z Warriors gathered all their energy into Goku and he punched the legendary out of Broly. He survived the comet destroying his planet and makes his way to Earth 7 years later to imitate another glorious round of asswhoopings.
8:16 That's where I call bull shit. Goku did the same thing. and before people bring up. Oh, Goku trained his whole life SO DID BROLY. They straight up said that he trained most of his life and didnt even have any friends because his dad made him train. If you really want to think about it. he trained even more than Goku ,because Goku at least had some down time and have fun with his friends. But broly trained non stop for 40 years
Tru I think if they acknowledged the whole Legendary Super Saiyan concept in the movie instead of implying it, it would be easier to understand how things like instant transmission and Super Saiyan just seemingly came naturally to Broly while fighting.
@@aurawolf664 ...Broly never used Instant Transmission. It's a common trope in Dragon Ball that characters can simply move faster than the eye can see and it makes it appear as if they're teleporting around, it happens all the time. And he had a super high base power level and watched his father, one of the only people he had any connection with, die in front of him. That's pretty much how Goku became a Super Saiyan, have a high power level and get super pissed off.
He trained more than Goku but Goku also fought way more powerful opponents than Broly ever has. A Saiyan's strength comes from the fact that the more battle experience they have and the closer they come to death the stronger they become. We see it with Vegeta when he drastically powers up twice on planet Namek. Goku also had access to better tech/bullshit to aid his training like the 100X gravity machine, the time chamber, and even had a godlike being as a training instructor. Broly's whole deal is he has an insane latent power inside of him and is able to use all the strength of the great ape in his human form even though he loses control of himself. It was actually a new form that I called Super great ape saiyan since we see his eyes turn gold. He was so used to fighting like that his body was able to actual retain knowledge on his opponent and learn on the fly to adapt and even power himself up to match his opponent's strength. I fucking loved this movie. I thought it had the biggest budget out of any other dragonball film and it showed. It is my favorite dragonball film so far and I love the first Broly film. Broly was kind of a dumb villain in the original but we get to see some real character development and motivations with him and his father. It is a totally different version of the character and one I am welcome to see as part of the canon in dragonball super.
(Spoilers, I think?) I'm sorry, I just need to say that the movie went out of its way to explain your biggest problems. Why Broly was so strong and why during moments in the fight he was winning against Vegeta and Goku. Sure, he doesn't have the same kind of training as Vegeta and Goku, but Vegeta explicitly says, it's even in the trailer, Broly's learning as he fights. Broly power is so powerful because he's tapping into the power of the Saiyan ape without needing to transform. Also Alex, Broly was losing to Goku, that's why Frieza forced the super saiyan form out of Broly. It wasn't like all of that was vague in the movie, they went went out of their way to make it obvious, guess it wasn't obvious enough? Also, I get what Joe means by adding more legendary super saiyan lore, but the film doesn't need to. This is not the DBZ film Broly: The legendary Super Saiyan.
Finally, someone who knows how to fucking watch & listen at the same time. I’m so glad the “Legendary Super Saiyan” bit was done away with. It was so stupid, considering they were ALL considered “the Legendary Super Saiyan” considering it was a legend to the current saiyans prior to Goku transforming. Even now though, people are still holding onto the Legendary Super Saiyan form & it’s just annoying 🙄 like did you not listen? Did you not pay attention?
Also, legendary super saiyan in canon is literally just going SSJ for the first time. So the idea of the "Legendary Super Saiyan" is no longer the same as it was in older movies, they've gone so far beyond the legend that it'd be irrelevant to them.
Toonami, you can watch every day for a week and both fighters will still be powering up. Toonami is why I don't like DBZ, too much filler and not enough plot per episode. The movies don't have the same issues and are far more enjoyable.
I do not like this guy in the red shirt at all the whole point of dragon ball is story and long ass fights wtf is wrong with this dude he is not a fan if he said that the fight is pointlessly long fuck off man.
I loved it, but I have one downside: it felt short for how good this movie is. I would've had no problem if the movie was 3 hours long, like it was originally intended. But they'll continue the story through the shows, obviously.
@@extremelyboredtatsumaki.495 Yeah, that failed. It just looked bad. Let's not excuse it. It was on par with the first Goku vs Beerus from Super. That doesn't mean the movie sucks. It was still great. But that scene was bad.
This movie was Absolutely perfect..These Fight scenes legitimately gave me goosebumps..Absolutely amazing movie, And I actually started sympathizing with broly...
This movie action was great. The story and plot is absolute trash and straight up pandering. Toriyama most def has Alzheimer’s because this is not the DBZ I grew up with
@@itza8334 THat's the idea. The dragon Ball you grew with, I grew with, and we all grew with wouldn't work just like it did in the 90's. The world of manga and anime evolved and so has to do Dragon Ball. IF the show never ended and kept going, it could have worked, but no. The show stopped and other manga/anime showed how that formula could have been improved. Period.
@@itza8334 bro how is it trash… it’s paper thin like it’s supposed to for a character like Broly… it’s not a Shakespearean piece. Have you seen the original Broly movie? This one’s even better and people love the original
@@spyroschristoulakis6296 There was a Japanese TV interview with the director, Tatsuya Nagamine. If you google it, you can find translations. If you're too lazy, here's the relevant part. With the exception of action scenes, we’re adapting his screenplay pretty much as-is. However, though we want to be as faithful to it as possible, unfortunately the allotted run time is short. When we first made storyboards for the entire screenplay, a movie that was supposed to only be 90 minutes turned out to be double that length.1 Enough for two whole movies (laughs). Trying to forcefully condense that much content together would make it feel like a clip show, which would be boring, so I consulted with the producers and everyone else involved to whittle down the scenes and make it the proper length. We’re adamant about delivering as much of Toriyama’s script to viewers as possible, so we were able to extend the run time a little bit.
@@mrSlicenDice A higher standard implies something meets that standard: how many movies have better 2d/cgi integration than this? I'm sure there are some but how many?

"The fight was too long" "Hes just all of the sudden super saiyan" Uhhh.... he is bested throughout the "drawn out fight" until he is pushed into becoming a super saiyan, which is where he actually gains the upper hand. Also, broly is not introduced as a nobody in the slightest. The enti re reason he was outcast was necause of his latent potential. The whole movie he is portrayed as this uncontrollable beast, so it's not unearned when he breaks through his ceiling.
And he wasn't just all of a sudden a super Saiyan, he literally saw his father dead and you become the super Saiyan from a HUGE amount of rage like seeing a loved one killed.
Wait, why doesnt Vegeta know what a Fusion is if his son, Trunks always fuses with Goten to make Gotenks. Do I have my timeline all messed up? Sure Janemba might not be official canon, but surely the Buu Saga was right? Is that a plot hole?
On the subject of Broly learning quickly. Goku did the same in dragonball. He learned the kamahamaha after only seeing it one time from Master Roschi. It's kinda canon that Saiyans instinctually learn stuff quickly.
Vegeta learned how to sense ki, just by fighting/watching the Zfighters. Pretty sure it's just a plot tool, but at the very least its hella consistent.
Okay Alex clearly needs to go back and watch Dragon Ball Z because has he seen how long their fights have been?! He's complaining about a movie that had 30 minutes of fighting when literally we had Goku vs. Frieza, the longest anime fight in history! Plus the way Broly caught up to Goku and Vegeta was way more realistic than the powerscaling with Kale and Caulifla, and how they somehow were able to compete with Goku! Broly was getting knocked back by Goku and Vegeta, but because of his incredible, increasing power level, he was able to learn and grow as he kept fighting! And his Super Saiyan transformation was earned because he raged after seeing his dad die! Rage triggers the Super Saiyan transformation! Go ahead and talk about how Broly's power was unearned because of how little time it took for him to get so strong, but at least they actually did take some time developing his power! It was shown in the backstory and fighting! With Kale and Caulifla however, they took no time whatsoever developing their power! For the Super Saiyan transformation, rage was replaced with tingle in backs, and despite no understanding of what kind of training they went through, they somehow were able to compete with God Saiyans!
Dude.. Honestly, I don't agree with you on the Kale and Caulifla part. U6 Saiyans are naturally strong and have more potential than U7 Saiyans. Them catch up in the tournament was realistic. Plus, them somewhat and almost overpowering Kakarot was simply 2 reason. Reason #1 and the biggest reason was that he was in a weakened state. Fighting on low energy. Base Kakarot fought off a ssj Caulifla. In a weakened stare mind you not. Yeah he was doing good against them but he was still weakened. So it's understandable that they could stand against him. Kakarot was the one with the absurd power boost. He went from Being Ssb against Kale their first fight to ssj2 in a weakened state with an even stronger Kale and holding his own against two saiyans. So honestly, the shit with Kale and Caulifla was very reasonable. Was in a weakened state going against their fusion Also. If he was back up to full power, he would've shat on them. Literally.
@@Cloudx0x when you heard that u6 sayain are stronger? Because i follow one of the biggest fan in france( yes im french) and he speak japanese! And he said power scaling of kale and the other are broken! " but masako said" yes he said but it was a THEORIE!!! Like a guess! Or a non official explanation!
Broly in the first half of the film was set up to be a prodigy among prodigies. Because of this, I was ok with broly catching up to goku and vegeta so quickly since you can see broly getting beat up first, but then adapting which goes along with what they had set up. Had they not set up that broly was extremely overpowered, it would have been a lot more of an asspull had they not set it up, but with it, it's fine for me. Also, when broly has black hair with golden eyes is when he has a x10 multiplier and when he actually turns super saiyan, the multiplier stacks and gives broly a x500 multiplier from base at the very least. Throughout the film he keeps getting even stronger from rage so its believable that he could match up with God level opponents.
Yeah, that was my only gripe with the film, even before getting in. Goku and Vegeta had to train with actually gods for quite a while to gain SS Blue and Broly comes from playing around with a bunch of monsters and rivals that power no problem? I guess that's Vegeta's and Goku's fault for not going all out right off the bat and ending it, lol.
@@jase276 Thats basically that problem db has, powerscaling is never reasonable after Super as all characters basically have to match an unreasonable amount of power and they dont seem to be making any villians like buu who had tricks to match stronger opponents.
ALEX UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE CONCEPT AS TO WHY BROLY IS SO POWERFUL IS EXPLAINED IN THE MOVIE!!!!! HE CAN HARNESS THE POWER OF THE OOZARU FORM WHILE MAINTAINING HIS HUMANOID FORM! WHICH IS WHY HE WAS ABLE TO ADAPT SO QUICK!
Broly was a freak of nature. His power, Its un earned because he was born that strong. He had a monster powerlevel at birth. -spoiler bellow- Broly went even further, out of control and gaining a monster power boost after Frieza killed his dad. It made sense to me. Brolys power is untapped and raw. He still doesnt know what he’s doing in the way Goku and Vegeta do.
shh Broly fanboys dont like Logic. :D But i am on your side.. Brolys Power and combat prowess was bullshit.. 2 Martial Art geniuses vs someone who never had a real fighter to train with. Fuck ya @SusBusGaming
SusBusGaming I mean you could tell Goku and Vegeta weren’t fighting like in ToP, it just seemed like they were testing Broly’s limits while also getting their asses kicked at the start.
They made it clear that he had more LATENT energy than goku and vegeta so that’s why he had such an edge over them, so it doesn’t really matter how much they have trained... THATS THE WHOLE POINT OF BROLY
Also it's been shown that as a fight goes on that their fighting skills can improve and someone who was giving them trouble earlier in a fight they can start to match.
it was the whole point of gohan too if i remember. while peple, and akira toiyama himself, make parallels betewen goku and broly, there is more between gohan and broly. they likely have the same kind of untapped power but broly is more likely to unleash it
nah the point of broly is the hype. we bearly knew anything about broly but after a quick tantrum he goes from super sayian to god level just cause. at least the old broly movie established the threat of his character before the fight. this broly's power seems to be driven purely by plot similar to kale.
I also argue that Broly being this powerful isn't unearned. The character itself was written as a prodigy so powerful that King Vegeta was like "uhh.. no." and on top of that he grows up on this desert planet. That isn't just Tarzan. That is Conan. He's probably been fighting for his actual survival every single day for thirty years or something. I totally buy a legendary Saiyan prodigy being raised in fucking squalor on a shitty rock planet being a serious menace. The kid has no fighting style, but he has raw and unbridled Oozaru power pretty much constantly throughout the fight. He's not just going SSJ or even LSSJ. He's souped up by Oozaru aka the thing so dangerous that Vegeta and Goku willingly removed their tails so they wouldn't turn into giant monster apes. That form is POWERFUL. So you've got an immensely powerful ape form combined with being a legendary prodigy AND you lived your entire life on a shit planet AND you are just going all-out rage mode with no thought in your head? Yeah you're gonna pummel somebody like Goku even at his highest form. And the series itself even delivers a nice insight why that is. Oozaru doesn't think. Oozaru acts on instinct in fights like an animal, but it's giant and clumsy. This is Oozaru but small and he doesn't think, but he relies on his instinct. Yeah, that kind of power can be compared to Ultra Instinct in my eyes. Ultra Instinct's main benefit is after all that you stop THINKING about your moves and you just do them. That's the reason why Goku is so silent as UI Goku against Jiren. He doesn't shit talk, he rarely grunts, he is fully concentrated and basically flows into the fight with no thought and just pure instinct. Oozaru is that, but it's also giant and clumsy and destructive and mad. But Broly manages to leave out the giant and clumsy part.
yeah but Ultra Instinct is to much for Broly...its amaizing that hes stronger than ssj blue...now if Broly goes ssj blue then his opponents better bring an extra pair of underware to the fight
I feel as if this guy didnt pay attention. Like broly wasnt some nobody, he was already born powerful. The whole point is that his power would drive him mad, because of how it built up so quickly. Add the fact he wasnt ever civilized. Was used by his dad to be a tool for his revenge, who kept giving him shock therapy, traumatizing him. And his ascension in power made sense. Its not that hes way more powerful than goku cause well goku still had ultra instinct Its more that they could not put broly down, even by the end where they completely kick his ass, he just kept getting more powerful, he just had no limit, but eventually he was just outmatched like how hulk was vs thanos, all that power wont protect him forever. Which is why broly loses in the end had the dragonballs not saved him
BuggersTV I don’t think he tried to go UI, I think breaking through Broly’s power that was encapsulating him nearly made him go into it. However he doesn’t remember how to use UI, if you’ll remember the final episode of super he says he can’t use it anymore. If Goku used that ssb kaioken Broky might’ve gotten his cheeks slapped. Then again gogeta had to use ssb so probably not.
@@absolutelynologic8099 oh I thought I saw something when he was turning blue cause his eyes were going grey and dark aura and shit was erupting around him but he couldn't get there again so he went blue if he went blue kaioken broke would've went ssj4 with all those zenkai boosts lol
I'm a fan boy also but damn it's crazy how much people are giving this a major pass.. there was plenty of bad cgi and animation and background moments still good animation but plenty of wtf this is cheap animation looking.. and don't say there wasn't every while I noticed a few bad moments
daniel cheyne The only time there was “bad” 2D animation was during funny scenes for a comical effect, like when Vegeta is mimicking the fusion dance, or characters that are very far and not in the center of the screen, you clown.

Broly is a barbarian he wasn't beating them using high-level martial arts he was simply overpowering them. He was using a lot of Stomps and throws and clothes lines not one for the using high-level martial arts in the movie. If he actually trained in martial arts Broly would have likely won the fight.
tbh idk. Vegeta told even said that he was learning as he fought. Broly has INSANE potential because of that. True, if Broly knew how to truly fight he woulda prob wiped them both alot faster but Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta? Idk man. That form, now that fucking gogeta is canon, is kinda retarded strong. Defeating a fully powered legendary super saiyan that had that type of power? And STILL not even going all out? We'll prob see it in the future tho that now Broly may be able to turn into a good guy. If he can control that form then its very possible.
@@alstroker878 he's not just sheer power. He was learning as they fought through insanely high intuition. Broly was more fleshed out as a character and not a one note guy. Saiyan culture was more fleshed out too. Broly and bardock are finally canon. Frieza thing made it fun and in line with his experiences. Broly still the legendary saiyan so things can be explained with that and living on a hellish planet. SSG was a thing before this movie. I don't think broly will totally be a good guy, foreshadowed frieza will try to manipulate him again. Yeah maybe vegeta should have cared about his father more but I don't think he cared about anyone except himself till he met bulma and started a family. Anyway, this isn't a debate, rather just an exchange of opinions. Hopefully you can still enjoy the db world after this.
@Pinkaugust i said i agree vegeta should have cared, he was a kid at the moment and didn't know they were killed by frieza yet. They were told it was an asteroid so no avenging needed yet. Also I don't prefer super to db or dbz, I just enjoyed this movie. Whining about a character not being exactly like a non canon version is useless. They only made minor changes to broly. We can agree to disagree, but don't come off like I'm no fan or don't get the characters.
To give a fair counterpoint to Alex. Broly didn't beat Goku and Vegeta because of training or needing training. He isn't a better fighter than them, not at any point whatsoever during the film. Broly was BORN stronger and with greater potential than anyone. The film adresses that. That also means, because transformations are multipliers, that if his base is stronger, his transformed power will be too. Broly beat Goku and Vegeta with raw strength, not technique. And i think that the movie actually portrays that VERY well. Broly runs around, throws goku into the environment, throws punches and energy balls wildly. It's the kind of fighting a berserker WOULD do. Doesn't matter if goku and vegeta have better technique if those don't harm Broly.
I hope you people stop shitting on Kale and Caulfla. Both of them had a fuck ton more fighting experience than Broly but here I see everyone making excuses for Broly a dude who never got into a real fight and punked God Goku
@@DragonoftheDarknessFlame so he gets more props, cale is product placement and caulifla is annoying, cabba learned ssj first and for no reason at all the both of them shits on him. It's stupid.
@@captaincap4931 Nah keep that same energy for Broly baised ass Dragon Ball community.. Literally in the first real Super arc they said U6 and U7 are not only mirrors but U6 saiyans were stronger at their point compared to U7 meaning naturally Caulfla and Kale would be strong but they weren't as strong as Broly and they have combat experience. Also Cabba is more akin to Vegeta, Caulifla is more akin to Goku, and Kale is more akin to Broly and Caulifla was established as a protege from the jump. You people had 0 issues with Trunks and Goten turning SSJ or any of the bullshit in Super but as soon as 2 female saiyans step on the scene you people start REEEEing about them
@@DragonoftheDarknessFlame that's not the point, and never was it stated U6 saiyans were stronger so throw that fucking head cannon nonsense in the trash, I said it was fucking retarded how cabba got it first, and they fucking fly past him by going lssj and ssj2 , nobody's talking about them being females, I was hyped until I realized they were fucking annoying so foh.
they had more experience but at no point was kale noted as a prodigy. she wasnt born with some obsurd power level at birth like broly was this being one of the key aspects of brolys lore, is he was born with something like a 10,000 power level. BORN stronger then goku's base form was during his first fight vs vegeta. were as kale is shown in the anime (not the manga) as a emotionally frail girl who somehow becomes female broly out of literaly know where. and caulfla just gains super saiyan from nothing. i liked there characters in the actual tourny of power. her getting stronger as she fought goku but eventually capping out to the point she had to fuse because he was just that much more experienced was really good. but she turned super sayian the first time simply because she wanted too..which made no sense in a universe that hasnt seen super saiyans seemingly ever. if they had simply gone the "i already knew how to go super saiyan" route id think most people wouldnt look down on her. but they trivialized the transformation MORE then goten and trunks did (because atleast they had parents who became super saiyans or were at the time). then they turned kale into OP god mode (which she mastered in less then 20 minutes in universe...despite not being shown as being a prodigy or a genius fighter) broly at the very least explains his power more, hes the prodigy of prodigys. hes bascially another goku but born as a ultra high class warrior broly is what goku would of been had he been born stronger. which is logical kale and caulfla dont really have any of that in super. theyre introduced quickly to push the story along caulfla is refered to as a genius, but kale (the actual female broly) just so happend to be super strong. yet she masters her rage form in less time then it took goku to master ultra instinct. with goku hes been shown that hes expectional, time and time again. theres alot of story to prove this. yet kale, was shown as being frail and afraid. i mean she turned super saiyan simply because she felt useless (not a bad reason tbh, better then Caulfla) yet she masters this rage form. by magic i guess all of this being said, fighting experience =/= power. kale and caulfla def had more fighting experience then broly (somthings better then nothing), neither of them really had that much this is why goku was able to take on both K and C despite the massive power difference. (also cabba is introduced as one of if not THE best saiyans in universe 6...then they go on to show caulfla is far better. so why didnt beerus's brother take HER instead of cabba to the U6 vs U7 tourny.)
I was genuinely shocked how much they actually made Broly a character and spent a decent amount of time building the lore/confirming certain plot points by making it canon. I'm glad they actually made Broly's backstory good because as much as I love old Broly his original origin was pretty stupid let's be honest. My biggest gripes with it are the CG shots (some look REALLY bad) because it clashes with the beautiful art direction and animation. Solid DBZ movie, easily one of the best
His backstory was kinda wasted though, because literally the entire second half of the film he lost his mind anyways. He may as well have been yelling Kakarot or Vegeta. Say what you want about the original, but at least the old Broly had a REAL personality. He made jokes, he taunted the Z warriors, and more importantly, HE KEPT HIS MIND. This Broly learns that water is wet and has a pet friend with a wild animal, then he's gone. And while his backstory wasn't that good, it kinda works. The super saiyan form was supposed to be fueled by ANGER. Goku's constant crying was a great catalyst for that. Hell, grown adults today that are parents to a newborn sorta lose their minds a little, too. You ever been kept up way past 3 am looking after your screeching, new baby child? You lose your mind, too, after a while.
@@jase276 well they wanted to make broly way more sympathetic so "I'm a battered lonely soft kid in an extremely unstable angry adult body" is much better than his original backstory. Him losing his mind was a much better reason for him wanting to hurt vegeta and goku or literally anyone around him then being a petty asshole from a memory most kids/babies wouldn't realisticly remember
I like the fact that Broly is actually angry at Vegeta and not Goku, cause for once Vegeta gets the spot light when it comes to who the enemy is targeting, I also like the fact that he's not even a "villain" in this movie, he's just a misunderstood Saiyan who wants to fight, like every other Saiyan in existence, and mostly the reason he was fighting was because of his father anyways, so it wasn't even really his fault
He was fairly misunderstood in the first and the product of the treatment he received. So its understandable why he wanted to grt them and lost his shit. Some people you cant do anything more to try to help
In the old Broly movie, the only thing that Broly hate about Kakarot is because Goku was crying so loud beside Broly and Broly hates it that is why Broly remembers Goku back then.
He's not a DB fan, and he raised some good objective points. I have, as a DB fan, absolutely loved the movie, but when you aren't into the universe and just see the movie as a standalone it does have it's problems. Not deal breakers, but still problems. He provided a voice needed in a video like this, so it isn't just a fanboy wank fest.
He is critiquing the movie from an unbiased stand point and he does say he has seen the og dragon ball and z. Even if you are a fan you can still see the movies short coming Alex is right, the movie could use more story and more development for Broly however I don't agree with him that the movie could use less action that's what Dragon ball excels at and after many lackluster fights in super 30 minutes of almost no intervention for explaining something that the viewer is already seeing. He did however overlook in the first 10 minutes of the movie they explain how Broly's power was like some sort of mutation and even referenced he might be the Super Saiyan of legend and that most of the time people weren't looking down on Broly they were all saying that he had incredible power potential so he did have his few errors from the context of the movie.
Broly isnt strong because the plot needs him to be. The story gives you all the clues that you have to put together to understand how Broly is so strong. In the beginning Broly’s power level was a little over 10,000 but fluctuated depending on his mood, raising higher the angrier he got. Then on planet vampa it’s stated that Broly had to go great ape to kill the spider things. For Saiyans, going great ape gives them a 10x multiplier, which on average for Broly is 100,000 unless it was raised higher due to his anger. And that was the only way to kill them which makes the spiders power level around 50,000-80,000. Then they show you the weasel dog things are stronger than they are cuz they are nothing but food to them making their power level stronger than them. And Broly was training with them and learning how to fight humans with his father. Also the fights weren’t long for no reason either. They were to show the audience how strong Broly’s base power is and showcase the new techniques goku and vegeta learned. Then when Broly starts raging out he gets this green aura that they said is Broly tapping into the great apes power, which only Broly can do (possibly because he’s like an animal already) Which gives him the x10 multiplier edging him over vegeta, who was not saving his energy (which is why he asked for a sensu bean) Then goku does goku shenanigans and shows his ki binding technique to try and calm Broly. But he messed up because as was shown previously Broly loves his father and does what he says and doesn’t let anyone bad mouth him. So when goku says “you don’t have to listen to him” Broly snaps again and brought his power even higher and hulk smashed goku. Next big thing is Broly going super saiyan. It’s not a cheat because when freeza was thinking of when goku turned super saiyan, it showed that blowing up krillin pushed goku off the deep end enabling him to go super saiyan. So he kills paragis hoping that Broly cared enough for it to work... and it did. Now again you may be wondering that even if Broly turning super saiyan wasn’t some cheat, then how come he still bodies goku, vegeta, and freeza? The answer is that Broly’s base power is as strong as super saiyan vegeta and only gets bigger the angrier he gets, then you add the x10 multiplier that made him stronger than god vegeta (which is its first debut in the anime btw so it also had reason to be in the film). After that you stack the x50 multiplier from super saiyan and Broly’s base get a whopping x500 multiplier. (Yes they can stack because kaioken blue is stacked) This is why Broly is so god damn strong. Feel free to rewatch the film to see these points (also gogeta is a movie character that also gets canonized in this film)
@@957kakashi exactly I noticed that shit he was surviving his whole life not having friends. He was staying alive with his dad. He has a survival instinct Alex must have fell asleep during the movie.
@@serge2cool The old goat clearly underestimated Broly, I feel that had Broly been left there alone he would've ended up like how the legendary super saiyan did according to Vegeta, destroying the planet he lives on along with himself.
He was only garbage from a critic standpoint though. We can all agree that there was no character development or even a good enough reason to why he hated goku. HOWEVER, Broly was not garbage. He was such a badass that he carried the movie (besides the trash ending of the fight) and had me and my friends as a kid love it.
taylor kxng he sure was a badass but this new Broly is very relatable and can join Z fighters as well in my opinion. Not only that, three hours of script was reduced to 1 hour 40 mins so there was more to Broly which had to be cut down.
Old Broly was a basic, plank of a villain. In a world of unique and interesting villains, Broly is just generic by comparison. Which is why Super Broly is better, they went beyond making him a "villain of the week" character.
The original Akira Toriyama script is 3 hours long. Its rumored if the show returns and they re-tell the broly movie in tv form they might use the 3 hour script.
I'm sorry Joe, but your guest speaker on this review couldn't have been more wrong on so many levels! This movie was superb, I haven't felt this much joy watching a Dragon Ball film in a long time. The intense action blew my socks off, it represented all the characters in great fashion it had good laughs in the animation really created an atmosphere of terrifying power, where you could feel it through the screen. I loved it, so I agree with the Joe's here on this one.
Alex is not new. Probably for the anime reviews. Alex is part of the 3 bro. And it’s his critic side that he’s complaining about. It’s a good movie but he says as a non-dbz fan he found nic pics about the movie AND THERES NOTHING WRONG with that. He’s a critic whereas you’re a fan
u have zero counter arguments to back up your claim. i have to say why his corticisms are invalid, or explain that u didn’t think the flaws were enough to hurt the movie at all for u
Broly is the child of destiny, the chosen one. If he grew up with the Saiyans, freeza and beerus would have been killed. Their scheming to prevent this was countered by Vegeta's exiling of him, which saved him. Goku was basically the backup child of destiny, who never would have went to earth, fight freeza and become a super Saiyan.
Something I think you missed Joe; The nuances in each super saiyan form fighting style. They're all slightly different in the way Vegeta and Goku fight. Some of it is down to the fact there always initially much more powerful than Broly when transformed but Broly swiftly catches up. They start to struggle and transform further. There's a larger difference in SSG though. Both Vegeta and especially Goku seem MUCH more composed. Think Neo at the end of the first Matrix movie. It looked like Goku was doing Tai-chi.. like a more peaceful enlightenined fighting style. I loved this element and I don't think it got enough credit.
This is first time in my country(Bangladesh) they realsed an anime movie in theater and I am so grateful to be able to watch a dragon ball movie in theater.(I am a huge dragon Ball fan)

if it becomes a series i hope they don't bother remaking the broly arc here. just have the movie be an introduction. one of super's biggest mistakes was wasting time going over the same plotpoints that the movie already established.
Tad Dad I would have to respectfully disagree with some points. As the comment above mentions Toriyama’s original script was three hours long and the beginning of Broly’s backstory was a little jagged with many odd cuts. An extended Anime retelling would actually be beneficial to see the entirety of Toryiama’s script but also allow for the Dragon Ball Super Manga to get further ahead. The only issue Super had was its poor scheduling and Pre-production if this is fixed with a proper schedule and production, along with animation friendly character designs we now have. A Broly retelling will actually be enjoyable.
+ + + to that @Tad Dad! I literally almost stopped watching after 30 episodes RE-TELLING the fucking movie a lot of us had seen already (those movies are the only damn things on Netflix, IDK why).
@@luisavalos4415 TBH, your point is fair also, but if they drag it out too long, then it wastes it's impact. The Netflix movies were only about 1.3 or 1.4 hours long. They DRAGGED it into almost 20 episodes, which is nearly 7 hours. This is why we complained. If the original script is 3-3.5hours long, the most I'd really want it dragged out into is something like 4.5 hours before we continue the story. Broly's story is one I've felt fans have wanted more of (as he was THE legendary Saiyan needing more background) for a long time so it's not quite as bad to drag it out, but bear in mind, even FRIEZA'S arc dragged a bit at the beginning. For Battle of Gods and Frieza, that sort of applies to them together.
Dogfartface I agree with over expanding scripts would lead too less of an impact but to this I have to say the Battle Of Gods script was roughly near the same amount of time as the Broly script and they only resulted in a 13 episode Arc with filler immediately after. I’m confident that the same will be applied too the Broly Arc as well.
"We had 30 minutes of him grunting and screaming. That's all he did the entire movie." Yeah I'm call that a fat load of bull coming from Alex. Broly did not just grunt and scream, his character was developed, showed how he thought, felt, and saw the world. He's one of the top characters who's had the most development development in the whole franchise. We don't see Broly as just some muscle bound meathead that screams a lot, we see a human side to him, this poor boy who's gentle at heart but forced into becoming a living weapon, someone who wields unimaginable power but has such difficulty controlling it, someone who struggles with his personal demons, we see him as a real character.
@@chrismanager9615 Well well well, here's someone that didn't watch the movie, want to join the conversation and made himself looked like a fool. They changed the origin of Broly in this movie lmao
But that is all that he did. He always lost his mind thanks to the whole great ape bs. After the fight began, his personality was gone. The old Broly had a personality, too. Everyone is so quick to dismiss it. But, the old Broly cracked jokes, he mocked the Z fighters, and was a cruel bastard. And HE, at least, kept his MIND. And, It was sooo refreshing seeing someone absolutely destroy the Z fighters with minimal effort. That being said, I hope they'll have him in the series, which I'm assuming they will, so they can flesh him out more.
Its sad, cause you can see Angryjoe and Otherjoe are fans and tbh to critic Dragonball I feel it's need but Alex just seems to be looking at flaws. Untrained, that first 30 minutes and 30 minute fight spent the entire time explaining why broly can keep up to SSG or SSB. And to add Broly has spent 40 years fighting for survival. Bad CG? Baki the New series, Beserk 2016... Take your pick Alex go watch one of those fights and tell me DBS Broly animation is bad. Nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking is such an annoying trait, and Alex seems to embodying the belief of 'Oh this movie was so good. But it's animation sucked...' like he has to pick something because you cant just enjoy it. The joes response was my own 'Da fuck are you talking about?' Maybe im to much a fanboy from something so attached to my childhood but if you review a movie you cannot just argue for the sake of arguing, especially when everyone in the room is fighting you on your 'Criticisms'
They didnt explain anything as to why broly could keep up with them. They just used bs logic in saying "oh he is learning while he fights". That isnt a real thing. I cant put someone with no fighting experience in a ring with a pro fighter and expect them to just learn on the go while they get their face beaten in. Also, he was fighting literal bugs for survival. Goku and vegeta could have easily done that as well, hell radditz could have done that. KRILLEN could have fought those bugs off. Are you telling me that if krillen gets really mad and fights with goku he could surpass the power of a god? "oh but krillen isnt a saiyan" it doesnt matter. Your logic doesnt make sense and neither does the movies. Dragonball hasnt made sense when it comes to a characters power probably since the namek saga in dragonball z. It is just how dragonball is. That being said, the movie was good. But that does not excuse it from obvious criticism. Oh and certain parts of the animation were bad. The cgi ships were unnecessary, the cgi scene with goku and vegeta both firing their attacks in the middle of the fight looked really bad, and please look up the scene where goku and vegeta were learning the fusion dance. There are parts where they are so horribly drawn its actually comedy. I think the thing they put the most effort into drawing was that little green girls ass, because it was literally covering 60% of the screen for the majority of her screen time.
Right here I go again because it's annoying me how dumb people are... stop saying look at these anime and say bad cgi because who gives a shit when at times animation in broly looked bad... people really can't fucking get over the fact there's a good few scenes with bad animation and iffy cgi... STOP THINKING HE'S SAYING THE WHOLE THING LOOKED BAD!
Patrick Sheehan actually to be fair they do say in movie specifically that broly summoned the power of the great ape before he went super saiyan that’s when his eyes went yellow and he started to go berserk which makes a lot of sense for why he didn’t actually turn into one because he lost his tail
Right so SSB and SSG forms are a joke cause some random sayain can appear out of no where to destroy these forms like they are nothing. Your making a mockery off this series by accepting that.
I actually agree a little bit. It was so nice seeing the characters and getting some story, that the extra long fights felt a little too long. Just because I wanted more of the world lol.
@@microblast3700 The fights were insane. However, like I said, I was enjoying the stories and other characters so much that I wish there was more time spent on that. I wouldnt have cared about the long fights if the movie was longer too.
That ending send off with AJ kinda hinting about something and the way Alex was looking at him... Gets me thinking if we'll about to see more of the future board game there developing later.
The Universal Fighting System! Set 1 was Street fighter, I forgot what set 2 was supposed to be, but set 3 was DB; I'm thinking they moved DB to set 2 and we will see it very soon
Broly lived his whole life in a dead inhospitable planet that not even plants grow on, his power comes from survival, his instinct to survive and his saiyan genetics forced his body to adapt and gets stronger to survive lack of liquids and having to survive literally on bugs he literally had to survive an all protein diet with bug juice as his source of hydration he's strong because he had to be in order to survive. He earned his power by the fact that he survived such a world for over 40+ years, on top of being a combat prodigy much like Goku so he learns quick, since when fighting Vegeta someone who normally would be stronger than he is he starts learning how to counter on top of using his natural born talent of internalizing the power of the Great Ape which turns him berserk he's not raging out of anger but out of instinct like cornered animal.

Brolly is the legendary super saiyan. He doesn't need to work as hard as goku or vegeta to raise his power. Brolly needs to learn how to control his power.

@@TheSwooj No they aren't. They just learned how to use the SS transformations. Broly is a special Saiyan, once in a millenia, with the power of the Legendary Super Saiyan. It's a whole different power.
I just watched the movie and the first thing I wanted to do was come here and clear a couple of things out which people might have missed due to the insanely fast action. Broly, as stated numerous times, is a fighting prodigy. A Legend among Legends. The creators are taking the basis of Broly from his first movie and are incorporating it into this one. Hence, they saved cost which could have been burned up into creating a battle montage. The second point being, when Broly was first introduced, the power scales had not reached the crazy heights we are used to now, so, I can understand how people may find it weird. Essentially, we just need to remember that Broly has a latent potential which he just tapped in during the film. Like Gohan and his famous ssj2 transformation or Goku going into Ultra Instinct. the last point I wanted to make is the fact that Broly never had an upper hand in terms of skills and technique. Vegeta and especially Goku showed his mastery over various martial arts during the entire length of the movie. Some of them were even so subtle, I had to rewind the fight to get a clearer look. It's so good to have his characters go back to its goofy roots. but, yeah..that's all about it. The story sometimes is subpar (which may have turned this way because Toei wanted this one to appeal to both, Western as well as the Japanese audience) but the fight sequences, animation, and characters are extremely likable.
To me it seemed like it could still fit in. He is still shown where he was fighting back and still got hit by the blast that threw him back in time. I saw it as they probably had that in there but cut it for time.
@@Goldengolfer330 Naaaah. That Super Saiyan Bardock stuff was never canon, and it's kinda corny anyways. However, his rebellion against Frieza is probably still totally intact because his armor was broken before he even clashed against Frieza' s attack.
I think this bardock is better. He is was still a savage but in the face of such a threat like frieza it made bardock act out of character. He knew his time was coming to a end and had one ditch effort to stop frieza's death ball but got rocked.
This movie was meant for the fans and not some shmucks and I will say it delivered. The character development that Broly got was needed and I'm glad they took a different angle than a simple Goku voice that makes him go psycho. First movie was a classic but this Broly seemed more relatable and god damn that 30 minute fight was like 20 DBZ episodes packed into one without the staring contest.

@@bureikusaikusu That doesn't matter when he's beeing pressured by Toei and other entities to push the "Super" brand as much as possible. You need to understand that the "real" Dragon Ball has been over for decades, and Super is part of a merchandising scheme aimed at the Naruto generation.
Its said that there was a 3 hour script written but they had to of course cut a lot so i hope they release the original script so we can see everything. Also cheelai and lemo were my favorite characters in this movie. Also i love how frieza literally was getting his butt kicked for a least an hour by Broly as they were fusing. It was hilarious
The movie itself was much longer an you can see cuts in the movie were scenes were removed when Bardock is killed by Frezzias blast his outfit is damaged all ready for no reason meaning he was fighting Frezzia henchmen before he ever showed up.Theres a longer directors cut of this.
Actually... for Alex, the reason why the last third of the film was just a giant fight scene was because it was development for Broly. It was to literally bring him up to speed to show how much of a fighting prodigy Broly was. Is it unearned? Yes. Because he is meant to be unearned, pure untapped potential. On the "Bad CG", I would say that it is "Obvious CG". It did not mesh well at some points.

Yeah Alex is a moron

These guys are so clueless lol
1) original broly’s motivation for having hatred was that goku cried next to him as a baby.
In this version he gets his ass kicked multiple times by goku and vegeta and the completely shit stomped by gogeta.
goku trained against dinosaurs and monsters in the original series. They did what they could to show the characters had a somewhat similar background.
Hey, hold up. Did you really claim that Goku, the guy who abandoned his family for years at a time to train, doesn't train every day? You're trolling right?
1) 5:15
Noted in the video sir.

That's where I call bull shit.
Goku did the same thing. and before people bring up. Oh, Goku trained his whole life
SO DID BROLY.
@@aurawolf664 i believe the move broly was using is called zanzoken (afterimage) or at the very least something similar to that
He trained more than Goku but Goku also fought way more powerful opponents than Broly ever has.
Yeah, but Goku fought consistently tougher enemies and Broly just beat on the same animals over and over
(Spoilers, I think?)
I'm sorry, I just need to say that the movie went out of its way to explain your biggest problems.
Well said man
Finally, someone who knows how to fucking watch & listen at the same time.
Perfect
Also, legendary super saiyan in canon is literally just going SSJ for the first time. So the idea of the "Legendary Super Saiyan" is no longer the same as it was in older movies, they've gone so far beyond the legend that it'd be irrelevant to them.

On the subject of Broly learning quickly. Goku did the same in dragonball. He learned the kamahamaha after only seeing it one time from Master Roschi.
It's kinda canon that Saiyans instinctually learn stuff quickly.

You couldn't even destroy Namek in this movie's run time.
Literally.

@@clapointe151 I never said they were stronger than Kakarot. They just have more potential.
@@Cloudx0x ok then why have they more potential

Broly was a freak of nature. His power, Its un earned because he was born that strong. He had a monster powerlevel at birth.
-spoiler bellow-
Broly went even further, out of control and gaining a monster power boost after Frieza killed his dad. It made sense to me. Brolys power is untapped and raw. He still doesnt know what he’s doing in the way Goku and Vegeta do.
Oh you mean when he went SUPER SAIYAN!!!
You can also see it when Goku and Broly are fighting for the first time in the movie. Goku's movements are controlled whereas Broly is pure rage.
shh Broly fanboys dont like Logic.
So what you’re saying is, Broly’s power...IS MAXIMUMER.
I have a feeling that in the anime series, they’ll explain that he’s like the hulk of DB.
Basically, Broly's like the Brock Lesnar of the Saiyans.
But Broly manages to leave out the giant and clumsy part.
couldn't have said it better !
try living on bug world for 41 fucken years.
One thing tho vegeta can control his great ape transformation
yeah but Ultra Instinct is to much for Broly...its amaizing that hes stronger than ssj blue...now if Broly goes ssj blue then his opponents better bring an extra pair of underware to the fight
In the tournament of power legendary super sayian was equal to blue, especially fusion version was even greater. Took ultra instinct Goku to win
"Dammit he's learning as he fights!"
They did explain it.
Its not that hes way more powerful than goku cause well goku still had ultra instinct
Its more that they could not put broly down, even by the end where they completely kick his ass, he just kept getting more powerful, he just had no limit, but eventually he was just outmatched like how hulk was vs thanos, all that power wont protect him forever.
Which is why broly loses in the end had the dragonballs not saved him
.
Only thing I gotta interject is that UI is a technique not a power boost. It was bad ass when Goku tried going ui off the bat

True, if Broly knew how to truly fight he woulda prob wiped them both alot faster but Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta? Idk man. That form, now that fucking gogeta is canon, is kinda retarded strong. @Pinkaugust damn. I'm gonna have to strongly disagree which you can already guess. I've been a fan for over 20 years too and thought it was awesome. What didn't you like?
@Pinkaugust i get what you're saying about the goku looking older when sent off thing, but I thought your other gripes were positives.
Both of them had a fuck ton more fighting experience than Broly but here I see everyone making excuses for Broly a dude who never got into a real fight and punked God Goku

they had more experience but at no point was kale noted as a prodigy. she wasnt born with some obsurd power level at birth like broly was
this being one of the key aspects of brolys lore, is he was born with something like a 10,000 power level. BORN stronger then goku's base form was during his first fight vs vegeta.
were as kale is shown in the anime (not the manga) as a emotionally frail girl who somehow becomes female broly out of literaly know where. and caulfla just gains super saiyan from nothing.
i liked there characters in the actual tourny of power. her getting stronger as she fought goku but eventually capping out to the point she had to fuse because he was just that much more experienced was really good. but she turned super sayian the first time simply because she wanted too..which made no sense in a universe that hasnt seen super saiyans seemingly ever. if they had simply gone the "i already knew how to go super saiyan" route id think most people wouldnt look down on her. but they trivialized the transformation MORE then goten and trunks did (because atleast they had parents who became super saiyans or were at the time). then they turned kale into OP god mode (which she mastered in less then 20 minutes in universe...despite not being shown as being a prodigy or a genius fighter)
broly at the very least explains his power more, hes the prodigy of prodigys. hes bascially another goku but born as a ultra high class warrior
broly is what goku would of been had he been born stronger. which is logical
kale and caulfla dont really have any of that in super. theyre introduced quickly to push the story along
caulfla is refered to as a genius, but kale (the actual female broly) just so happend to be super strong. yet she masters her rage form in less time then it took goku to master ultra instinct. with goku hes been shown that hes expectional, time and time again. theres alot of story to prove this. yet kale, was shown as being frail and afraid. i mean she turned super saiyan simply because she felt useless (not a bad reason tbh, better then Caulfla) yet she masters this rage form. by magic i guess
all of this being said, fighting experience =/= power. kale and caulfla def had more fighting experience then broly (somthings better then nothing), neither of them really had that much
this is why goku was able to take on both K and C despite the massive power difference.
After all the bitching about broly story from the past they probably aint want a repeat of that shit lol
well that's cuz toriyama actually went out of his way to work on this character and improved on him
The CG was actually pretty good imo it had a heavy BALLS TO WALLS SWEEPING SHOT ARC SYSTEM STYLE to it you know?

Godfather trilogy is overrated. Badass AF, but over rated.
Godfather is perfect.
Its just not for everyone.
Meh... maybe just the second one. 😉 😂😂😂😂
Then when Broly starts raging out he gets this green aura that they said is Broly tapping into the great apes power, which only Broly can do (possibly because he’s like an animal already)
Which gives him the x10 multiplier edging him over vegeta, who was not saving his energy (which is why he asked for a sensu bean)
Then goku does goku shenanigans and shows his ki binding technique to try and calm Broly.
(Yes they can stack because kaioken blue is stacked)
This is why Broly is so god damn strong. Feel free to rewatch the film to see these points (also gogeta is a movie character that also gets canonized in this film)

taylor kxng he sure was a badass but this new Broly is very relatable and can join Z fighters as well in my opinion.
Not only that, three hours of script was reduced to 1 hour 40 mins so there was more to Broly which had to be cut down.

Yeah you are right. Goku changed his fighting style with every form. It just shows how much of a martial artist genius Goku is.

if it becomes a series i hope they don't bother remaking the broly arc here. just have the movie be an introduction. one of super's biggest mistakes was wasting time going over the same plotpoints that the movie already established.
I wouldn't mind this time because Toriyama wrote a 3 hour script.
This guy: I’m a huge DBZ fan
...goes on to get tons of facts wrong and doesn’t pay attention to the movie

The joes response was my own 'Da fuck are you talking about?'
Maybe im to much a fanboy from something so attached to my childhood but if you review a movie you cannot just argue for the sake of arguing, especially when everyone in the room is fighting you on your 'Criticisms'
Alex sucks i hate him
They didnt explain anything as to why broly could keep up with them.
Frieza killed his father that's how he went super and Frieza knew that would happen bcuz of planet namek wen he killed Krillin........... Fans my ass

The Universal Fighting System! Set 1 was Street fighter, I forgot what set 2 was supposed to be, but set 3 was DB; I'm thinking they moved DB to set 2 and we will see it very soon
@@shantiboomj the other set was suppose to be Mortal Kombat if I'm not mistaken

Goku and Vegeta are the legendary ssj too... and Gohan... and Goten and Trunks
@@TheSwooj No they aren't. They just learned how to use the SS transformations. Broly is a special Saiyan, once in a millenia, with the power of the Legendary Super Saiyan. It's a whole different power.
Broly is so strong because he channeled the Ōzaru power without becoming an Ōzaru
The new broly is basically a canon ssj4 since he's got the oozaru power while hes human and his rage multiplies his power. WHICH IS AWESOME !
His father explained why he was so powerful he was able to use oozaru power in human form that’s why he was also out of control
Basically Super Saiyan 4 lol
I FORGIVE ALEX.
I was feeling the same way as AngryJoe LOL.

They saved Broly, but they ruined the legend of Bardock, I'm so conflicted...
However, his rebellion against Frieza is probably still totally intact because his armor was broken before he even clashed against Frieza' s attack.
he still fought back
That was already ruined with dragon ball minus bro
I think this bardock is better. He is was still a savage but in the face of such a threat like frieza it made bardock act out of character. He knew his time was coming to a end and had one ditch effort to stop frieza's death ball but got rocked.
This movie was meant for the fans and not some shmucks and I will say it delivered. The character development that Broly got was needed and I'm glad they took a different angle than a simple Goku voice that makes him go psycho. The thing about "super" its being done by fan fiction writers and stuff that i used to read as a kid. Also this is a movie drawn out things especially where it isnt needed in a movie can impact a movie. Only main thing Toriyama anymore is that its based on his "creation"
Quarren Everett Well Toriyama wrote a lot of the script for this movie, he was heavily involved unlike the actual DBS series
I burst out laughing on that part 😂
@@bureikusaikusu That doesn't matter when he's beeing pressured by Toei and other entities to push the "Super" brand as much as possible. You need to understand that the "real" Dragon Ball has been over for decades, and Super is part of a merchandising scheme aimed at the Naruto generation.
Donor of Ruffled Feathers Oh I understand that, Toriyama hasn’t had interest in the series since the 90s
The movie itself was much longer an you can see cuts in the movie were scenes were removed when Bardock is killed by Frezzias blast his outfit is damaged all ready for no reason meaning he was fighting Frezzia henchmen before he ever showed up.Theres a longer directors cut of this.
when goku trolled frieza by leading broly into him...i literally lol'd.
Actually... for Alex, the reason why the last third of the film was just a giant fight scene was because it was development for Broly.
It was to literally bring him up to speed to show how much of a fighting prodigy Broly was.
Is it unearned? Yes.
Because he is meant to be unearned, pure untapped potential.
On the "Bad CG", I would say that it is "Obvious CG". It did not mesh well at some points.
