    Great video. I have a scan tool and I closed my PayPal account due to their decision to fine account holders $2500 for engaging in First Amendment protected speech. I only mention it because others may have done the same so an alternative payment method might be required. Venmo is owned by PayPal but CashApp isn’t.
    Good luck to the entries.

      12:37 That's why I called this chapter; "Why Spend $640 on a Scan Tool?"
      Check out the Ford Dealership hourly shop rates. lol
      The scan tool could pay for itself on the very first use.
      Also I did a community poll, and the vast majority said they would rather spend $640 on a scan tool than belly up to the bar and pay for diagnosis at a dealership. Most folks refuse to pay for diagnosis, and would rather deploy both barrels of the parts shotgun. lol

      And I use the same $6 socket set myself.
      The reason 99.9% of all my videos are filmed in one take with no cuts, or editing is because I do not have proper editing software. lol
      This is definitely a “high level” tool for a DIY.
      That’s why I like, and recommend the A30M so much.
      It has near identical software, function, and capability of the IP819.
      Not to mention free lifetime software updates for only $220.
      I just checked, and it’s on sale for $205, and I might be able to get an 8% off code from my XTOOL Rep. Let me know, and I’ll ask for the 8% off promo code. So it would only be $188.

      @PanzerPlatform  Год назад +2

      Right on Josh,
      That’s a great question.
      In general that’s not how OBD2 works.
      No scan tool will tell you “which part is bad”.
      A trouble code alone is never a reason to replace any part.
      A trouble code is simply a starting point for diagnosis.
      Imagine being lost in a forrest, and you need to find your way out.
      A scan tool is like a map, and a compass.
      It takes a person to interpret the map, and use the compass to find your way out.
      For example;
      DTC P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
      Misfire is defined as lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of spark, incorrect fuel metering, low compression, or any other cause.
      Possible causes;
      Ignition system
      Fuel injector
      Low compression
      Running out of fuel
      EVAP purge valve
      Fuel pressure
      EGR system malfunction

    Hey Chuck, this is yet another informative video. I recently did a conversion on my 98 CV from rear air suspension to coil springs, I used the Arnott brand kit with shocks and springs. On my digital dash now the words “check air Suspension” lights up, have you any knowledge of a way to clear that out?

      Right on Bama,
      Thanks for stopping in.
      I remember seeing a video about this a while back. The video said to remove the solenoids from the old air shocks, and plug them back in, after zip tying them up, and out of the way. However the suspension light may return intermittently.

    At the moment there’s not much difference between the Xtool devices, considering possible future updates which one would you recommend to buy for a certified nerd? The D7 got an update basically making it an D8, the D8 might be getting big future updates my guess topology diagnostic(?) and the IP819 is a new device which seems like a future D8 lite version but a better version then a D7(?)
    I like the USB port on both the D8 and IP819, there’s always a possibility to add an extra key programmer, so the race would really go between de D8 and IP819 which currently are almost the same price and specs.

      Right on RvB,
      Thanks for stopping in, and the great question.
      I only have experience with the A30M, and IP819, (I haven’t used a D7, or D8).
      Right now the IP819 is $547, the D8 is $700, and the A30M is $205.
      The A30M has free lifetime software updates. The IP819 & D8 only have 3 years free updates.
      The A30M is the best value for money, but the IP819 is more convenient to use, and quicker & faster performing auto scans like I show at 3:55
      For the average DIY the A30M is a solid choice, the IP819 is definitely “certified nerd” territory. Lol
      My XTOOL contact informed me the IP819 is compatible with Key Programmers KC-100, KC501, and KS-1. With the $150 in savings from the IP819 vs. the D8 you could almost buy an A30M. I guess it all depends on your budget, and how you’ll be using the tools day in, and day out.

      Thanks for the reply!
      After watching many reviews I took some things in considering, at this point all three devices more or less do have the same capabilities. The screen of the D8 is slightly bigger and both the D8 and IP819 have the possibility to add a key programmer which the D7 does not. When the price doesn’t matter the D8 is probably the best one to go with, the D7 and IP819 are one the same level but future updates should bring the IP819 a class up. Until this morning I would say I go for the best deal and buy a D7 but things took a sudden turn when I contacted Xtool with some questions. They made me a great deal on a D8 and I just couldn't let this one go.
      They have some great deals now during 11.11:
      D7 $331
      IP819 $454
      D8 $509 but they gave me some extra discount and I’ve bagged it for only $450

      Apparently can’t post the direct link because my replies keep getting deleted(?), I’ve just tried it a couple of times to explain how and where we can buy Xtool from in Europe and why we get these (much) lower prices. I will send you an email personally with the links and the explanation.

      Yo William,
      Usually all of these scan tools in the $500-$600 price range will do all the functions the vehicle manufacturer has programmed into the PCM.
      This means if the vehicle manufacturer has not programmed this function into the PCM, no scan tool will be able to enable / actuate the function. The only way to check if the tool will work on your specific vehicle with the specific test, you must email your VIN number to XTOOL, and ask them. They will usually reply in 24 hours.
      Here is their email address; xtoolofficial@hotmail.com

    can you do a XTOOL IP819 vs XTOOL D8?

    • @PanzerPlatform
      @PanzerPlatform  Год назад +3

      Yo Dub-V,
      Thanks for stopping in with an EXCELLENT question.
      The IP819, and the D8 are near identical in terms of features, functions, capabilities, and software. The difference is the hardware.
      D8: 8” vs. IP819: 7” Screen.
      D8: 10,000mAh vs. IP819 5,000mAh Battery.
      D8 has twice the Memory & Ram.
      D8 has a camera for scanning VIN Number & VECI Label Bar Codes
      IP819: No Camera
      D8 has a Kickstand
      IP819: No Kickstand
      Essentially the IP819 is a budget hardware version of the D8, and the $200-$300 price difference reflects that. Based of your application if you are a simple DIY guy the IP819 will meet 95% of all your needs. If you are a mobile mechanic, or dealership technician the D8 might be a better fit. But don’t take my word for it. Have a look at the two reviews from my friend Brian from BrianOK100 Channel. He as experience with both tools. I don’t have a D8.
      Brian’s IP819 review; ruclips.net/video/9GEn62rYcXg/видео.html
      -
      Brian’s D8 review; ruclips.net/video/Yn2mJPb5044/видео.html
      Oh yeah the A30M is basically a budget version of the IP819 because you have to supply your own tablet. But you get LIFETIME FREE updates, (IP819 & D8 only get 3 years of updates).
      Let me know if you have anymore questions.

    I'm not sure how else to contact you, so here we go! I think I have a new "Guess the Malfunction" video for you Chuck.
    My 2007 Lincoln Town Car makes a very bizarre buzzing sound after any of the door ding/key in run position ding sounds. I'm completely puzzled as to what could be causing this issue.
    ruclips.net/video/Xmd7QFvNRus/видео.html
    So I have heard this issue on my now retired 2009 CVPI before, but it was very intermittent... Like maybe 2 or 3 times every couple months. With this Town Car it is almost constant since I disassembled and removed my dash to replace all 5 of the cursed door actuator motors with new genuine Motorcraft parts (which didn't fix my B1263 panel/floor door actuator code problem, but that's a second headache I'm going to live with until warmish Spring). BUT this DID occur a number of times BEFORE I took everything apart.
    I reconnected all 2 or 3 ground connections on the passenger side, and have zero functional issues outside of what I mentioned.
    I'm stuck on this one. I know that the LCM (light module and I THINK door ding module) and the RCM (restraint/ABS) have different tone ding/beeps but it sure seems like both of them exhibit this buzz noise at the tail end of the noise they make.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated because showing off my new car to folks is kinda embarassing when the vehicle can't even make problem free ding noises when a door is opened.
    Any ideas?

      @PanzerPlatform  Год назад +1

      Right on TP,
      I'd be willing to upload this for my "guess the malfunction" series if you were able to re-film the video with a few changes.
      1.) Film in the daytime with plenty of light so we can see as much of the car as possible.
      2.) Keep the video around 60 seconds, most people's attention spans are single digits, so asking for 2:19 is near impossible. lol
      3.) Remove all keys & key chains from the ignition car key, and just use the single car key. The extra noises the keys make is confusing from the warning chime with the buzz at the end of it.
      Also, I believe the actual device that makes the warning chime sound is soldered to the back of the instrument panel so you may want to hold your phone close to the instrument panel so we can hear the noise. Maybe take a few test clips of just the noise holding your phone in different locations to find the best sound before you film the real 60 second video.
      Also, please start your video with; "Hey Chuck, Tin Pin here with my 2007 Lincoln Town Car..."
      People always get confused, and they think it's my car. lol
      -Chuck
