    Alejandra, don't be discouraged by all the rude comments people leave you. Do not convince yourself that your videos are unwanted. I thoroughly enjoy your videos; in fact, my husband and I have implemented many of your ideas in our own home. I am obsessed with office supplies; Staples and Office Depot are like a toy store to me! I also get made fun of for being organized, but I also have people asking me for help, so just remember why you do what you do--it's to help those in need! Just thought I would take the time to encourage you since people were taking the time to talk you down. God bless you and Ed and all your hard work.

    I have a tip for the cord problem! At Christmas time they sell little sticky clips that you can use to put up Christmas lights. Well I had a lamp like that and I used the sticky clips to hold the cord against the back of the shelf leg so it wasn't just hanging there.You could use these to run the cord down the leg into your cord box or the closest electrical outlet!
    I hope this tip helps!

  • @a1joyce
    @a1joyce 10 лет назад +16

    I just read a few of the comments (nasty) and thought I should tell you that I appreciate your suggestions, Museum putty to keep containers from sliding is brilliant and storing bottled water is also an idea I never thought of. I will use these two suggestions. I don't know why people have to be mean.

    • @Chocobear555
      @Chocobear555 7 лет назад

      It's not the suggestions I have a problem with. It's the fact that she goes on and on about those cords and hiding the contents of the baskets. I clicked on this video for tips on how to organize a nightstand, not for a seemingly neverending rant about how much she hates seeing cords and the contents of the baskets.

    I just discovered your videos today and I love them! Lots of great tips. My friends have always chided me about my organized ways but they also always ask me for help with organizing too!
    To those who feel the need to post negative, hurtful and rude comments about people's videos etc., I just want to understand how this makes your life better. Only insecure and damaged people lash out at others and try to demean other people in order to build themselves up. Happy, secure people don't do this. Unfortunately, you're making it very obvious which category you belong to. Try building people up instead of tearing them down. It'll end up building you up in the long run and make you feel better about yourself and your life too.

    Alejandra: For the wires hanging down behind the nightstand, you could also use 2 more of those clips like what you have on the back of the nightstand for your phone charger, and use one on the top far corner of the back of the nightstand and the other on the back of one of the legs near the bottom -- and then clip the lamp cord so it runs along the edges of the furniture, and then you won't see the cords! :)

    I love your videos. One thing when having a nightstand with an open back. You can take white poster board or flat cardboard cut down to size, and spray-painted to match to finish of the nightstand. Tape it, staple it or use 3M removable backing to connect it. The cords will lie on the other side of that so you'll never see them.

    I think its better to have a big box of kleenex on the nightstand instead of a travel size pouch in the drawer. The tissue boxes come in really cool designs nowadays too, will add to the decor, just saying...

    • @RayeDrgn
      @RayeDrgn 10 лет назад +6

      but the box might scratch the nightstand and it causes dust with each tissue you pull out

    • @youtubehandle0
      @youtubehandle0 10 лет назад +4

      i don't think the tissue boxes are that hard so as to scratch the wood of the night stand. you anyways have to dust the night stand at least once a month. the kleenex tissues which have lotion in them don't seem to cause as much dust.

      I have a box of tissues in a zebra print holder that you but your tissue box in and it works perfectly fine and doesn't scratch my nightstand and my nightstand is white and even if I didn't have the holder it doesn't scratch my nightstand

      Sorry, tissue boxes don't "add" to decor (although at least they can make themselves acceptable or pleasant.) Besides, then Alejandra would have to DUST the tissue box every day too! ;o ;-D

    This might be a little tmi, but do you have somewhere to organize your toys? Mine seem to always get misplaced, lost, etc. in the deep bin. Need to gather an organizing system. Also, is it okay to put labels on their plastic material?

    For the wiring that shows in the back, using the same little grabber that you used for your phone you could add it to the back legs of the nightstand. Attach the extra wire to the little grabber and the wires would be out of sight.

    I have used painters tape to run the courts behind the leg of furniture that doesn't have backing.

      +HolisticHomemaker And if painter's tape upsets your sensibilities (it doesn't upset mine) you can use the same adhesive cord clips as from the phone charger. :D

    Can I cut triangles, instead of circles or squares, out of the felt? I need to ask, for as someone who needs to be told how to organise a drawer, I'm not sure I can be trusted on the shapes thing.

    I used command strips and hooks to hide the cords behind the leg. I alternate wires so they are all individually held in place. and it doesn't damage the furniture.

    ODC is a serious mental illness, that many people mistake for just being organized. It downplays how hard it can actually be to live with for those who actually have it.

    • @luissy7
      @luissy7 10 лет назад +2

      hahaha! OCD… please stop judging others without even knowing what's going on in their lives.

    • @KarasMagicalLife
      @KarasMagicalLife 10 лет назад +3

      luissy7 I actually wasn't judging anyone, My comment is pretty old if you go back and look there was a lot of negative comments that made light of OCD. My point is that OCD isn't something to be ashamed of, but taking the stigma of any mental illness is to not stereotype systems.
      I love these videos, I think she does a great job of helping people get ideas for their homes.
