Great, swinging version of this classic. Tony always looks like he's having a great time and his smile and laughter are contagious. I was sad to hear that he's retired from performing, but it was bound to happen at some point. The fact that he performed to age 95 is pretty astounding. God bless you, Tony. ♥
Ohhh! Just EVERYTHING about this Masterpiece! The 🎶notes🎶 the 🎶melodies🎶, the lyrics...the playful laughter! A TIMELESS classic! This arrangement is one of my all times favorites🤗❤️. Thank you Tony! ✨🎶🔥💃🏾🕺🏽🔥🎶✨
Rest in peace Tony. "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21: 4)
I SO LOVE how the classic tunes like this with a great artist like Tony being shared with someone younger who truly appreciates it and carries it on. I love this song. Great beat...feels good.
I "discovered" Tony Bennett back in the early fifties. One of his early recordings was the first record I had ever bought, a 78 rpm disk of "Someone Turned the Moon Upside Down". Who has ever heard of that tune? I was just a teenager but I recognized something special. The disk is long gone but I have the tune on my iPhone now. I didn't learn about Diana Krall until about the year 1999 but quickly purchased several of her recordings. I like her touch on the piano as well as her singing. If she didn't sing she could still make a living as a piano player.
This is actually my favorite performance of Dianna Krall. I often think she's just a little too underplayed emotionally. Here, she swings really beautifully. She brings what the tune needs.
Any musician, and I mean REAL musician, who has ever performed live and recorded live with other musicians knows exactly what Diana Krall is saying and understands, without even having to think about it There is that silent communication that goes on between musicians on stage, or recording live in the studio, that can't happen with tracks that have been recorded in advanced that you now have to 'fit in' with. We musicians know the difference in the feel, energy and feel of live. We also know the stress levels of having to fit in with what's already been recorded with no feedback from your fellow musicians or vocalists. This is for you concert watchers: As long as nothing is Milli Vanilli-ed, (prerecorded tracks) watch the musicians, not just the upfront 'star' but the musicians in the back. Watch them communicate with nothing but a glance, or a head nod, or a facial expression. Even we musicians who are, and never will be, even close to becoming stars understand the joy of playing and recording live!
You know you're an icon when performers like Krall line up to do a duet. RIP Tony.
RIP @TONYBENNETT truly an amazing 96 years on this earth! May your beautiful voice live on for many years..... 🙏 ❤
You can tell that Tony and Diana are having fun doing this,at the end of the day isn't that what really matters 😎

Actually, I was going to post I thought she WAS a little flat, emotionally. You can see it on her face too. Tony's voice acting better fits the song.

Pay attention kids. This is how it's done.
