The mental image of a thousand drop pods descending from the sky onto a land popping out a thousand of the same looking people who immediately get to work at breakneck speed building their own mega camp is a hilarious one. Also this reminds me of all the videos I watch about Roman army history on youtube and how these legions of thousands of soldiers set up these big organized camps in like a day as their base in hostile territory some building defenses, other the structures, others foraging and sourcing water, etc, same energy
I love that that it literally took to be claustrophobically stuck inside a mountain for days, starving, freezing, unmoving, and with watching rock being the only thing to do for them to have a mental break. Those are some hardy bois

as someone who plays rimworld I looked at the title and I just expected 20 minutes of him trying to fix errors and the video ending, but damn, mans has a beef cake of a pc
At this level, the pc can only do so much, Rimworld simply has an engine that doesn't utilise resources properly. If the Rocketman mod actually gives 12-30 tps at 1000 pawns, that's really impressive.

I actually just checked and it culls a LOT of stuff, The lighting system is changed to not recalculate the entire map when a change occurs and tick rates on animals and world pawns (I assume that means pawns not in your current viewable map) are cut enormously. It also messes with statistics to a degree.

i imagine the story went something like this : there was an accident onboard a cloning colony in space, some jerk accidentally hit copy and paste a few too many times, which overloaded the system. in order to cover up this costly mistake the cloning company decided to crash the entire colony ship into the planet to write it off as a loss for insurance purposes. unfortunately, 1000 of those clones survived. this is their story.

What about a full colony of pyromaniacs? Everyone in your initial crashlanders is just given pyro, and you can only recruit other pyros. You could also add the Bad Can Be Good mod so pyros at least get some heat tolerance.
the thing about pryromanics i like them in my big colonies cause fires are easy to put out so most of the times they break my guys just put out the fire immeditly
The maddened screams of the entombed can almost be heard by the countless and contented Guys working tirelessly outside. In the depths of the mountain they suffer in darkness, hoping a fellow Guy will come and save them. Instead they starve.
Putting all the beds on the outside like that just seems like wasted energy. I feel like the only good way to do something like this would be to relegate chunks of colonists to separate zones all over the map and make each little zone its own self-contained micro-colony that provides them with the raw basics. Having the beds all on the outer rim without any strict zoning and most of your colonists are going to spend the vast majority of their time walking, either to get food, to get to their jobs or to get to their beds. It will take a bit more time to set up obviously, but I feel like very little will get done without closer access to those necessities. There is very good reason the vast majority of people live within 30 minutes of their employer.
Yeah ok, good luck assigning everyone to their own micro colonies when you cant even reliably select the same pawn more than once. Call me crazy, but I think this guy might know what he's doing and what options he has.
Rimthreaded does not work with Rocketman, and never will. Rimthreaded is really overrated and is more trouble than it’s worth unless you have a threadripper cpu.

Imagine being raided by 1000 Guys As easy as it might sound, beating 1000 suicidal cannon fodders who never stop coming might be, in fact, really tough. People will start getting mental breaks, and turrets will run out of ammo. It's quantity over quality.
When you build a stockpile it immediately checks to recalculate hauling tasks, I think. Try making one at night when they are all asleep, maybe it won't recalc until they start waking up.
My headcanon for this scenario is a bioengineering company experimenting with cloning and eternal life via mind transfer gets shut down by the government and offload their "excess biological waste" on an undisclosed planet in the middle of nowhere. And thus, the hivemind colony of Guy was created.

"We gotta speed up this workflow guys." I had immediate flashbacks to Dwarf fortress. I kept cutting new 'faster' paths, trying to split dwarfs off from the continous spew of dwarfs that go everywhere, taking one sock each. It never worked.

That would be the smart thing to do. This is AA we're talking about. Jokes aside, it would be hard to make a barracks work for ascetics. They get a +5 mood buff from AWFUL rooms only, +0 for dull, and a penalty for anything fancier than that. It's hard to build a large barracks without making the impressiveness spike due to spaciousness alone. That said, it might be worth it to cram them in a large barracks despite the mood penalty just to cut down on build cost and travel time.

The start of this run reminded me of when I accidentally added 1,000,000 survival meals on prepare carefully, thinking I had put in 1,000 and it covered my map. I had such a hard time trying to survive as they had to keep shuffling everything to plant and build.
I haven't watched the video yet but THANK YOU SO MUCH for showing me Rocketman. I have a very heavily modded game and use an old version of RuntimeGC (the only one I could find that actually worked) and while it is functional, it still requires me to constantly wipe off-screen caravans and such and such every so often and I'm not sure exactly what it is doing. Meanwhile, rocketman sounds like it's meant to fix a lot of the thread issues that Tynan created in the first place, like having everything tick at 60hz when you're not even looking at it. Tynan made a great game and I love it but he's a little defensive about how it has to function. Why does it need to check every tick per colonist with firefighting, for a fire in the home area, when it can just check every tick for a fire, then check for available colonists? It's little things like this that add up!
I loved your older videos such as the 100 playthrough and all passions no skills. Then I watched the 200 playthrough and it felt like it was aimed at a different age group with constant jokes and different voices. I figured I'd check this one out because I really wanted to find something similar to those early vids and it seems that you've gone back to what made you so enjoyable to watch in the first place, so thank you.
