So far I absolutely appreciate your efforts in demonstrating the calibration settings for the A90J and A80J TVs by Sony. One question for you. Is the only fundamental difference between the Dolby Dark and Bright settings just the toggle difference from Expert Color 1 vs Expert Color 2 as explained in the video? That said, will all the other settings copy over or do we need to toggle from Dark to Bright to specifically change each setting exclusively?
Wonderful series of videos, @FADETOBLACK ! Quick clarifying question in regards to Dolby Vision Bright; do I use the “Per Color Adjustment” settings as it pertains to the Expert 2 color temperature? Or do I use the same “Per Color Adjustment” settings that Dolby Vision Dark uses? Thanks again! 🙏
also curious about that. If we switch over to DV Bright, do we leave everything else as-is? I feel some movies are just way too dark and need that 'extra' push.
Just bought an A80K. Thought I would see if these settings would work with this model. I watched your videos and used the settings, including adding Custom Pro 1 and 2. Definitely better picture quality. Depending if I'm watching SD, HDR, or DV, I just change to the appropriate picture setting. It's like night and day how much better it is. Thanks!
He has 4 videos. Each one showed separate settings for SDR, HDR, and DV. I adjusted the 20 point settings and the per color on each picture mode. He also explained the difference between Expert 1, Expert 2, and Warm. I know these settings were for the A80J. I have the A80k. Just stating that using these settings improved the visual quality on SD, HDR, and DV on my A80K. Just have to change the picture mode depending on what I'm watching.
@@baker5351 what I'm saying is that he didn't provided the values for Expert 2 (HDR and DV Bright) and Warm (DV Dark) they actually use different 20 pt adjustments (not like he said that those were on the second video) he already acknowledge this since Sammie Prescott Jr, his calibrator, already confirmed that those two CT he made very different values is just something that he missed on the videos probably because they are similar when in fact there is a difference with the three options, specially with Warm temperature since it has a total different white point, hopefully we will get an update on this he is already been great for providing us with this but we will need to wait to complete the settings on our own Tvs. What is the size of your tv I'm sorry?
Look on the comment section on this very same video, scroll down to a user named Seo Jeng, and then scroll down the comments you will find the conversation between FADE, Sammie, and that user. It's something that is missing on the videos it's just a matter of waiting for the settings otherwise just dont make changes on Custom 2 just use Expert 2 with no 20 pt adjustments or per color adj, and DV preferably Bright with Expert 2 since the White point on DV Dark is messed OOTB either with Warm, Expert 1 or 2 so it's better to calibrate to use Dark picture mode with calibrated Warm so we do need to wait for those settings to be shared by FADE
Are this settings for Dolby Vision Bright / Dark ? As it reflects on the video? If not will you have any future videos for Dolby Vision Bright ? I’ve done all the other settings and my A80 looks just amazing. Thank You. Max.
Crazy. I was going to order the A80J 77 today at Costco for $2600 with a 5yr warranty. Surprisingly early this morning I found out of many reported HDMI CEzc connection issue and had heard that the optical didn't support the full PCM bandwidth because of Google TV. I don't know if the PCM thing was true but the numerous HDMI issue I read gave me a moment of pause. I decided to wait until the A80K 77 goes on sale on black Friday to pull the trigger on that unit. So since I didn't get the TV I purchased the Panasonic UB9000 which I saw you also reviewed. I use to have a crazy surround sound system but I decided to downgrade and go with a hifi 2 channel set up in my apartment that will double up with being connected to my TV. This is why the optical issue considered me since I'll have to run to a DAC then to my integrated. Look forward to getting the Panasonic and then getting the new Sony.

Don’t use Dolby vision…if you can turn off Dolby vision and use HDR do it. If you use a Roku disable Dolby vision and use HDR. Not every content uses DV. So brightness will vary. Using different apps will act differently. HDR is used with every app so you don’t have to keep on changing setting. Try it. Go on a Disney app or HBO see what setting your using DV to HDR. Hi Fade. I didn’t realize you were in CO! I’m in the Castle Rock area myself. Just picked up an A90J about 3 weeks ago, and have the itch to get it calibrated. I recently contacted D-Nice, but he won’t be out here until March 2023. He actually calibrated my Pioneer 101FD when I was living in CA, I guess that would have been 8 years ago now. Anyhow, are you still planning on selling the A80J? Forgive me if that topic has already been covered, I’ve just begun watching your RUclips channel.
