  • I may not have been blown away start to finish, but I did have to go back and rewatch that final episode. The way it all comes together is just so good!
I watched this one dubbed. Mostly because I really like Erika Harlacher, Violet's voice actress. And she did a really great job.
I do have to say, though... that the dub was a little spotty throughout. There were quite a lot of places that felt a little stilted and awkward... Maybe they needed to be acted better, maybe they needed to just be translated a bit differently, to sound more natural. I can't really say.
One quirk I did notice is that it felt like Doug Erholtz voiced, like, 80% of the male cast. Almost all of the minor male characters. And I do like him as a voice actor... but he's not quite versatile enough to pull off something like that. Every voice wasn't exactly the same... but I could always tell it was him. It killed the immersion a little bit. Made the world feel a bit less real, to be honest. So I guess that's something else to keep in mind.

Honestly i was bored and apathetic watching this anime. A lot of anime fans think if a show makes you sad or cry it means it is great and a lot of anime makers caught on so they stuff their shows with cheap emotional manipulation instead of good characters writing. Violet ever garden felt like that the creators were screaming at me to cry while waving Christmas decorations in front of my face.

I get what you mean. Years ago, I really struggled to enjoy Angel Beats because it felt like their emotional moments were so forced or rushed. Overall, I think Violet Evergarden was good. Her growth over time was good. But a lot of the minor characters would get these monologues at the end of their episodes where they just spoke to the audience about how meeting Violet had changed their lives... and THAT grew to be kind of insufferable. The wrong side of cheesy. Something the audience could see for themselves without needing to reinforce it.

@@duckielover151 i had the same issue with angel beats myself. I see a lot of anime feel the need to explain everything to the audience like they are brain dead i wish they would have a little faith instead that the audience can get it on their own.

@@TulipNemesia there is good drama and bad drama. I would rather Watch Nana or full moon the drama there didn’t feel forced
