Thank you so very much for sharing I didn't know you could do that with pinecones but now I have something to do with the grandchildren again thank you so very much for sharing have a blessed and safe one you and Kahlua
Omgosh...this is amazing. I watch alotta deco videoas on youtube but this is the best. I couldnt figure out where to look in the forest for these open cones!! Bless you to the moon and back!!! So excited. Am away now to collect a tonne. 🥰
Thank you so much for watching my video. I just got some Sugar Pine Cones sent in from California from some family. They are HUGE ! I will be showing them.. Have fun !! 😊
I love the long pine cones....I don't have those here. I have the short pine cones in my back yard. I want to make ornaments for my North Woods inspired tree this Christmas.
Wow very timely! I found some large but fresh pine cones last week. I didn’t know any of this info! Thank you Beth. Show us what you craft with these.....
Thanks for sharing this. I always wanted to know how to clean the pine cones properly. This is a great help. Your kitchen looks like mine with the fast orange. Lol!! Enjoy your weekend Beth.
ChiTownGirl Same here when my son works on his dirt bike. He always needs Fast Orange 🍊 in our house to get the grease off his hands as well. I was so amazed when the pine cones open. It was very cool to watch. I really enjoyed this video was very interesting to me.
Oh my Beth...thanks for showing us this procedure. ...I never knew how to do this....wonderful because we have loads of them and I would love to put a little white paint on edges to make it look like snow....have a fantastic weekend....kisses Kaluha!....keep smiling...
Thank you for posting this video, I just received a full box of pinecones today from a friend and they are full of that white stuff like some of yours were and I put them in the oven for an hour and they are still white, so I thought I need to find a solution, so tomorrow I will take these and soak them and put them back in the oven and hopefully that will work for me. There was a lot of sap that came out of them today, and I thought that white stuff was sap. Still not sure if that is or not but whatever. I hope it's not too late to get rid of the white stuff now that they have already been in the oven. Well we will see tomorrow. Thanks, I am grateful to have found this video.
Watched this last night and was so excited to see how to do this. Something so simple, yet I never knew! Now to find if there are any pine trees remaining close by me. TYFS! 💖🌹🦄
Love your detailed tutorial. My son and I recently collected about 30 pine cones when we did an outing at the lake. We plan to using them as gifts for his classroom. All the ones we collected are already fully open. If that’s the case can we skip the water/vinegar step go straight to the oven to cure them? Also I have a electric smoker I was thinking of curing them in it of course with out the smoking chips. Thank you
I noticed that your question didn't get answered. I, personally, always wash my pinecones in warm water/vinegar solution because that helps to kill any bugs that might be hiding in them. If you do that your pinecones will close back up before you take them out of the water. When you put them in the oven they will start to open back up. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the tutorial but the ones I picked have white gunk on them. Is that sap? I plan to use them in a stovetop potpourri. Will using vinegar kill the scent?
Never knew to do this, been collecting pine cones for years and have soaked in Dawn dish soap and vinegar before but never put in oven. How do we get the cinnamon smell to stay on them? Maybe there is cinnamon oil, I don’t know really. Thanks If you have ideas let me know please.
I want to try this but will use a bucket instead of the sink because I worry that they pine cone sap could cause damage to my plumbing pipes or septic tank?
What do you do with pine cones that are open but have sap all over them? Do you use the same method to clean them or a different one? Do you still have to bake them?
If you’re referring to the little mites and things like that that get into the pinecones from my experience doing this, it does I’ve never had any problems
My pinecones have been in the oven for 45 minutes but aren't opening. Could they be a different kind of pinecone? They look like the ones that you are showing in the video.
Fine, but the vinegar isn't really doing anything, is it? And the oven isn't necessary if you have a bit of patience or somewhere with a breeze. I put mine in the tub, spray them well with the shower hose, then put them outside for a few days to air dry. Same results.
If I soaked the cones then baked them and some are very sticky. Does that mean I didn’t soak them long enough or bake them long enough. Can I do them over?
2 yrs ago, I had tried a soaking method in a bucket with bleach to turn them white. It was super messy because they we're really sticky & took forever to lighten up. They ended up turning a yucky mess cause I over soaked them & added more bleach ( which was sickening to smell). I guess I'll stick to spray painted to turn them white next time. Lol
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing. Now i know how to clean pine cones. Love and God Bless.
Thank you so very much for sharing I didn't know you could do that with pinecones but now I have something to do with the grandchildren again thank you so very much for sharing have a blessed and safe one you and Kahlua
I wasn't expecting them to open up, that was a neat surprise! Thank you for showing us this! Looks like I'm going out to hunt pine cones.

Awesome, hosting a Winter Onederland first birthday party for my daughter and plan on spray painting them silver. 💗

one of the most hard cone is Pinus eldarica.... should we try hot water to open?
will this not affect the seed germination? (plz reply) thx
Thanks for the tutorial but the ones I picked have white gunk on them. Is that sap? I plan to use them in a stovetop potpourri. Will using vinegar kill the scent?
I learned something new today
How do you make the cinnamon pine cones
This was so cool!!!
Never knew to do this, been collecting pine cones for years and have soaked in Dawn dish soap and vinegar before but never put in oven. How do we get the cinnamon smell to stay on them? Maybe there is cinnamon oil, I don’t know really. Thanks If you have ideas let me know please.
I believe that cinnamon essential oil may work in scenting your pinecones
Does it need the foil? I don’t have foil.
I WILL TRY THAT.THAT IS GREAT
I want to try this but will use a bucket instead of the sink because I worry that they pine cone sap could cause damage to my plumbing pipes or septic tank?
If you are on a septic tank I would suggest a dish pan from Dollar Tree. Put that in the sink and when you are done you could dump your water outside
Or the Bucket, Great idea
Awesome‼️Thanks so much♥️
What do you do with pine cones that are open but have sap all over them? Do you use the same method to clean them or a different one? Do you still have to bake them?
Will this kill bugs

I was always taught to use the vinegar to help remove any mites or bugs in the cones
How do you store the pine cones? I store mine in empty shoe boxes. I wondered if they can be stored in plastic containers.
Omg you such a sweet heart! ^ ^ Also very nice video, this looks fun to do. Thanks for sharing! c:

Candace Hello 👋 What did you soak your cones in ?
2 yrs ago, I had tried a soaking method in a bucket with bleach to turn them white. It was super messy because they we're really sticky & took forever to lighten up. They ended up turning a yucky mess cause I over soaked them & added more bleach ( which was sickening to smell). I guess I'll stick to spray painted to turn them white next time. Lol
Oh dear the messes we make while trying to explore our creativity!
Thank you 😊
U have such a beautiful hand with all respect i have for you
LeKuyon2LR Thank You so very much for your lovely words 😊
Thank you! 👏👏
IMA MAKE EM
That is big 😳
speed the video to 1.25x-1,5x...thank me later
LoL Thank you 😊 I’m still learning.
Or...you can just simply microwave for a min to min and half! And don’t even have to soak!
This could have been done in 90 seconds. Let's be more concise. Thanks.
Thank you I will do this with my pine cones.
This is exactly what I needed to know. Just gathered up my first batch to paint and make an arrangement with so this was very helpful. Thank you!
