Just got it - EXCELLENT KIT !!! - exceeds expectations - hat tip to Moebius - Randy: yes, screams for lighting ALSO PLEASE CONSIDER designing the ultimate display mounting kit with a quiet rotation motor - make it do what it was designed to do - spin!
To say that people have been waiting for this kit for a long time is one helluva understatement. The movie came out in 1968. That's 56 years, or more than half a century ago! It must have been the grandfather of someone at Mobius who suggested this to be made.
Got mine from Monsters in Motion this morning. Three days from California to London. Thanks for the swift delivery MIM. This model is going to have to wait until Thunderbird 1 and the PanAm clipper is finished. Very interested to see how a lighting kit could be designed for this.
Thanks for the review! Ive been checking for the message from culttvman that it is ready to ship everyday - looks awesome. I will definitely want to add lights.
Great review! Re lighting, although it's a minor disappointment that the windows are not cut out having the plastic moulded in white is the next best thing. As you say, mask the individual windows, light block and paint everything else and the windows should glow nicely.
Hey Randy, sorry to comment so late, playing catch-up at work. I loved this "meet the parts" video, what a great looking kit. I received mine last week and am thrilled with it. Is there a lighting kit in our future?

Received mine yesterday. The final series piece. Mobius is the space x of 2001
Great video. I want one of these models.
Super cool review and looks like an excellent kit. Moebius and Pegasus really delivered!
Thank you!
To go where Lunar models and Capn Cardboard promised to go.
Man.. no cut out windows... WHY?!?! but your idea of taping them off is great

I totally agree!
Thanks for this, what a beautiful kit.
Glad you like it!
I wish this kit had a miniature space clipper..
It does have a mini space clipper in the kit.
@@voodoofx1946 oh, ok! Thank you so much!
Actually, all you have to do with the windows id mask them and light block from the front.
Not "mold injected." The correct term is "injection-molded."
OK, thanks for the correction.
They're injecting it with mold.
Randy, have you seen the Revell ISS Space Station kit? It's HUGE! If I decide to buy it I will certainly want to add lighting.
ISS has almost no windows, though.

Yes, I am working on the model now.
Great video. Curious as to your list of lighting kits in development?
You can contact us direct for details.
WHAT GREAT ART COVER ON THAT BOX. Who did it? I thought the very small grids would be metal.
I am dont know, sorry.
John Eaves did the art
@@aztekdummy Thanks for clearing that up Lou.
How crisp are the actual details.. is it like Hasegawa crisp or Revell crisp?
Very crisp details!

What we call a mid month purchase.
This kit is just begging for a LED lighting kit.
I just ordered my kit, and the first thing I did was start looking for lighting ideas. I REALLY want to do this one right, lol
“V” not 5.
OK.
