This is 6 years late but alternatively I've found you can link this to key items. Just go to items, customise or make a new item that doesn't get consumed upon use, then on the right you should be able to make it trigger a common event. Of course make sure you've made the common event in the first place but if anyone else wants something like this, hopefully that helps a little.
Yeah, I may have explained that better in another video. I'm not sure how much to explain each thing. I'm going to make a beginner tutorial that will go over that a bit more.

How do you make it stay on the top? I don't want to check a sign everytime
