For a while, Daisy Jones & The Six were everywhere. Their albums were on every turntable, they sold out arenas from coast to coast, their sound defined an era. And then, on 12 July 1979, they split.
Nobody ever knew why. Until now.
They were lovers and friends and brothers and rivals. They couldn't believe their luck, until it ran out. This is their story of the early days and the wild nights, but everyone remembers the truth differently.
The only thing they all know for sure is that from the moment Daisy Jones walked barefoot, on to the stage at the Whisky, the band were irrevocably changed.
Making music is never just about the music. And sometimes it can be hard to tell where the sound stops and the feelings begin.

‘I spent a lost weekend in this book. Daisy Jones is an instant icon.’ ERIN KELLY
“DAISY JONES & THE SIX is a transporting novel - at once a love story, a glimpse into the combustible inner workings of a rock-and-roll band, and a pitch-perfect recreation of the music scene of the Fleetwood Mac era. You’ll never want it to end.” CECILIA AHERN
‘Once in a blue moon you get to discover a book you end up pressing upon many other people to read. Taylor Jenkins Reid has got every nuance, every detail exact and right. I loved every word.’ PAUL REES
‘So brilliantly written I thought all the characters were real . . . I couldn’t put it down’ EDITH BOWMAN
‘The heady haze of the 70s music scene, and a perfectly flawed Daisy, combine to create a fresh, rock n roll read. I loved it.’ ALI LAND, author of Good Me Bad Me

and the three of them are connected too!! i think taylor did sort of intend for them to be read in that order, but it’s really subtle and you don’t actually have to go tshoeh, djats, mr (i didn’t realize there was that quiet organization so i read mr before djats)

Without spoiling what is Malibu rising about ? Is it in the same vein as her other two novels where it’s historical fiction?

@@_sty__le7433 yes in some sense, its about the children of mick reva who has a brief cameo in Evelyn Hugo. It follows past, mick meeting the mother of the kids (blanking on her name) and the present day, following all the kids during one day in the present, the day of the infamous house party thrown by Nina, the oldest daughter. Hoped that helped, its been a minute since I read it though haha!

I can’t believe Taylor Jenkins Reid found out there had never been a good rock novel, so she put aside her fears and wrote the great rock novel we need. Iconic. Goals. Amazing.

I had heard so many good things about Daisy Jones and the Six - to the point that I was worried my expectations were too high. But worry not - it really is that good.
Daisy Jones & The Six is such a detailed and well-accomplished oral history of a fictional rock band in the 1970s that you have to remind yourself it's fiction. I have nostalgia for the Los Angeles scene in the seventies and the sunset strip and the heady parties held at Chateau Marmont. I love that music - Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, I loved the story and the telling of the rock music journey from an idea for a band to super stardom.
I want to know Daisy Jones, I want to hear her music. When I finished the book, I suffered immense grief at the loss of the world that Taylor Jenkins Reid had painted.
Before I read this book and before it was even published it had been bought by Reese Witherspoon's production company to turn into a television series. Bring it on!
    VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Thank you so much the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a complimentary electronic copy in return for an honest review.

Reid thought that the lottery was the only explanation needed of the draft, but I was conscripted out of law school so it was far more complex. But otherwise she did a decent job of portraying the rock scene of the era.

You should read "clothes music boys" by Viv Albertine from the Splits if you want tl read about her experience as a women in a rock girlgroup in the 60. This book is really different but it made me remember some things about the novel/biography I just mentioned... I really like this type of books, women in the rock world. Tins Turner biographies are also okay
