*@ Mixmatched But Intact* ... I buy cinnamon cones every winter and wanted to learn how to do this !!! I live in the "Pine State" (North Carolina) on six wildcrafted acres and have an endless supply of pine cones. Thanks so much !!!
I wonder if you filled a pressure cooker with cinnamon & pine cones & water then cooked them under pressure for 30 - 60 minutes if you’d get a stronger longer lasting smell?
If you noticed, when you put the pine cones in boiling water, they all closed up again. If you want the pretty flower like pine cones, I suggest you try a different application. One that doesnt require boiling water. I dont know if they open up again once they dry out? Anyone have some input on that?
I've seen where some people put them in the oven, on a very low temperature, to help dry them out faster. But, idk? How long did it take them to dry after simmering them in cinnamon, and taking them out of the bag? I l❤ve this idea!
That is a great idea! I actually kept them in the bag until we were ready to have company over. I was worried about the permanence of the smell. They held up fairly well, though. The one thing that I wish I'd done was sprinkle cinnamon in the folds of the pinecones so that it would stay inside once the pinecones closed during the boiling process. -Becca
I watched another video on how to dry them out, and get rid of the sap, and you have to bake them in the oven on a foil covered baking sheet for 30 mins at 225*, turning them at 15 mins. THEN they will open up!

All I have to do is step out I to my yard. I can get you all the pine 😊cones anyone could ask for! Funny story. When my kids were little, we had a pot bellied pig that lived in the house we had decided one Christmas to make Cinnamon hard candy. It was so strong that the pig went crazy! She started running all over the house and then wanted outside. She jumped in her swimming pool and rolled around. I guess the cinnamon was so strong it was burning her eyes and nose. I felt bad but it was funny as all get out!

I spray cinnamon oil on mine until they are wet then let them air-dry and it smells lasting
Ooo that’s a good hack. It doesn’t get too overpowering?

Ooooh, I'll have to try that for this years season.
. I would think that they would blow apaer.
This is great! In addition to cinnamon you can also add drops of clove oil, even peppermint to your water when it cools down a bit.
Cinnamon oil works great also!
I have 2 Huge Pine Trees in my Backyard. This should be fun!
Ooooh! Good luck!

I wish I could see the written part. I can’t stand to watch a whole video just to get very simple instructions

I really liked your way of making scented pine cones. Thank you dear!
Glad you like them!
Cinnamon sticks are so expensive here now. Is there any way that I could use cinnamon powder? I can get that cheaply from Asian stores.
Possibly? I haven’t tried it with the powder. Might need to soak them longer if you try it with powder.
Great . Thank you for sharing.
I am sharing this video. Maybe others want to do it..

It's cool how they closed when you boiled them. 🌳

Love the idea ,I did sprinkle mine with cinnamon.....but I was wondering if you don't got Cinnamon sticks ,can you use the powder.
You can! I actually sprinkled powdered cinnamon in the water before placing in the pinecones. -Becca
How long do they stay in the bag. Mine are not opening. I’m not sure I did it right. 😮
@@elaine6008 ...9 mts late I know.. but I believe they stay closed (after the boiling process). 🙂
How much cinnamon was used and how long were the pinecones in the water?
Shown around the 2 minute mark exactly how much. You boil them for roughly 5-10 minutes, but let them sit in the pot for an extra hour.

I have some pine trees where I live all I have to do is go outside and pick them up off the ground
Perfect access.
@Mixmatched But Intact I know right I don't live that area anymore though I moved back in September we don't have access to the pine trees anymore
This recipe is great, these pinecones taste just like cinnamon
😂😂
What did you put in the water
Powdered cinnamon, just to help boil it into the pinecones. -Becca

I was wondering the same thing because you never mentioned how long you did either of those
But they don't smell like the ones from Aldi's?
Nothing can compare to the ones from Aldi's. Those are amazing.

Why not just spray cinnamon scent on pinecones..
Doesn’t last as long.
@@MixmatchedButIntact well from what you said. neither does this process, to much work to do for 3 or 4 days

Yes! Always check your parks rules on what is allowed.
Cinnamon oil wouldn’t be my choice. I may be a minority but that strong smell makes me gag.
@@TurquoiseRhino that’s okay! You can always substitute with whichever scent you prefer.

Those are good too, this batch particularly lasted about 3weeks.
Yes pinecones are under pine trees and yes pine cones are in the wild. Need a clue?
Sounds like someone is too literal.
