If you can only have one and one only.. I would think the redcat gen8 would be a far better pick. I have realized having limit choices would work better if you choose the one with the most options. You can turn your redcat into a great great crawler or a fantastic trail basher .. and for that alone I think it should get the only one pick award
You can say the same about the Sendero HD, and the Gen8 will never crawl as well as the Sendero, if you modify them both or leave them stock. The redcat has durability over the Sendero, I think, and portals, if that matters to you. They're both great choices anyway!
Awesome video. Thank you for continuing to reaffirm my opinion that the Redcat Gen8 V2 is going to be the rig I purchase when I have the funds. Thank you.
Senduro shocked me , I bought for my nephews and friends to use when over . Now it’s one of my top rigs and I just built a kit version with all the factory bits . Great rig . I don’t own a gen 8 but have a 7 and it’s good also . Steering is lacking stock and a bit fast
I’ve had multiple rc’s including scx10.2s, trx4 and trx4 sports, scx10.3s. My element enduro v2 kit out performs all of them. I’m picking up a second enduro v2
Very nice video 👍 I have the Gen 8 V2, a modified Sendero, Trailwalker and Carisma Brat. The Gen 8 is super fun, I added heavyweight wheels, brass axle ends and covers. The Enduros are very capable. My Sendero has a lot of low brass, modular aluminum wheels, Rock Beast tires, 11% overdrive, full metal trans rotated with a carbon fiber motor plate, metal frame braces, different bumpers (low pro rear) topped off with body lights, bumper lights + 6 accessory fog lights linked up to a GT-5. I'm a huge fan of the Element trucks.
The visible frustration and audio at the half-tire was hilarious!!! For me, it's really a no-brainer, going with the Sendero... as much as I do a lot of trails, but as you say, the Sendero will do trailing, but once you find a rock or anything fun to climb, it'll be ready for action! Looking forward to each video on this channel, as usual. It seems the numbers are really starting to come in, which I'm really happy, as it's really deserved! Another awesome video. I love my Gen8v2 yes its my first trail/crawler but so far it does what I'm looking for. I live in Virginia, USA. I've got alot of woods around the house that I drive on and I'm working on a crawler pit with rocks I'm getting from a creek that runs through my property. I've upgraded the esc to the HW 1080 added aluminum portal housing and +12mm wheel hex. I'd love to see a wheel and tire upgrade cause they do lack a bit in that department. I've also lengthen the wheelbase..it helps alot but you do have the clean up the wheel wells some but with the size of the body it's got the room
that video of you using the gen8 to drag that trailer sold me n mines on its way.. thinking my stock tires from my tf2 Toyota 4runner that I've never used may do well on it...
Awesome review. I do have that Gen8. Like you said, awesome on trail. Able to pull some weights. Now I have to get the element rig. Not sure if the gatekeeper might perform as good as the sendero. Cheers mate.. 👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks! You can check out my Sendero HD and Gatekeeper reviews and testing and see for yourself which performs better. They're pretty similar overall and there will be some personal preference involved :)
Craig, you mentioned using the Flysky GT5 with the Redcat. Were you able to bind it to the factory receiver or did you have to use the one that came with the GT5? I have a Redcat Marksman and have a GT5 coming for it. Thanks mate! Love your reviews!
Hey hey, thanks for the positive message, much appreciated! Yep, could bind the GT5 with the stock rx. Dunno about the marksman but I suspect it'll work there too. Fingers crossed!
I wish these were half the price of a trx4 sport! They’re actually like 30usd less but for some reason I like the gen8 more than the sport…especially after the $30 light kit for the gen8
It's a very reasonable comparison. Pricing is different to when I bought a year ago and they're now a lot closer in price here. The Gen 8 V2 has an unrelentingly tough drive train, same as the Sport! And that light kit is a great deal, yes!
My friend you are spot on. Fortunately for me I have both models . I literally just got my Sendero yesterday & the upgrades have already started metal bead locks Reefs sliders & a bunch of scale items. The Gen is already upgraded alot & have a hobbywings esc & creeper crawler motor to install in it. What are the top upgrades you would do to the Sendero? Thanks
I'd start here! ruclips.net/video/seB9YpPPmu8/видео.html If you want to go further than that (and you really don't need to), a stronger and faster steering servo and BEC to match would be next. Also replacing the radio with something more configurable (GT5 at the cheap end, perhaps a DX5 Rugged at the nicer end) - but it's all unnecessary if you do that first video's worth of things!
Everything's more, but we earn more too, so it probably evens out for the most part. Still, some things cost a lot more due to availability or shipping, whilst others are the same as elsewhere. Taxes etc add up. I'm not complaining, there's much to be thankful for. I am comparing, though!
The spur gear isn't metal but the rest of it is. See the manufacturer page: www.redcatracing.com/products/redcat-gen8-v2-scout-ii-1-10-electric-rc-scale-crawler?variant=39968938590298 I've found this thing to be one of the most durable vehicles in my fleet. It's very good.
@RC-TNT The Redcat is actually the same price as the TRX4 sport at $519 Canadian dollars. The Element is more at $583 CAD. Parts for the TRX4 are also far easier to get here, from what I've seen. I'm getting my first crawler soon and it's looking like the TRX4. I'm thinking I'll get the TRX4 sport kit and add different electronics.
Traxxas is heavily USA-centric, as far as I can tell. Maybe AE is more EU heavy, who knows. Certainly the Sport is a hugely reliable and capable performer. I loved building the kit - I have a 3-part series on the channel here just on that very thing!
Another great video! I love my Gen8V2, it was my first crawler that started this sickness.😄 I've just added heavier beadlocks and different tires so far. That helps it a ton though. Eventually I plan on a Sendero as well, when my wallet catches up. As a sidenote, I took the stock Redcat tires added hair donuts and steel beadlocks then put them on my wife's SCX10II and they work really well. Maybe it's the donuts, maybe it's the chassis? Keep up the great entertainment and Thanks.
Thank you and you're welcome! The Gen 8 will get metal beadlocks on a video soon, the wheels have finally arrived. We'll do a before and after with that change. Cheers!
This old thing? Made it myself. What? Why are you looking at me like you don't believe me? OK, fine: Metal 1/10 Dual Axle Scale Trailer Kit a.aliexpress.com/_mKIbGd8 It had a little construction, took an evening to put together, and beware the wiring from factory is wrong - short circuit if you don't correct it - but it is otherwise pretty nice.
It's a fine all rounder. However, there are better choices for a general use rig: Ecto is faster and similarly capable. Gen 8 V2 and RGT Pioneer are tough all rounders that can tow well and have a tougher body than the lightweight Sendero. Trx4 Sport and Axial Base Camp are heavier duty crawlers with great trail character too, though you'll pay more than for the Sendero. The Sendero is a crawler that can do trail driving too. It's biased toward crawling with its light weight body, slower motor, gearing and overdrive. It's a wonderful machine and I'm sure you'll love it if you get it. I've got videos on all of the above and more. I have an article you might find helpful too: rc-tnt.com/rc-crawler-reviews/what-is-the-best-rc-rock-crawler/ Welcome back to the hobby! New Bronco for all round capability but the Axe edition isn't far behind. If Gen 8 V2, go the Axe over standard if you have the funds, it's an excellent system. I have 3 Axe systems and so that's an easy decision! Personally, I'd go trx4 then axe then standard V2, in that order. The trx4 will be more expensive because it's steering servo sucks and you'll want to replace that. You might also find the hobbywing Fusion 1800kv to be a great upgrade choice for the Bronco and for the Gen 8 V2 std edition, if you go that way. I have the Fusion 1800kv in my trx6 and it is ample, so it'd rip in a 4x4.
@@RCTNT Thank you! So do you think the new trx4 is still number one in stock form? Like for example If I did not intend to upgrade it? Or would it be the axe?
@@anthonytuccillo6274 aw that's a good question. I've competed with the trx4 as the chassis underneath my class 1 rig and have won numerous local events with it. I like it for performance. However the Gen 8 V2 price is right and if you won't miss the locking diffs and two speed transmission, the Gen 8 axe would be a fine rig.
