    Do1 je6 saai3, Amanda 😃 You are a great teacher!!! Your lessons are very clear and easy to understand!!! I have a question at 5:36, why did you say yat1 dim2 zung1? I think it would be yi4 gaa1 yat1 dim2?? 🤔

      jat1 dim2 zung1 means 1 o'clock.
      ji5 gaa1 jat1 dim2 means "It's 1 o'clock now"

      I have other questions pleaseee. Which way should I say thank to your reply? [Do1 je6] or [m4 goi1] and why? And why do you use "j" instead of "y"? Is it yi4 or yi5? I see you wrote yi4 in your video.

    I've always struggled greatly trying to learn Cantonese. My mom came from the cantonese part of China and she's always been very dissappointed in me because I could never learn the language no matter what I did to study. But your lessons help a lot, Thank you! I'm finally learning (and its sticking in my head lol)😁

    Hey Amanda, your lessons are very helpful. Thank you! On the other hand, could you please add Cantonese lessons (English) to one playlist? That way it will automatically load from lessons 5-6, 6-7, and so on. I understand Cantonese but I couldn't speak very well, I always play your lessons while I'm working. Without the playlist, when your videos end It will jump to other Cantonese videos instead of continuing your video. Hope this gives you a better idea! Thank you again!

    Hi Amanda, I commented previously in another lesson, I have a suggestion if I may. Your lessons and your teaching method are great, and very effective. Continue with them as you're doing now, make that the first and main part of the lesson, some new vocabulary, a new grammar structure, etc. Then I think it would be good to add a short dialog for the topic to round off the lesson, no more than 3-5 short sentences. The dialog should be in Cantonese only, no English. This would 1. reinforce the lesson, 2, something for the student to memorize and/or shadowing. These short and basic dialogs for 5-10 minutes a day, I find then to be very effective for me as I absorb other languages naturally, so as I said, it's just a friendly suggestion to make your lessons even better. Thanks for your efforts, keep up the good work.

      Hi Amanda! I’d like to understand why 3:15 is “Saam dim saam”, but 2:40 you said as “saam dim baat”? Shouldn’t it be “Leung dim baat” following the logic? Or am I missing some grammar rules? Also the same for 3:50 - you’ve said as “sei dim sap”, instead of “saam dim sap”. Looking forward for your reply. Thanks

      saam1 dim2 sap6 is 3: 50

      As mentioned in the video, when 2 is before a measure word or a noun. We can only say leung5 instead of ji6😄. Since minute is a measure word, we use leung5, another example is 2 o'clock. It's leung5 dim2. 😊

    Can you explain why go3 is not used for '3 minutes' but would be used for '3 hours'?

    • @5minutecantonese
      @5minutecantonese  3 года назад +4

      Hi! Basically 90% of the nouns requires measure word. But there are some exceptions, it's especially common for time related nouns. For example, minute, second, day and year. But we use go3 for hour, week and month. This is interesting. I decided to do a video about it. Thanks a lot!
