As a Nagaland citizen I can say that this series very well portrays the political truth of the state. Thanks to the team of patal Lok to bring some attention of the Hindi belt audience towards our beautiful Nagaland state. ❤
Hii @shubmann I just had a question, I have never heard Nagamese language before this show but I am familiar with Assamese. Are these two languages very similar? I was so confused if the characters are speaking Nagamese or Assamese.. please answer
@@nadima1055 the language used in the show is Nagamese which is slightly different to Assamese. It is basically a mixture of local naga dialects and Assamese.
First Bhediya, then jaane jaan and now Pataal lok, i really hope this trend continues and we get to see more of north east representation in our industry!

I am a Jat woman and my father is inspector in the Delhi Police, this series reminded me of my own father, through and through. Jaideep’s mannerisms, his language, words - everything seems to true to character and authentic
I was so impressed by Tilottama Shom's nagaland accent the way she delivers her english line in a specific way. It sounded so authentic. Also the character played by Prateek Pachauri who accompanies Hathi, the guy with the stuck case. He picked up the UP way of speaking perfectly. I was hooked! The pace, the impeccable cinematography, seamless integration of the politics of Nagaland. It was a treat to watch. Some scenes definitely made me tear up and stop. The bond between Ansari and Hathiram is so palpable, the mutual respect and brotherhood was fantastically portrayed. I also enjoyed the diversity of artists that came together to enhance the overall story. Thoroughly riveting performances.
As someone from NE (not from Nagaland), it was great to hear nagamese and to see naga people in a mainstream show. Although I feel like they missed out on showing some great, scenic places in Kohima and Zakhama.
Jaideep Alhwa’ys’ delivers. Gem of an actor, how easily he slides into this delhi cop role, becoming a shade of family man, also having immense range in emotional scenes, truely a contemporary master of the craft. Please do a detailed analysis of Black Warrant too(yes you did a short one in your last video) but would love to know your thoughts on it, its only 2 weeks into 2025 & 2 bangers of OTT shows have dropped. 😮❤
This second series is very good . Jaideep Ahlawat has delivered another stunning performance . The rest of the cast have been a revelation . I think people think it is not as good as Season 1 only because Abhishek Banerjee as Hathoda was a once-in-a-decade performance which was missing here .
Finally an authentic representation of North-Eastern part of the country. Now waiting for season 3 of Family Man whose story is said to be set in North-East
Season 2 is very different from season 2 yes , its not as violent . But for me personally that makes this season refreshing rather than making me feel disappointed i didnt get more of the same. Season 2 in fact is far superior than season 1 in terms of writing and just generally having a better story i felt.
Loved season 2. Jaideep is a beast! What an actor. It was great to see Nagesh Kukunoor back on screen. He made some gems like Hyderabad Blues, Rockford, Iqbal back in the 90's-2000's.
Hi Jammy .... I've been one of the earliest subscribers to the channel, and never in my wildest dreams did I think of you to be talking about my state (Nagaland) in the context of your review. But here you are and speaking of the complex subject matter that's been tackled in the series, I was surprised myself with the level of research that was put into making it as authentic as possible. But as you know the feelings are always subjective, yet for me I had a huge smile watching the local talent shines as they share frames with some of the finest actors in the country.
I m not from Nagaland but from Sikkim and I m so glad there’s finally something that’s capturing the northeastern part of India. Loved the series and I think everyone did a fantastic job, I was completely invested too😊
Thank you Jammy for putting your honest opinion about the show forward. I watched other reviews and everyone seem to be directly comparing this season with the first one but your take feels most appropriate to me. This season is truly fresh and entertaining. It had been really long since I finished any show in one stretch but Patal Lok S2 kept me so hooked I completed the whole season in one sitting. A really good work by the makers and the actors! Hope to see more such refreshing content focusing on these ignored part of our own country. ✌️
I remember jaideep from his days at crime patrol as a police officer and now hathiram he is a gem of an actor there is much more due to the man for his craft
Hospital mob scene was amazing where they evacuated rose..can feel the tension sitting on couch Casting was amazing and choosing nagaland instead of punjab n up was another refreshing experience
Brilliant second series! One of my best friends of more than 15 years is from Nagaland so I have had the pleasure and privilege of experiencing their culture and I genuinely found this show portray the state sensitively. And the story is thrilling. Almost everyone did their characters justice. The storyline for Ansari, Gul, and were heartfelt as well. Great job!
I agree with u.. i found series to be very refreshing as it tells story of a state which sadly we dnt knw much abt..hathi ram and ansari r heros of the show for sure but the nagaland actors have taken this season to another level
Absolutely worth the wait of 5 years...That's how you make season 2...which is rare nowadays in OTT platforms. Love how the story unfolds in each episode.... One major point noticed....like season 1, in season 2 also main culprit not get caught due to his power and position....and just truth revealed
subscriber from Nagaland,...I do feel excited and glad that we are a part of Bollywood at last. I enjoyed watching but the local cast could have been better and as a big fan of Tried and Refused... I was anxiously waiting for your review and what you have to say about our part of world.
At one point in the show where Hathiram leaves a huge sum of money on the table (something he could have easily claimed and would have solved so many of his lifestyle issues) he still only takes a certain amount that belongs to the kid's father, that scene made me automatically physically salute this man/character on my TV screen.
I think the one reason for the polarising reactions to this season is that the effective and unapologetic commentary on socio-political scenario in the capital was the backbone of the first season. The essence of the netherworld being absolutely vile and unforgivable was more visceral in the first season whereas this season, from a holistic point of view, became a full murder mystery. The commentary took a backseat and solely put the investigation and the unfolding of the revelations in the spotlight. Personally speaking, this season was extremely engaging from start to finish and a completely different story from the first one. I get why people are complaining but this was not underwhelming at all. P.S. Every single time a series makes you warm up to a character and make you feel so much for him/her, they flip the table by doing THAT thing (episode 4) 😭😭. This trope, of course, leaves you heartbroken but is becoming too predictable now
Jaideep Ahlawat is the one of the very few actors in the entire industry who actually speaks the Haryanvi language 'correctly'. Bollywood directors otherwise think the language is only about "tanne, manne, kathe." This should act as a positive signal for directors to not shy away from casting authentic native speakers of a language who fit into the respective role's demands rather than always going for language coaches.
As a viewer from Nagaland , after watching the series, I had hugh respect for the makers in bringing up such stories to the mainland of India through paatallok2 , and also hatsoff to the team for casting real local naga artist. Lastly, one word for Jaideep Ahlawat "Gifted"... we need more of him.
Jaideep is a versatile actor. With movies like Three of Us under his belt, he can pull off any character given to him. What I liked was the removal of the rawness that was present in Season 1, as Jammy mentioned at 4:56. I feel a story can be told in the most authentic way without relying on these nuances if the makers want its reach to be broader.
I actually liked s02 more. The story was equally dark gritty and complex and has its own identity. If the Nagaland story and the Chitrakoot story was swapped, it wouldn't make a difference because the world feels the same and in both the system wins.
The season blew my mind. It is so good like it has done a great job showcasing Nagaland. I love the real-life setting, cast, screenplay, etc. I hope the film and showmakers tap more into NE. Have to say this Jaideep Sir is one of my fav actors 😁, I'm so happy to see him do shows like these. I hope he gets more acknowledgment for his excellent work and what a personality 🥰. Lastly, my fav reviewer Jammy Bhaiya, does a great job every time.
The Scene where Hathiram stops the car and says in a very angry tone about not understanding anything about same sex love but if Imran feels right in his heart he shouldn't care anyone else..... I had my eyes teary but in next scene he asks if Imran also fights with U, and upon getting answer yes Hathiram says "FIR KYA FAIDA HUWA BC". I laughed my heart out. Couldn't believe myself I was crying a moment ago and now I am laughing. Amazing show.
That's Jaideep Ahlawat for us ❤ he brings perfection to anything he does. I repeatedly watched many such scenes of hathiram saying something. He is so natural and organic with his comic timing as well 😂
Brilliant analysis and for a change, I completely agree. I think the difference between Paatal lok and a family man ( also excellent) is that the latter is more dramatic. Paatal lok is more an atmospheric thriller. The essence of Jamuna Paar was captured in season 1 and similarly, the naturally eerie landscape of Nagaland provides the perfect atmosphere. I think something similar was attempted by Anubhav Sinha in Anek, albeit less successfully. I wonder why it took so long for season 2 especially when the 1st season was so well received.
Don’t know why people thought this to be underwhelming. I actually preferred this one to the first season. Loved the slow burn and the twists, just when one thinks it’s over, there comes another layer to unravel. Our north east is so gorgeous, the visuals of Nagaland were truly breathtaking. Jaideep Ahlawat is so brilliant in his portrayal of Hathiram. As for Ishwak singh, he has a very endearing charm on his face, which instantly makes you want to empathize with him. Also loved Tilottama Shome’s performance, oscillating between hot and cold. Special mention to Anurag Arora, who nails the cop character so well, both in Delhi Crime and in Pataal Lok. Wish we could see more of such talented performers in engaging scripts, like Pataal Lok. All in all a super engaging crime series, loved it. P.S - Jaideep Ahlawat is a jaat from Haryana, so the accent came as no surprise 😊
Authenticity! Relatability! And a part of our country and its people deserving respect get their due. And Jaideep A - what a gem. Kudos to the whole team! Thank you for your great review as always!
I really liked the attention to detail in the series. For eg Tillotama who plays an assamese character in he series has her accent right. Even the call log in her phone has Deuta ie father in assamese. For once i found the treatment given to ppl of NE as normal and not cringe like Ayushman khhranas Anek.
Never heard of the series but then I hardly watch movies or series. But Jammy I'm so glad to see you talking about Nagaland 😊. Will definitely watch it.
I also look at the extras sometimes and this series has a goldmine mine of some extras really being Extra 😅😅 for one instance you can see a constable rolling his eyes and about to salute hathi ram but stopped midway when Hathi ram comes down the stairs after seeing uncle ken towards the end 😅
The saddest part about an actor like Jaideep Ahlawat is that he was bombarded with only one question after season one, which was, 'When will season 2 come out?'. Now it is ok to be inquisitive, but if the actor has impressed us with his acting, should we not support his films that release in theatres or any of his other works? In 2023, he did a film called 'Three of Us' with Shefali Shah and Swanand Kirkie, which released theatrically and vanished in a matter of days; and at that time, no one supported him, or even other actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Kay Kay Menon, Vijay Raaz, and Pankaj Tripathi. Even Manoj Bajpayee's film 'Joram,' which released in 2023, wasn't even celebrated enough and only minted 70 lakhs at the B.O. It is high time that we support such talent across all mediums.
some people are saying there were 9 episodes and one of them was cut out to avoid controversies, that episode would have delved deeper into the world building, personally i think it might have been related to rose lisa , thom and the sister and maybe uncle ken and his son
I have seen 100s and 100s of series across India or globally but the kick, the rawness and the engagement and fear Paatalok gave were outstanding. Since I saw Asur S1 and Paatalok S1 I have recommended them to everyone around who loves media consumption. The Direction, the authenticity or the curiosity of layers. Omg, just 100/100❤ . Also, I have loved and appreciated you since the start. Lots of love. Thanks, Jammy❤
They could have return with the same concept of the first season but they didn't. They remain loyal towards their artistic expression. Totally commendable❤
I am from Assam and even though I do not speak Nagamese it is very very similar to Assamese. I felt there are some scenes where the dialogues happening between supposed Naga characters were in Assamese and not Nagamese. There is difference between the two language but since I know one of them I could catch that. But I might be wrong. There are some Assamese actors playing Naga in this series so maybe that is why they passed of Assamese as Nagamese in some scenes. Loved the series. Good representation of Northeast. I would definitely want more such series or films based in Northeast. There are many stories to tell from this part of India.
What I loved about the first season, the mythological parallels seem to have taken a backseat , although not as dark and gritty as S1 , it's an engaging watch nonetheless
The bitter truth is that now everyone will start to compare it with previous season Which is wrong because the world of this season is completely different from the world of the previous season. The creators have given us a completely different angle to look at our system, comparing it with previous season is unjustice.
The security system in North east aren't like the mainstream so a man walking around the hospital or walking around the town with a gun is very common in our state😂
First time I watch something which involved North east without feeling cringe....the show really did great with the casting n it was kinda well research work
I agree this season has its own identity within the same world... It doesnt have similar villain as was in season 1 and that is what i found beauty unlike other people.... Because it would be repeatitve and cash grab if they made siimillar villain but it wasnt
Jaydeep Ahlawat is the enough reason to watch Pataal Lok, I dont know why people need anything else. Pushpa 2 audience will never appreciate such shows.
I am glad that I didn't re watch the Season 1, the treatment I apply to most of the shows in general. This show was exceptional, a solid 4 star and then some. Ahlawat was fantastic as expected, Tilottama was great and so was Ishwak.
Indian's really need to understand the meaning anthology series! Where we have different types of stories from previous seasons in new seasons, this what makes patal lok Indians best anthology series to watch and s2 was a treat with story, screenplay and casting 🔥 not at all disappointment
"Let the silver screen inspire you, but draw lessons from characters like Hathi Ram Chaudhary's integrity or ACP Ansari's courage. Don't get swayed by the Guddu Pandits and Munna Bhaiyas of the world. Instead, let the heroes who embody values and principles be your guiding light."
As a Nagaland citizen I can say that this series very well portrays the political truth of the state. Thanks to the team of patal Lok to bring some attention of the Hindi belt audience towards our beautiful Nagaland state. ❤

P.S - Jaideep Ahlawat is a jaat from Haryana, so the accent came as no surprise 😊
As a Manipuri it feels so good to see our NE people coming to the mainstream ❤️ and Hathi is just 🤌🤌🤌🤌🫠
The casting team deserves a standing ovation for sure. The best ensemble cast over the years. . Inclusivity, Authencity intact. . . Hats off!! ❤❤👏👏👏
Authenticity! Relatability! And a part of our country and its people deserving respect get their due. And Jaideep A - what a gem. Kudos to the whole team! Thank you for your great review as always!
Bollywood and authenticity 😂 dono ka koi lena dena nhi h
I really liked the attention to detail in the series. For eg Tillotama who plays an assamese character in he series has her accent right. Even the call log in her phone has Deuta ie father in assamese.
For once i found the treatment given to ppl of NE as normal and not cringe like Ayushman khhranas Anek.
Jaideep Ahlawat has made Hathiram Chaudhary immortal
That 10 people are normal workers not drug dealers
Serious was really good. Loved how they portrayed Nagaland. Hope we get Season 3. If there are more NE based series would love to watch
Never heard of the series but then I hardly watch movies or series. But Jammy I'm so glad to see you talking about Nagaland 😊. Will definitely watch it.
Amazing!!! Paatal Lok 1 & 2……..simply fantastic. The Imran/Haathi relationship is simply mindblowingly moving!!!!
Known him since Commando. Crazy actor the man is.
Thanks to the series I come to know that nagaland people speak Bengali dialect language, nice to know
5yrs.....good thing they showed north east in the way it deserves... authentication is the need
Definitely worth the wait!
It’s a really good season and definitely has less gore than season 1 and in a sense it has a better story line !
the character of a small child and the one who he killed his father.Presence Was Phenomenal
What a series! I did this binge watching after such a long time!!!!
some people are saying there were 9 episodes and one of them was cut out to avoid controversies, that episode would have delved deeper into the world building, personally i think it might have been related to rose lisa , thom and the sister and maybe uncle ken and his son
Some of the scenes in this season were quite heart-wrenching.
Asur and patal lok 😂 medicore h
Like how all the sub plots got closure in the last 15 minutes. Specially with the kid and the money❤❤
Btw Azaad review???
Was waiting for your review! 😀 I finished it within a day and loved it!
Daniel whoever done the role he does not have too much dialogues ut still delivers
First I heard Shashi Tharoor and then came Anmol....Who wants English classes???Just watch their videos on how to speak English....
Thanks for mentioning Sudip Sharma.
Hathiram has immortalized Jaideep Ahlawat.. Jaideep Ahlawat has immortalized Hathiram...
Is it only me who realised that his eyes were more involved in many emotional scenes
They could have return with the same concept of the first season but they didn't. They remain loyal towards their artistic expression. Totally commendable❤
An absolutely binge worthy sequel giving a new perspective
I am from Assam and even though I do not speak Nagamese it is very very similar to Assamese. I felt there are some scenes where the dialogues happening between supposed Naga characters were in Assamese and not Nagamese. There is difference between the two language but since I know one of them I could catch that. But I might be wrong. There are some Assamese actors playing Naga in this series so maybe that is why they passed of Assamese as Nagamese in some scenes. Loved the series. Good representation of Northeast. I would definitely want more such series or films based in Northeast. There are many stories to tell from this part of India.
Yess.. Nagamese is literally Naga Assamese with slight variations in pronunciation and vocab.
What I loved about the first season, the mythological parallels seem to have taken a backseat , although not as dark and gritty as S1 , it's an engaging watch nonetheless
Thank you for your prompt review..... your review made me to log in to my prime account and go and binge watch it 😊
The bitter truth is that now everyone will start to compare it with previous season Which is wrong because the world of this season is completely different from the world of the previous season. The creators have given us a completely different angle to look at our system, comparing it with previous season is unjustice.
I was waiting for black warrant but jammy came with pataal lok 😂❤
Pasha & Milind in Family man
And Now Ansari
These deaths hits
India is really great , A true beauty ! 😍
I can't even remember what happened in S1...😂😅
@1:20 it was on the back burner was this long due to all these govt conflicts around the North East area of the country
The security system in North east aren't like the mainstream so a man walking around the hospital or walking around the town with a gun is very common in our state😂
First time I watch something which involved North east without feeling cringe....the show really did great with the casting n it was kinda well research work
Good start for bollywood in 2025 with two compelling web shows. Emergency, fateh were also decent attempt.
Family man and pataallok are two great series
Season 2 is refreshing, I loved it.
love it... the series worth the watch
To be honest it is very interesting and engaging it took me around 4-5hours to complete the season. I really enjoyed season 2.
